Vintage Masters of the Universe Battle Bones repair - Toy Polloi

- If there is one vintage Masters of the Universe toy that is always broken, it's the Battle Bones carry case. The clips on the ribs are most often snapped off, and without those the 'carry' part of the set no longer works. It actually makes it pretty useless as a toy.
So today I take on the challenge of repairing the clips and getting the Battle bones working and ready to hold some of my Skeletor Army!

This is one of my favorites that you've done, Dave. Great fix for a super common issue. Off to find some broken battle bones!
Glad you like it!
Wes has got this spot on… great fix for a super common issue!!
I’m one of the lucky ones to own an undamaged one…. But as you say there getting harder to find and more likely to break as they get older….. you are a toy repair genius my friend👍👍
Love this one. Even back in the 80s/90s I saw only broken Battle Bones.
I honestly couldn’t tell it had been repaired at all. Brilliant!
I got Battle Bones as a Christmas gift in 1985. i was so lucky. And I still have a BB in my collection in perfect shape.
Wow absolutely fantastic, not many people could of done that, a superb fix, so much patience and talent and precision 😮😮☠️ 💀 and I've never known anyone to have so many Skeletors 😂😂
Thanks 👍 I have way to many Skeletors some would say 🤣
seeing that many nude skeletors in the battle babystroller bones gave me immense joy
good to see another great fix
I have a fully intact Battle Bones, and I'm *terrified* to use it, as a result. I'm so scared that I'll break it when I try to put a figure in.
Don't be afraid I use mine for my origins figures
@@TandLtoys haha, alright, I'll be brave. It would give me a little more room on my shelves.
@TandLtoys man I have to give up on origins, they have made SO MANY. The beauty of the vintage line is after the 80 or so figures I am DONE lol. They are great looking figures though!
What a nostalgic flashback you gave me with this repair. Back in the early 1970s, before modeller's putty came along, mixing Polystyrene Cement with plastic shavings was the only way to fill-in seems and gaps on one's models. Thank goodness for modern equipment. Cheers. Such a fine job.
Also, there aren’t many people who just happen to have twelve Skeletors to fill up their battle bones. I love it!
It can't just be me who has them to hand!
@@toypolloi I have eight I think, including Origins, Super7's Filmation version, and that's just 5.5" Skeletors
@@toypolloidude I have a weird skeletor variant I can't find any info on, he's got different feet and he's much darker paint colors. Ever heard of it? Love the videos as always!
There are lots of variants. Darker skin could be a hard head, or Leo version I believe?
@toypolloi I actually just did some more digging because of this and turns out it's a Chinese variant! His Armor and weapons are almost black, super cool. Thanks for the reply
Hell of a job, sir! That Faker arm on Skeletor was killing my OCD though. Hahaha.
turning your shavings into a paste! WELL DONE!! that is awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Absolutely incredible repair Dave! I’ve often wondered how I would repair a battle bones. Now I know! Great video dude!
Thnaks!
Ylu fo a great job, enjoy watching you repair the toys from my childhood. Awesome.
Thank you 🤗
That plastic weld putty gap-filler was genius!
This is possibly some of your best work. Some of the hardest repairs involve pieces that NEED to flex and need a sense of durability again, and you absolutely NAILED it. Although, since you didn't find the Battle Bones in the forest while you were walking (and filming) the credibility of this video is in question... lol
Great vid as always!
Thanks! If I had 'found' it in a forest the video would be getting views in the millions 🤣 Sadly for me I will be happy with a few thousand views like normal 🤷♂️
Hooray for the Skeletor double conga line 💀💙💜
Ok - so great vid and a fantastic fix - looks great - elephant in the room question - how many Skeletor's does one man need - seriously !!!!!🤣
The answer is: all of them!
Thanks. I need more! Don't think I quite have enough yet.
Wow! Great work yet again Dave. Brilliant thinking of using the Styrene sheet scrapings as an adhesive filler. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Masters of the Universe used ABS plastic, that's why MOTU playsets snap or develop cracks over time. Also it is very common to see 70s/80s Toys with thin shapes snap easily. This tutorial was great.
Okay but a Battle Bones FULL OF SKELETORS is legit one of the coolest things I have ever seen!! 😲😃😃😍
🤣
I would have thought those were broken for good.
Great repair idea and execution!
Thanks! 👍
Great fix, Dave! Imagine my surprise when you said THREE millimeter styrene, lol... Amazing color match, too!
I know! Who knew they made it in 3mm!
I just started working with styrene. Thank you for your content and helpful tips.
My pleasure
The wizard back at work allways amazing what you can do
Thanks. 🧙♂️
Maybe a little bit of some red in the paint but as usual, a very top notch and smart repair!!!!😍
the bones get brittle with age, happens to the best of us
I would love to see a white battle bones. Really white, instead of the yellowish. Would look awesome I bet. Maybe some cracks here and there with some shading. Man, I wish I was good at this stuff.
Spot on fix that, well impressed. Great way to display your Skelly army too. I've got one in similar condition. Maybe I could fix it and load it up with my army of stinkors. I've used plastic weld and plastic shavings to gap fill bits off Motu figures in the past. Usually on custom figures when I need to split the torso and cracks happen.
Thanks. They are a good way to hang figures on the wall. I will most likely do this with a few of my Skeletors now.
Hey Dave
Awesome fix. One might think Skeletor was your favourite figure....haha 😉
Take care of Yourself and Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP 😊
Thanks, you too!
Very nice repair, great job, congratulations !
Thank you very much!
Ya same!, This has to be one of your best fixes, this came out soo good! Kudos to you!
Thanks a lot!
What a fantastic and floorless repair, well done 😊
Many thanks!
Amazing stuff, love the Styro Plasti weld DIY filler will definitely be using that on my Gizmo barbie car luggage rack.
Great job 👏🏻
As always, great work! I like that you can pull out 12 skeletors just like that! :)
It's always good to have a dozen Skeletors to hand 🤣👍
I like that shaving-weld version of sprue-gue.
Mmh. Looking at how well this turned out, I might actually have to looking for my very own Battle Bones to get and repair.
Don’t think the battle bones was ever designed to carry 12 skeletor’s! But damn did it look good. Great video as always. Keeping it awesome.👍👍👍
That is all it was designed to carry as far as I am concerned! 😎
Lol
Such a wonderful restoration, Dave! I like it very much.
Many thanks!
Another great fix, happy to see this!
I actually had another way of doing it in my mind, by building an extra part or support on the backside, underneath the structure however that might not have been the best way of doing it or be without it´s flaws.
This is what i love about these fixing videos, the many different ways and solutions to a problem, some better then others, some just as good or even better. Keep on fixing and finding good solutions! Keep up the great work!
Absolute game-changer! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Incredible!!
Bravo, Dave!
Another great repair and not a single 3d printed part in the vicinity either lol.
As someone who both collects action figures and works with miniatures I have a fair bit of experience with making materials that don't like each other work together somehow by now, so I thought maybe I'd leave this here for anyone who's interested.
I'm fairly sure you've covered this in other videos but pinning or using tiny screws as anchors is always a good option too if possible, or scoring both surfaces that you're going to use superglue on given that unlike plastic weld it's not making the same type of bond, so the rough surface helps with that, and related to superglue also using baking soda as a gap filler can sometimes be useful, even though it can leave a bit of a texture or change colour over time if it isn't sanded and painted over, but it also helps with potentially brittle superglue attach points.
Keep up the good work, cheers!
Excellent 👌 😊
Almost makes me want to get one! Nice
Awesome repair, once again. I would not have thought using the shavings, I would have used Superglue and Baking soda. This would require more sanding and work.
Thanks 👍
What a great repair!
Freaking Awesome 👏 love it
Perfect timing! I just picked up one of these and was wondering how to fix it!
Glad I could help!
Great fix Dave, looks really good!
Thanks 👍
Amazing fix Dave, you're probably the only person out there atm with a complete battle bones due to this fix. You make what seems the impossible, very do-able. I just love to see an old broken toy reinstated to its original condition.
Wow, thanks!
Brilliant! Thanks!😊
You're welcome!
That plastic weld method is brilliant! Thanks for another great video!!
Thanks for watching!
A man like this has a lot of Skeletors in his closet.
It is a joy to watch you repair the "unrepairable".
Thanks!
I love your videos like this! Well done!
Thank you so much!
Dave, you make it look so easy! Thanks.
Can the real Skeletor please raise his hand? :)
I'm Skeleter 👋
@toypolloi 🤣 if you were the real one you'd call me a nincompoop.
Boob!
Amazing repair 😮
I wonder if plastic epoxy would hold well.
You have enough Skeletor's for Can Can stop action dance number in film.
Cada técnica incrível de restauração, a soldagem plástica nunca tinha visto antes. 👏
Muito Obrigado!
Toy Polloi, singlehandedly jacking up the price of vintage Skeletors!😂
So does the mouth open to put a He-Man in?
I think you store the weapons and accessories in the mouth when you use it to carry your figures.
@@travisboyle285 but after that, it's for chomping on He-Man, right?
Any thoughts on using just boiled water to soften the styrene instead of a heat gun? The heat gun I have is a bit to aggressive.
It doesn't get the styrene warm enough to bend. So a heat gun is needed. Cheers
How do you fix the feet of your 🎬 Figures ???
What issue do you mean? Loose legs on MOTU? I replace the bands with new ones. Check out my video son that.
They look like they're doing the conga
The 1960s just rang. They want their hot air gun back.
They can't have it 🤣
@@toypolloi 😂
Hold it while wearing oven mitt
I'm one of the few lucky I guess
Can u do a heman laser bolt repair?
I already have! ua-cam.com/video/ADGUjmCUfA4/v-deo.html&pp=ygUVdG95IHBvbGxvaSBsYXNlciBib2x0
Isn't a post-1994 2 pence piece 2.1mm?
Greetings. My name is Craig Hockley,
I hope you can help me. My son has a very limited edition Disney Infinity Peter Pan and our puppy has chewed the head area and also chewed off the little red feather that should be attached to the head. This is a prize possession for my Son we great personal value to him.
I have photos of the damage but more than happy to send more over if needed.
Please can you review this and let me know if you can repair this or know of anyone or organisation that could help me?
Regards, Craig Hockley.
lucky me i guess
Lol how many naked skeletor's do u have on the thumbnail lol
Battle Bones holds 12 figures. So 12 😎
@@toypolloi my god though that alot of naked skeletor's lol
Vrhunski
Gotta love a bit of Sprue-Goo to fill in gaps.
I remember the first time i found out about that, it changed the miniatures hobby forever for me
It works great for certain projects like this. Especially when you have to make shavings in the first place. Cheers
