I am observing people now cheating on exams by using Ai... It's technical ability is incredible. Problem is it's too easy - and the issues this raises are many and obvious. The brain is a muscle - You can't let engineers who don't what they are doing become qualified! The implications are frightening.
Wait until the media starts using deep fakes to smear politicians and create false flags videos all thanks to ai. What can't go wrong. If you thought people are gullible, now you have no idea what's on store for them.
As an engineer doing another degree in computer science and good knowledge of the capabilities of our common language models. Things like CHATGPT are currently incredibly, incredibly bad at resolving engineering problems in things like exams and coursework. They will even fail to compute basic mathematics together, they have pretty bad reasoning when it comes to orders of calculations (BIDMAS), they interpret human languaged engineering issues very poorly, and they use their own internal points of significant figures and decimal points. I've tried putting engineering exam issues into CHATGPT4 word for word and it will get 90% of the questions wrong, and often very far from being correct. So I wouldn't worry about language models delegitimising engineering in terms of exams, study and qualifications - CURRENTLY (only speaking about current capability).

It should be made a law that every image made with AI have unalterable meta data embedded so that there is no question about it being not real/fake.

I definitely believe that there must be regulations against using AI to replace jobs. If it goes unchecked, I think thousands (if not millions) of people will lose their jobs due to AI.

This was actually a pretty productive conversation. The problem will be if (when) AI goes too far and starts being misused by powerful people to control public opinion for political purposes. It will happen, corrupt people will get a hold of the technology.

I’m a conservative but I’m honestly sick and tired of possible advancements in technology and medical research being slowed or stopped by politicians. We stopped research into stem cells or human cloning or whatever else. How do we expect to advance as a species if we hide from it?
