Creative! Now...I don't want to be to be picky, but I'm gonna need a mattress.
❤️
Same here
@natalie burris i dont think wanting a mattress makes you picky at all
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ok! Because after all that hard work of putting that thing together, who’s gonna want to lay on those hard boards 😖
It is much more practical to tie the boxes with plastic ties, that way you do not spend so much wood and you can easily disassemble it when you want to move it to another place ...;)
Bingo. Love the general idea but I thought it had several flaws. The base is basically unnecessary other than for aesthetic reasons. Center space could also be used for a larger storage area. And cant for the life of me figure out why one end is raised an inch or so or at least it seems to me. Perhaps I missed something
@@jacal420 necessity is the mother of invention and nature always provides
That's the goal of true recycling .you use what's readily available or to hand . Obviously if your in the country your lucky to find unused crates of a similar size .Wooden planks are more easy to source . I also think if it wasn't a bed for human then the zip tie idea is totally impractical .Cause we move around alot during slumber and even metal screws eventually loosen .
Anyway .
Because those boxes are plastic, I’m assuming they’re incredibly flimsy. Meaning they truly do need all that wooden reinforcement. If they only used wood on the base/sideboards then the plastic would sag under the weight of the wood, the bed, and the people.
For my bed storage build I used cinderblocks, and although it was a pain to carry each one out by the end of my lease- it was incredibly sturdy, stayed relatively clean and added an industrial touch.
When I was about 16, 34 years ago, my best friend and I did almost the exact same thing. But we turned to crates to face outside for storage and placed plywood over top. The craftsmanship here is much better than ours. We even used crates to hold speakers. Use a soldering iron with a cutting head to cut holes for them
Mannnn, back in the 70's we made Go-Karts out of 2 x 4's, milk cartons and the front and back wheels of shopping carts, ppl used to roll their groceries home in!!!
Creative brain! ❤
You guys were stoned out your minds! It's good we all did that!
On one section, if you remove the inside walls on the crates, you can make one long container to hold a rolled up foam topper to make sleeping more comfy! Great design! 👍
Great minds...I was over thinking on how to make use of the middle space.
Very nice a comment, My Friends, ❤️ thank you 👍
@@shamiso15 yes,great minds👍👏💯❤️

Woodglut has a very large project base.
He shares his ideas with people across the world. Sure, not all his ideas will work for everyone but surely each idea of his seems to be working for at least some people somewhere all of the time. That's the reason, he has so many views and subscribers. This idea too is no different, several will think rats, water, dust could go through the storage (and they are right).....but there would be millions who don't live under those threats. More importantly, I think he is just trying to get people to keep thinking differently all the time....that's what all his videos are about....
Exactly man, well said!
It works for anybody who needs a really, really firm mattress and lots of storage space, cheap.
Ok! You tell me 'exactly' where you would not get the threat of at least any 'Dust' anywhere on this planet?

Very nice a comment ❤️ thank you 👍
Would have been much easier with wooden boxes or pallets. I once saw a bed made of leather cubes with magnets on the sides so they fit when together but can be pulled apart when moving house. Such innovation.
Pretty neat. This or a modified version would work well in tiny homes or van/bus conversions. I would make an adjustment though of figuring out something for the middle sections dead space.
Nothing says comfort like laying on a plank of wood.
It's really good for your back and posture.
Don’t forget it’s got a blanket
@@LazyApeable so warm here, it's better to not have a blanket
I think that's awesome, but you can tell he's not an American used to a soft bed..😀
I lived in Europe some 40 yrs ago and I had a bed made of hard horse hair filled sofa cushion. 9 of the to be exact. I must have been a king size bed. It was so hard . But I slept really good on it
Wow! you could put that up against the wall for great Shelving and storage!!

$1700 worth of screws and brads. The whole thing only weighs 843lbs and looks super comfy. Anything you throw in the baskets gets holes in it from all the screws sticking thru.
Yeah I heard there was a world shortage supply of screws....welp guess we have now found out why.😁
Lol
Yea I think it's pretty cool. And the screws can be ground down with a grinder. And milk crates don't weigh 800 pounds!! And that wood is maybe 60 pounds. Lord that was funny though 🤣..
The hardest part will be lifting the mattress with the wood LOL
@@Metoo1111 RVs have beds with storage under them that you have to lift the plywood and mattress to get into it. That Wood on this video isn't near the weight of a piece of plywood or its at least the same weight. Lol yall to funny..
Wow great. One more storage spot is in center make the middle crate removable at foot of bed and you can store long item in there. Like skies, or winter boot, or rolled up foam mattress like Janis said.
🎯
I love watching this man make things. He has a great imagination. I wish I could make things like that. Great for people just starting out, make your own furniture with thing around you.
❤️❤️
If you use your imagination you can do/make anything, if you can imagine it you can do it

Needs a mattress a support in the middle and to finish up the ends. Love the extra storage overall brilliant.
And then move the mattress every time to get to storage?
I thought it was going to be a vertical shelving unit with middle out for tv .
@@cec123 thank God I found your comment. We on the same page.. I find it pretty unusable I thought maybe it was a joke
@@terriec808 many people around the world do not use mattresses, and they roll up their bedding every day so they can use the one room.
Оообоолдеть Супер кий вариант! Мне очень подходит, у меня доход не очень большой и как раз мне нужна кровать, супер, Спасибо за видео
Yes I like it, things that can function in 2 ways are winners.
А ещё можно спать в коробке от холодильника...
Nice idea. All you need is some foam glued to the boards to make it softer. I like the storage space👏🏾
Brilliant work , you’ve got a great skill and will be able to make anything. My only concern is that all the screws that you put on top of the crates will be sticking out from the bottom of the boxes , therefore when you put clothes the screw ends will prick all the clothes inside the boxes😢
Good work, but i would put the mattress to make it more comfortable and some wood on the corners to alleviate it from the floor for easy cleaning, otherwise, congratulations
I love it..but I would personally put a mattress on top of it and use that part as a bedframe instead.
I was thinking same. For storage purpose, he can put two more crates as extension .
You did an amazing job . I would've put a soft pillow-top cushion on top, then add the spread and pillows to protect my back .
Awesome project. I'd a add a few refinements but that's what these projects and ideas are for. I could see a young couple making this exact project one weekend with a $300 memory foam mattress on top and saving themselves a thousand bucks to put toward food and rent.
Memory foam mattresses you can get1 that's 8" and it cost you maybe$175And you would be comfy and cozy on it.
Интересная идея из пластиковых ящиков) но я сначала подумала, что это будет шкаф) тоже интересная идея использовать эту конструкцию как шкаф. Только среднюю часть можно использовать для платья или другой одежды)👍
The most inconvenient storage system...ever.
I would throw a light movable mattress on top , something that can easily be moved to access storage. Pretty cool .
After the crate challenges, people can make this bed using all the crates
The funny thing to me is I work in a kitchen that has too many milk crates just piling up. I use them for all sorts of stuff but when that challenge came out I was hell no dont do it!
About 15 years ago I actually did make a bed out of milk crates via similar principles to this.
Cool - i would put a mattress on it though 👍🏻
*you're gonna have everyone I know, sitting around at 711, waiting to snatch crates lol*
I'm doing that at midnight tonight, horeyshet how dija know?

I've noticed many people are mistaken about the wood used here. He is using (one by four pine planks) i love this material! Be sure no pallets were harmed in the making of this video.
Harmed?
@@jackjune156 it's a joke, like in movies they'll say "no animals were harmed in the making of this movie"

First you have to find the lady who accepts this bed. Well done. 👍
Its very cool but if you put a mattress on it you would have to take it off to get to your things but the concept can still work with the baskets on their sides or something still very cool
What level of genius is this?
That's not going to work when your mattress is on top why didn't you just make it so the boxes slid out so you could use them
We have hundreds of these type of crates (ex-farmer), and over the years I have used them for all manner of things, but NOT this! 🤣🤣
Ý tưởng của bạn thật tuyệt vời.cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẽ video. Chúc bạn thật nhiều sức khỏe nhé

All that wood.

Then at least you could put a mattress on it no problems..
@@chutneyferret3569 why so nit picky? We all know a mattress goes on a 🛏️

put a mattress on top and right to go. Very good idea, just need to find some "free" crates to make the creation even sweeter!

That is pretty clever, something my boys would like too, I like anything that is a good use of space... Thanks for sharing... 😁
Like the idea and storage very smart. Put a mattress on it save space on needing a dresser. Good job ❤️
He built the most uncomfortable bed with storage 🤣
Yeah, I wouldn’t sleep on that, unless I wanted to have a back ache.
Only would use the idea for a box spring and put a pillow top mattress on it
You could just sit on the blanket on the floor 🤣🤣
Us Americans are so soft. I look at this and say "Do other countries really sleep on wood pallets? Who needs a mattress!"
So good 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Such a beautiful engineering of space. I'm definitely adding this to my worklist. However, if I could change anything I'd probably add side paneling to keep the bugs and dust out.
Great advice and you said it politely! Great od for you!

Awesome storage idea. It appears that this would work out to be about 60 x 65 which doesn't suit a standard sized US mattress. If you could get it to 80 x 60, it would be considered a Queen sized platform. Looking online, standard crate measurement for this shape is 19 x 13 x 11 high.
However foam and polystyrene foam make excellent fillers for home made mattreses
I did similar project used zip ties and put cardboard squares in milk crates. ( Keeps stuff from falling out) also it a sheet off 3/8 " plywood on top cut in falf too get too storage. Put thick mattress on top
Worked out great for yrs.
That must be a very soft and confortable bed!!!
Make it taller for even more storage space and possibly use that center section too.
wouldn't all those screw ends be sticking into the crates from the bottom? snagging on blankets and such.
When you fastened screws to plastic your screw head extended beyond plastic and damaging any item you might contain within that storage box. Like your pillow and blanket.
🤣🤣🤣 Cadê o Colchão.. Gostei da criatividade parabéns... Mas vou por um colchão 🤣
It looks wonderful!
It just needs a mattress or cushion to make it more comfortable.

Très créatif idée genial avec peu bravooooooo
A couple of twin mattresses on top would provide some plushness and easy access to the storage. -Just slide the mattresses aside.
Nice idea and ingenuity I see a different possibility for this to have steps and a larger storage space underneath. Where my son can either hide and play his games or put his toys away in. Great thinking man sometimes you got an idea but need to see something similar so you know where to start.
This method would be safer for a child. Recently I heard a child suffocated inside his toy box. If all wood need a safety to get out.

Eu faria mais comprido, pra colocar um colchão em cima e só faria a abertura na parte sem o colchão. Assim ficaria uma cama com baú acoplado.

great job I would put the crates facing out and add some shelf's in side
Lots of options!
Isn't that fantastic?! Reusable plastic carts, thus ecologically practical , with storage bins below. Plus air ventilation for storage items to prevent molding or fungus. Can't be more perfect.

All the wood on the bottom is wasted. It would be a better use of materials to build what amounts to a really short table, then have all the crates loose to slide out like drawers all around the perimeter. That way the stuff in the drawers is accessible without disturbing all the bedding.
I agree i thought the same because it supposed to be a bed and we usualy use mattresses and we would have to lift the mattress to get to the storage. Also bugs can get in the crates he should have lined the crates from the inside. But on overall it's not a bad idea.
What a creative idea I like it 👍
I would make a smaller version for a couch but I would use it for food storage
