Really appreciated your take on these new drivers Peter. At age 58, I really have understood the quest for distance as ive gotten older, but, i have really come to the conclusion that, i would rather sacrifice distance in order to ensure fairway finding.
@@topshelfsoles I have a SIM2 MAX 9.0 loft with an AIR SPEEDER shaft. It is stiff flex but enhances the ability to get the ball airborne quickly. I have a slow, controlled swing and concentrate on good facial contact. With todays tech, you really dont need to swing hard or fast to get decent distance. Most folks lose the most strokes around and on the greens. So my practice is usually short game, sand play, and putting.
I think in this age of golf, we don't always need explosive clubs. A "nice driver" is exactly what the vast majority of golfers need and I think the Rogue ST looks and plays the part beautifully
It's weird because while everyone is talking about the Stealth, I've been leaning towards the Rogue. To me the Rogue looks absolutely stunning (I love the simplistic design) and the numbers seem to suggest it performs really well. I can't wait to try this out and see what Cobra have to offer as well.
Your Reviews so far this year have been top notch and some of the most thorough I have seen. Great work Peter! Thanks for your honest input on the new equipment this year!
I went from an M4 to a Stealth head recently and the difference in forgiveness is STUNNING. I feel like the OB right miss just isn’t there anymore with the Stealth; that’s not to say I don’t still over-cut some drives but I’m not really slicing anymore. And the sound that thing makes is just fantastic
Tomorrow I’m getting fit for driver and fairway woods. Thanks to this fantastic review it will make my decision easier with the driver. I’m not a great ball striker and the forgiveness across the face of the Rogue would best suite me. One of my goals this year is to make sure I have clubs that help me enjoy the game by playing clubs with more forgiveness that also have the performance I’m after as well. Thank you M8!
I love my G425 so much and there isn’t enough in the Rogue to make me want to change. If I didn’t have the G425 I could be tempted though. The only thing to consider is that you can get some deals on the Ping but will probably be paying full price on the Callaway from a little while yet. The most interesting thing is that more and more people are now saying the the Rogue is the best driver to drop this month and maybe people are realising that the hype that came with the Stealth just doesn’t match performance.
I think the hype in the Stealth is more about debuting a novel construction (all carbon) and equalling or slightly exceeding last year's cutting edge with the SIM; it doesn't make a lot of sense to upgrade from the SIM or SIM2 to the Stealth, but it's still remarkable to debut something completely new and be at or even ahead of last year's top-of-the-line performance.
100%. I sheared a screw trying to move the weight in my G425 and gave it to my pro. He sent it back to Ping who, without question, sent me a brand new club within a week. Terrific service and an awesome club. I had the G400 before this one and loved that, the 425 is even better
Thank-you Pete! Your assessment exactly matches the conclusion you can draw between these two across all reviews and reviewers...callaway consistent, TM ..left, right, short, and long. Excellent! Thanks!
What I really like about ur videos Pete, is that u are realistic in ur opinions. I always have an issue with reviews that says, this driver will give u increased distance, total bullcrap. Distance comes with clubhead speed. No driver will give u that extra 20 yards unless u have speed. But reviews of drivers that are forgiving , totally right. Good job
Good honest review Pete I currently play the old rouge and found it the most consistent fairway finder when I got fitted over everything else Really the new taylormade is no different to anything else for the average golfer (just expensive)
Pretty sure I've watched 20+ reviews of this nature and this is beyond doubt the best. I'll tell you why. Beautifully presented. Only pertinent data. Clear logical conclusion. I had a two hour fitting session with True Fit and it was Peter's review that helped me decide between the Stealth, the Rouge Max and the Cobra LS.
Out of all the Rogue reviews I feel like this was the one that did it justice. The Stealth promotes all the noise which is fine but it's making people overlook drivers like this and Mizuno. Well done by not sidelining the Rogue just because nothing is "new" about it.
I do buy new clubs but but new for me is at least 1 year old or more. And more often try to buy used clubs newer than my old ones. It's like driving a car off the lot and loosing money the second you buy it. The TM Stealth looks cool if you build it with your own color options from the TM website but $700 for a driver is absurd. Thanks for the review Pete and recommendation!
What I’ve notice recently it’s that the Stealth has been offered at a lower price from some retailers,, once people, apparently , are not getting the expected results that TaylorMade has announced. From the beginning of the Marketing War of this two brands ,I’ve always preferred trying the Rogue first and I think this review has helped me a lot. Thanks!
Just a few months ago moved to a Callaway Mavrik having had Titleist drivers for almost 10 years. Quite frankly I don’t get concerned with marketing hype, I’ll buy what suits me, my eye, my ears and my wallet. Tried everything and it worked best for me, which is why it’s in the bag
I play the original sim, some days I found miss hits were just a shocker but it made go back to doing what I feel I do well with a driver and now I feel like I couldn’t swap it out. There’s a big thing about “I need to be the longest hitter in my group or club” or people not being truthful with their yardages on UA-cam and in comments. I carry my sim on average around 275-280 and that gets me past most people but on one hand I wish I went down the route of a more forgiving driver at the time, however would that of gave me the miss hits that made me almost re learn the driver swing! Choosing a driver is like the dating scene 😂!! Unreal content again Pete! Bring back subscriber matches and I’ll play you for that tenner in Newcastle under Lyme
Never been a fan of the look of Callaway drivers. Be interesting to see this compared to the new Mizuno STZ 220 and see if Mizuno's claims on consistency/stability line up to what Callaway have done. All the companies know distance is pretty much maxed now so the improvements are about how good your miss hits are.....which is what golf is all about really.
Good review Pete. Kind of aligns with Rick on Stealth. Peak ball speed impressive, for many people they won’t get the benefit. Callaway looks very good across the face.
I have a 3hr full bag minus putter coming up at club champion. Excited to see what I’m leaving on the table with my current ping g400 green dot stiff irons and King F9 stiff hzd smoke. Never had a pro fitting before.
I have to agree. I hit the Max, the Stealth, & the Cobra on trackman at a fitting. I'm a mid handicapper & get my share of all of the face. The Max was the most consistent for me across the face and I can't wait for it to come in.
Great review and analysis Pete. I have concerns regarding the long term durability of the Stealth's face. The Rogue appears to be a good combination of speed and forgiveness. I also like the shaft choices that are offered for the Rogue at no upcharge.
G425 max is my baby. Find fairway 98-100%. And I only play golf 1 year now. It's such a reliable and forgiving driver. It won't give you the best distance like the others on the market but it definitely help keep my ball on the fairway so I can enjoy my game.
Peter, that was one of the best review / comparison test I've seen in a long time. You got down to the nitty gritty without my eyes glazing over. Really enjoyable, thanks
Thanks for this great side-by-side review. I'm thinking about finally updating my driver (playing an old Nike that has been very good to me since I bought it new almost 20 years ago, haha) and this new Callaway really does seem to check the boxes for what I'm looking for in a new driver. I have zero brand loyalty, so I've been paying close attention to the reviews and educating myself on the new offerings. This was a great informative review! Love having the data to back up my decisions. Ultimately, I'll need to go and hit them and see how they feel, but this gave lots of great info.
Pete, I think this is a great review. Probably the most balanced review I've seen yet across 3 of the big players. I will say you definitely need to try the Max LS against the Stealth. I think those are a better comparison across the lineup for an apples to apples comparison. Where I see them is the Stealth is between the Rogue ST Max and Max LS. The Stealth Plus is between the Rogue Max LS and the Max Triple Diamond LS as far as comparables. Interested to see where you fit.
The trouble with that may be that it's a golf club, not a magic wand. You still need to be able to hit the ball with a decent connection and some sort of consistency.
@@markwilliams8903 but thats a true test still, because a different club might be better to someone hitting bad shots. Petes bad shots are not what we would call a bad shot.
I've just placed an order for a custom built Rogue ST Max (after a driver fitting session) and can't wait to get out to hit with it, was finding it was very forgiving and gained 20-30meters on my old driver which is huge (old driver was a Head 10.5 degrees and is probably 20 years old). Found the G425 had a much higher spin rate than the Rogue for my type of swing, so worth getting fitted to see these numbers otherwise I was dead sold on the G425
Id agree with you that its a grand looking club but Id hope that Callaway would be forgiving when I say its too expensive for me at least. Great review as always with a startling result - good work Peter. Cheers
I love the new rogue. Really want it. I have the old one and love it too🤣 What put me off the g425 was the sound and feel. Mostly the sound The callaway seems to have the same forgivness but with better feel and sound. When it comes to the shop I am really going to have to think about it🤣 Love the look of it aswell. Think the new Taylor made looks ridiculous with its red face and don't like the name or the headcover🤣 but then I am a callaway guy so I was always going to be team rogue
I would also add that fine tuning the shaft enhances the ability of the golf head to do what it's designed to do. A bad unaligned shaft is disasterous to a great golf head. I am surprised that golf companies are not aligning their shafts to the degree on the club., especially for what they are charging for the clubs.
They have all caught up with one another. 20 odd years of messing around they have maxxed out on COR and MOI that is allowed by the USGA and R&A. The only difference now is dispersion which ends up in the hands of the buyer on the opposite end of the stick from the ball. If you swing at 100 mph and hit it out of the middle, the ball is only allowed to go 250 yds. ...and it does.
Just ordered my G425. The numbers and accuracy compared to the stealth/rogue/cobra was amazing. 20/30 yards on the others ands way more accuarate. Just need to wait 16 weeks for it…..🤯😭
You won't regret buying it. And their customer's service is par none. I bought mine last year. Played 6 rounds and heard a weird noise. Called Ping and they sent me a brand new club in 3 days (including shipping). I play G245max and it finds fairway every time. I just need to work on my short game to improve my score.
You say the only difference is ball speed but I see it as also the same. You had, although very slightly, faster club speed with the Rogue which would result in a faster ball speed. I see the Ping slightly edging the Rogue because it had the same carry and total distance despite being "slower". At the end of the day though, both are designed to find the fairway so probably can't go wrong with either.
I'm excited I'll probably be able to get a like new Rogue ST in a year on Callaway PO after whatever next year's groundbreaking driver Callaway comes up with after the stealth hype dies down.
This review is great, but there is just one thing missing. You need to do a review on the new Mizuno driver. I promise you that they are quite similar to the Taylormade drivers, but they fit into people's budgets a bit more. Even if you don't particularly like the club just show us if it compares to the top brands because it is considerably cheaper.
Hitting the callaway this week looking forward to trying it ,couldn't get on with stealth my spin numbers were too high even with the plus model , still gaming my sim max with hazardous green smoke shaft
Just bought a like new used Speed Zone Xtreme for $180, so maybe when one of these drivers gets down to that price in about 10 years, I'll think about buying one.
You need to compare the Max LS to the Stealth. The 200 rpm will put the distance in the same category and the forgiveness will still blow the Stealth away and the TD LS vs the Stealth Plus will be a good matchup
@@peterfinchgolf haha I’m trying to look out for your game! I could see the Max LS in your bag cause it’s long and the stability & forgiveness is incredible!
I’m considering changing out my Srixon ZX5 driver to the a new one and the Callaway may just have topped the leader board after this video. I’ll try a few out, but I love Callaway anyway. Just changing out my ZX4 irons to the Apex-21 (waiting on delivery) so let’s see where we go from here ;-)
For me the stealth looks like the equivalent of a focus st with big bore exhaust while the callaway looks like a nice Aston Martin. Sometimes less is more.
Question: Your pack, Finch, Fryer & Shiels among with Crossfield all use the GC-Quad. We do not see that on tour as much as Trackman radars. Any particular reason not using Trackman in your reviews, cause that too works on battery.
I have the rogue max and honestly it's the best driver I've ever had and or hit, maybe it's just suited to me but i can't see me changing it for a good long while
This was precisely the test I asked for, but am shocked that the G425 has been toppled by the Callaway. However, I'm not surprised by the Stealth. Just another Taylor Made gimmicky bomber. Great stuff Pete 👏
I can wait to hit both in the shop I work in. There's just something different about callaway drivers though. There's almost a comfort or something when standing over them and hitting them that I don't get with other brands. Might have to get one in the bag finally
Didn't expect to hear a British golfer say "murdered out" today, but thrilled nonetheless 😂. Been considering a Ping G425 Max for a while now, but will now add the Callaway to my list to consider. Great review!
I know the stealth would be my choice as I usually feel more comfortable over a Taylormade then the others. But I am super excited to see the progression of the new carbon fiber faces especially if the others adapt it to their technologies like Callaways jail break
This video is "class" lol. Was planning to get the G425 but now the Rogue ST is in the running to get my hard earned $$. Keep making great content, Peter!
i only have one problem with this tes.t is that when u do this test its should be with same shaft through the whole test. becous maybe the shaft in rouge fits u better or etc. shaft makes in my opinion more diffrance then face most often then not. good video as always anyway

Just bought a like new used Speed Zone Xtreme for $180, so maybe when one of these drivers gets down to that price in about 10 years, I'll think about buying one.
Thanks Pete! Great information 👍🏌🏼♂️💥 ⛳️
Thanks~~~~
You need to compare the Max LS to the Stealth. The 200 rpm will put the distance in the same category and the forgiveness will still blow the Stealth away and the TD LS vs the Stealth Plus will be a good matchup
So many drivers so little time 😂
@@peterfinchgolf haha I’m trying to look out for your game! I could see the Max LS in your bag cause it’s long and the stability & forgiveness is incredible!
@@peterfinchgolf so this comment aged nicely!! Hope it’s still working out for you!
Good review but wonder why think rogue better than ping because ball speed higher but carry and total yards the same?
Did everything the ping did but gave a little more ball speed BUT it also felt better. Not leaps and bounds better but enough for me
@@peterfinchgolf fair enough on the feel, just numbers wise totals same just got there different way with speed
I use the triple diamond with extra stiff shaft. Love the club. Easily my most favorite club I’ve ever hit.
I’m a +2 and I had to sell mine, couldn’t hit it at all
I’m considering changing out my Srixon ZX5 driver to the a new one and the Callaway may just have topped the leader board after this video.
Would love to see you add the TourEdge Exotics Pro 721 to this lineup
Really an impressive review, thank you.
How did you find the Ascent Red shaft on the Stealth driver ?
I have the rogue max and honestly it's the best driver I've ever had and or hit, maybe it's just suited to me but i can't see me changing it for a good long while
This was precisely the test I asked for, but am shocked that the G425 has been toppled by the Callaway. However, I'm not surprised by the Stealth. Just another Taylor Made gimmicky bomber. Great stuff Pete 👏
Thanks~~~~
Cheers Pete. Interesting stuff. Quality over quantity, just good honest reviewing. 🤜⛳🤛
Thanks for the video Peter
I love the new callaway, its much better than last year with the epic
Very interesting. Could you address a similar comparison for the senior golfer who may require a lightweight shaft ?
I can wait to hit both in the shop I work in. There's just something different about callaway drivers though. There's almost a comfort or something when standing over them and hitting them that I don't get with other brands. Might have to get one in the bag finally
Thanks~~~~
Any senior golfer can't go wrong by picking the Ping G425 Max. Matched with the correct shaft for the swing... Ping is king!
Where dit you get that mizuno pencile holder??!!😍
Didn't expect to hear a British golfer say "murdered out" today, but thrilled nonetheless 😂. Been considering a Ping G425 Max for a while now, but will now add the Callaway to my list to consider. Great review!
Definitely one to consider mate!
Great video....do you really think that the st max is more forgiving then g425 max?
Good stuff Pete, interesting review.
Thanks~~~~
Pete liked it so much there is no chance of a club give away on this video.
Which one should I buy if I’m a intermediate golfer hitting about 230 carry with a little slice? Stiff flex ?
Thanks~~~~
I know the stealth would be my choice as I usually feel more comfortable over a Taylormade then the others. But I am super excited to see the progression of the new carbon fiber faces especially if the others adapt it to their technologies like Callaways jail break
Currently gaming the old rouge driver and love it but this review has got me thinking about a fitting for a new driver
This video is "class" lol. Was planning to get the G425 but now the Rogue ST is in the running to get my hard earned $$. Keep making great content, Peter!
.Thanks~~~~
Thanks for the info 👍
i only have one problem with this tes.t is that when u do this test its should be with same shaft through the whole test. becous maybe the shaft in rouge fits u better or etc. shaft makes in my opinion more diffrance then face most often then not. good video as always anyway
It may not have many new features per se but it does feature a new combination of features
Hi Pete, how did u got the taylormade stealth driver so early?
