I fully restored an attak trak last year. I have four original rubberbands sealed in the bag, but they dried out, so I couldn‘t use it. Instead I used black rubberbands from tatoo maschines I bought on E-bay. That works very well. My seatbelt and the battery cover is original. The stickers are replacements in good quality. To care of the old plastic, I use always Balistol (a german weapons oil you can use for so many things to care on). Great job, and greetings from germany.
Nevermind the haters!! I've learned so many valuable tips, tricks and custom ideas from you informative videos. Your love for these wonderful old toys is so apparent and refreshing in a world gone wild for the latest greatest things.
One of the only things I remember from the cartoon was the way this thing moved. As soon as I saw it, it all came back to me. Some 80s toy engineer was very proud of this one, I hope.
A brilliant source for cheap rubber are bicycle innertubes, I always keep my old tubes that are beyond repair. I think poundland sell innertubes, I wouldn't trust them on my bike but would be ok for something like this. Great content thanks for sharing.
I just figured out a cool way to make the stickers look more like the originals aka vintage-ish. I printed them out on plain paper, used double sided sticky tape on the back and after applying them I used clear nail polish on them. The Polish of Na-il soaks into the paper and it makes them a bit shiny. It saturates the colours and makes them look older.
Another excellent video!!! Thank you so much for sharing your innovative ideas and approaches to bringing life back to these wonderful toys. A job very well done!!! It's very kind of you to offer the decals. I look forward to reconditioning my Attak Trak!
Great job! It’s amazing how just cleaning up a vintage figure/vehicle will make it look brand new again and how well the toys were made back then. Great job, also, on the decals!
Need to get a Mr. clean Magic eraser to remove the scuff marks from the plastic that what my son and I use on our Frankenstein Star Wars toy builds. Love to channel, look forward to the next episode. My son says hi hello from Wichita.
@@toypolloi I sure did! I never would have thought about the tape deck bands. I was thinking more of some sort of adhesive backed rubber that I would need to cut out or something. Thanks for this!
Hey there Dave! I hope you are well. Great vid as usual my friend. I always love the rugged build of the classic MOTU toys. I could just hear in the plastic, as you handled it how durable it was. These things took major beatings from us kids and they still work and are as solid today as the day they were made. Thank you good sir.🙏
Wow that upscale software is great, that's one of the biggest pitfalls with scanning old print items the Halftone factor, wonderful there is something to remedy that. Used to scan comic books and it always looked bad, like a photocopy of a photocopy in image quality drop.
On the tread bands, I was looking at stepper motor belts. The rubber belts that are used on filament based 3D printing machines to move the machine parts around. Haven't found anything exact yet. But they do have a similar tread pattern which hooks into a drive gear on the motors of the printer.
Go to an automotive or tire shop. Somebody that sells tires and inner tubes. See if they have any busted inner tubes. Use them to cut out the belt parts.
I bought a bag of black rubber bands for mine, but they're kind of a really dark grey. I think the belts are much closer to, if not the same as, the originals.
@@toypolloi The elastic bands are okay and would do the job, but they come with that distinctive smell, as well. I'm curious to see what the inevitable Origins version comes with.
A couple of my MOTU vehicles had batteries left in that leaked and caused heavy corrosion. Do you have any videos dealing with that? I'm wondering if I need to try to completely replace the contacts (which seems especially difficult on the Attak Trak).
Yeah, I made this guy out of parts I had. Body and legs are he-man, arms from Tri-clops, and the head is a repainted French Prince Adam that was covered in blue pen. The end result looks really nice.
Hi, one of the legs have come off my attack trak. I have no idea how to attach it back on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.. love ur videos
Do you have all the bits of plastic. One of the wheels on this was broken and I quickly repaired it with plastic weld. Didn't show it as there was really nothing to see.
@@toypolloi hard to tell for me. I bought it with the wheel separated, so i cant tell if its missing something or not unless i try to pull off another wheel to compare.
The orange part of the wheel should have a cylindrical pole sticking out of it that is pushed over the metal rod in the body. DM via any of my social media channels if you want send a photo of it. Cheers
Thank you so much for this video, now I can go and fix mine. I will have to see if I can find rubber for the belt, currently I'm using a 7.5mm wide cable tie, cut to length and rounded the edges. Is there a reliable way to de-yellow the clear plastic on the wheels?
Had this as a kid and actually forgot all about it. Wonder what even happened to all the vehicles I had. I saved all the he-men but the vehicles disappeared
I was mostly joking. But being as I have a huge vintage collection, and they are all loose, most of my MOTU could use new stickers. So it wouldn't hurt me if you eventually did. I appreciate all the work and thank you for sharing the downloads with us. Now to go find some decent photo paper to print with.
I started following you on Instagram. If you find up my Instagram(BurningHeartCustomCreations) I have up pics of my collection there. Although I've picked up more recently and still need to build some more shelving to get it all displayed better.
Nice job and thanks for restoring my children's toys, but I have seen in many of the last videos that you say many times, example "THE BATTERY COVER" they did not look good that you put them in later and I don't know why you don't do it at the time of the video If it is due to laziness or you want to show that it is a poor job, it also happens with the paint match, I think that those of us who see your video deserve a quality job with a final result that meets the best of your effort and although I understand your premise is to spend little money and do it well greetings.
Thanks, I think. Some fixes don't need to be perfect, it's always good to remember that. And the battery cover is a great example. It's hidden on the bottom of the vehicle and will never be seen. Currently the UK is in lockdown and has been for many months so I can't go the shops to find the exact match of paint so I just use what I have. It's not perfect but it does a good enough job for now. In future when I can get out and properly pick up paint again I may come back to this and repaint it. For now it works just fine. Things do not need to be 100% correct to be enjoyed. Wabi Sabi all the way.
Where do you get off fixing the toys that you own! HOW DARE YOU! Making a new battery cover?!? What gives you the right? Are you Mattel or a licensed representative of their company? Did you get PERMISSION? That battery cover will obviously spontaneously combust when those knock off wheel bands cause He-Man to wreck and kick the bucket leaving all of Eternia to fall under the unscrupulous Mwah-ha-ha-ha of Skeletor. You should leave broken incomplete toys broken and incomplete! THEY BELONG IN A MUSEUM!!! Okay I couldn't think of anymore dumb stuff to say so well done! Good find on the tape belts as wheel bands! Ha ha. Not noticed that one before. Thanks :D
That handmade battery cover was very impressive
Another awesome video Brother. Always suspenseful. Always rewarding. Thanks again.
The goofiest, most impractical, yet most awesome thing in the He-Man line. Always wanted one.
i still love he-man and the masters of the universe
18:07 Gigapixel did an amazing job on that old fluffy scan 😯
It's a clever toy - the MOTU vehicles were unique in how they moved, eschewing basic wheels and tracks.
One of the only things I remember from the cartoon was the way this thing moved. As soon as I saw it, it all came back to me. Some 80s toy engineer was very proud of this one, I hope.

I really must on with my collection. I loved he-man back in the day. Best toy line ever. I'd still love a guide to re-flocking Panthor.
My dad and his brother buried his old human 12 inch figures in my grandpa's backyard, I tried so hard to find them with a shovel. Sadly not luck.

I don't like those magic erasers. They are quite abrasive and can damage the plastic.

What about cutting a 4mm (or better 5, because the stretching will thin them out) strip of a bicycle innertube for the rubbers?
