Even on their skateboards Jan & Dean & co. deftly demonstrate that "Thunder Road" was never much more than one of those tethered kiddie park auto rides. A masterpiece of youthful spirit for the ear and eye!
I remember seeing this on TV the full show in the 60's when it first aired. Although only about 8 years old I was a huge Jan & Dean fan and had many of their albums then. Since then I've seen them 13 times live and was invited by Jan to hang out in the dressing room with him and Dean and the backup band. Nicest guys you could ever meet.
@@Texaslawhorn Jan and Dean kidnapped Frank Jr as a prank... Needless to say that didn't set well with Frank Sr. and cost Jan and Dean the leading roles in Ride the Wild Surf, and probably cost some of their concert contracts, thanks to Frank Sr. But it boiled down to kids being kids and it's all fun and games unless it makes Frank Sr. unhappy.
I always got a laugh out of that. If the Beatles were from Liverpool, well, then ALL English groups had to be from Liverpool, right? Never from that backwater country town in the southeast, London, nooooo.....
My parents and I love them and my mother Dana is with them in heaven but don't worry you will be able to see them and you can ask them questions about what they used to do sincerely Shannon
I can't say it enough.....these guys were so cool! I love them!

1955-1969 were the best years ever for rock'n'roll

Loved the show and this song. However, the Rolling Stones are not from Liverpool.

At 2:31 you can spot Dee Dee, from the duo, Dick and Dee Dee.
The Rolling Stones are not from Liverpool
+Lori Reeve Well, Jan and Dean wouldn't know that, as they were from Turkmenistan.
Alonzo Garbanzo lol, that's funny! Of course, The Pacemakers were from Uzbekistan, while the Supremes hailed from Upper Volta.
True! They were from Dartford Kent. But anyone from England was from 'Liverpool', back then I suppose.
In a later Jan and Dean song called Music City, a remake of this song, they changed that lyric from Liverpool to London-town.
