And $25,000 fines for not getting back to Senaters with information within 10 working days and public holidays are included, because they should have answers for the committee members. And $100,000 fines for intentional false information given during question times during senate committee meetings. This money goes to the committee members team that the answers were not given, for them to place into charity of their chosing.

Josh, this has been going on with great regularity. I worked in politics in the late 1980s and there were receptions every night in Washington DC with government officials, regulating agency personnel, and industry personnel. It was referred to in my lobbying organization as “schoomzing with the regulators”. As a young, idealistic person back then, I asked my boss if this was ethical and he really did not have an answer. It happens everywhere as you pointed out that Congressional family members buy and sell stock with “insider information” and there’s no penalty for it unless you are Martha Stewart.
Major conflicts of interest have been overlooked for way too long!! It is very much a problem!
