  • The best part about this project is that you can use bedding you already have and just buy a zipper - or of course you can buy some new sheets and a fleece blanket too! This DIY zipper bedding tutorial will show you the steps to make your own zipper bedding for any size of mattress - including RVs and murphy beds. Here are the pieces I used (except for the fleece - don’t use anything with stretch) in this tutorial:
    Zipper: rstyle.me/+wjqNSlLFbcFoGKHkOk...
    Gold Dot Sheet Set: rstyle.me/+IUAEsr2sOgg7-Amp0B...
    Fleece blanket: rstyle.me/+hDIRbY8J--bw9lNWS7...

    This was amazing! Just a note to others, prewash everything to account for shrinking, also, if you use the sheet suspenders, it will not move at all!

    To hold zipper in place u could use zipper tape to stick zipper to sheet instead of pins

    Hi new subscriber here, I love this thank you for taking the time to do this for us who can’t afford $269 x3 kids 😩🤦🏻‍♀️. I will be going to get my zipper fleece, and bed sheets. My 3 babies are going to be so excited, let’s hope I can get the sewing machine done my late mom always tried to teach me and I never wanted to learn just to mess with it and every time I remember using the sewing machine the thread would be tangled up at the bottom side of the material (what could I do better, slow down the feeding) anyways thank you very much. You got me excited to be able to give my babies something cute and less expensive 🥰 blessings ma’am.

    • @Amy804Sycamore
      @Amy804Sycamore  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Diana! Oh, your kids are going to love it. I have also experienced the thread getting tangled and I think it's due to the bobbin thread not being properly wound and it was probably the type of thread too. Try to skip the cheap cotton stuff and get a little nicer thread - this helped me.

    Beautiful and straight forward tutorial, thank you. You made it simple to do. How did you finish the bottom end?

    • @Amy804Sycamore
      @Amy804Sycamore  3 роки тому +4

      Great question! I left the bottom open because it was long enough to be tucked in between the mattress and footboard. However, you could also sew it directly to the fitted sheet.

  • @GFeintuck
    @GFeintuck Рік тому +1

    With all respect, plus you’re excellent demo.
    The reason I use zipped on sheet (adult) bed is for a Fresh change of bedding, this technique retains the fitted sheet in situ... I would need to remove and launder the (now THREE ) layered bed covers?

    • @Amy804Sycamore
      @Amy804Sycamore  Рік тому +1

      No, there are two pieces, the fitted sheet with a zipper and the top blanket with the other side of the zipper. Hope that helps.

      You can definitely do that! I wasn't sure if my daughter would like the tight fit so I wanted the option of having the top feel more like a blanket. Turned out she likes to sleep snug as a bug~

    • @Amy804Sycamore

      Thanks so much! I did leave it open because it tucked nicely down into the mattress, but it could be sewn down too.

    Thanks for this tutorial! I know Beddys has a “comfort panel” so make sure the blanket covers the entire person. Any tips to include this?

    • @Amy804Sycamore
      @Amy804Sycamore  Рік тому

      Not sure, but this DIY zipper bedding kind of creates a sleeping bag situation. So there's sheet below and blanket on top.

    • @vmbaby
      @vmbaby Рік тому +1

      You could leave the bottom open and the blanket hang off the end for length, and cut your blanket wider and sew the zipper away from the edge so there's extra width underneath. Does that make sense? It would be an extra step to tuck in the excess as you zip though.

  • @MD-xw9ei

    great tips! your zipper link is continuous zipper not a finished one? How do you remove the zipper?

    • @Amy804Sycamore
      @Amy804Sycamore  2 роки тому +1

      For a continuous zipper, I just cut it and wrapped it around the fabric underneath and sewed it. I couldn't find a finished zipper the exact length I needed and this way worked perfectly.

  • @briannafitz5631

    Could this work with a lighter fabric than fleece? It gets too hot.

    • @Amy804Sycamore
      @Amy804Sycamore  2 роки тому

      Absolutely! It would probably be easier to sew if the fabric is thinner.

    Thank you for the great video. I own a few Beddys sheets, but they are getting worn out from all the washes. My kids love them but really want comforters that fit their interests right now and that they enjoy (horses, monster truck, princesses etc) and Beddys are all basic designs. I love how simple this is tutorial is and I plan on giving it a try. Is the bottom edge of the bed left open? Or does the zipper wrap around? Thanks.

    • @Amy804Sycamore
      @Amy804Sycamore  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for sharing!! The bottom is left open, and the excess just tucks at the end of the bed so it works to have free footies or a nicely made bed. Best of luck to you, it really is much easier than I thought.
