These tutorials are just the best! I am mostly watching them on the way home, or when I have some found time. Besides them being very helpful for learning AE, your videos are really entertaining as well!
Ohhh,. i'm beggining to learn the program and you gave some cool tricks in this video, i didn't knew we could use a perspective tool effect, that is so useful, thank you.
@@robmonk3139 maybe…but I came across this because I saw ‘easy’ in the title. I was paying attention throughout and hit rewind when I needed to. This is not a good video for beginners because necessary steps are skipped, not mentioned, and not addressed. 👎
Thanks a lot bud I'll link what I've used this tutorial for when my animation is finished and I can't even begin to thank you enough because your a legit the only person explaining this rn and it's exactly what I needed
Hi Ben. Any reason you don’t use the Write-On effect instead? You can animate the width of the stroke (as well as the color or opacity) anywhere along the path with keyframes, which lets you create more calligraphic line widths and smooth transitions. Which keeps it all contained & smart inside one layer, rather than duplicating and masking. Your method only really works when you don’t have a variable-width stroke crossing over itself, but with graffiti art and cursive text you often have to do that. Write-On will smartly draw ‘over’ itself depending on the order you drew the source path.
I like this a lot. I was trying to make one which didnt require any masks, so after doing yours I tried adding a small bulge deformer to each side of the line to get the taper and threw in a turbulent displace to get the variation in width. It worked pretty well - but all inspired by yours.
I've been using After Effects for years and years and in this 9=-minute video I've learnt about tools I never knew existed! (Powerpin, Crop to region of interest, liquify)!!! Thanks so much Ben!
Look like I need a pen tool tutorial first lol, I can't even get that line shape with it, it just fills in a bunch of shapes. - I just had to turn off 'fill' in the pen tool. All good.
I agree. This was not helpful for me and definitely NOT a good tutorial if you are a beginner or anyone starting to learn After Effects. This guy just flys around clicking on things without explaining anything. Thumbs down! 👎
Instead of using liquify you can duplicate the brick layer, make it black and white and add a displacement map to your spray paint then set the source of the displacement to the new brick layer and adjust the displacement. I'm not sure how it works with different colours you might need it to be black and then pre comp then add colour
This is late, but I think the issue is just where the anchor point is positioned. I had the same problem n with some google searches I figured out you can move it from the centre of your composition to the centre of whatever your tryna scale. I found this video that explains how to fix it better than I can: ua-cam.com/video/QXQZPcSElmI/v-deo.html
Not necessarily depending on what kind of animation you want to make, for example if you're creating transitions similar to this then yeah! However if you're trying to do 2d animation there are limits with these softwares and you'd need something like 2d paint, krita, Adobe animation for more creative control of your animations
Super enjoying these Ben, thank you. Question, my Roughen Edges is not quite...spritzy like yours, it's more torn edges. I used the same settings...what am I missing?
everytime i try to use the scale option to increase/decrease the size it just moves the location of my drip to left and right instead, I know i'm late but if anyone knows how to fix this pls let me know! ;c
You can do it by using the TrickMat button. You put your image behind the Spray Line layer and "TrickMat Alpha Matte "Spray Line" on your image. I hope this help you ^^
Great tutorial as always - a little disappointed with the last few weeks worth of videos though. Your older videos such as "Animation in Photoshop...", "Character Animation...", "Texture and Mattes...", "AI to AE ft Burnt Toast..." etc and pretty much all the awesome animation tutorials with your style. Looking forward to more videos!
Me: thinking I'm following the tutorial to a T and misplacing some keyframe or other and having to start over... 😭 Good thing it's an awesome tutorial and I'm just a bad student! 💜
it is SO frustrating that you constantly cut when you've clearly done more. I understand you're trying to shoot for brevity but these are literally recommended tutorials for beginners and you skip all of the UI navigation. Feels like watching a teacher show off how good they are at something instead of trying to teach. Huge waste of time trying to follow this, ironically.

@@slowhandblues187 maybe you just need to pay more attention, or go to beginner tutorials 👍

Graffitis are back in fashion and design. This is the kind of thing we are likely to put in practice within the next year or so.
