The 2017 Taylormade M1 is such a great combination of looks, feel, distance, forgiveness and ability to adjust. It's in my bag (and I think it is still one of the best drivers available for a large segment of golfers).
I use a Ping G30 which I bought from eBay for £70. It’s very forgiving but now aged 67 I think it was the fact it had a senior flex shaft attached that made the biggest difference and allows me as a 20 handicapper just getting back into golf (stop playing through injury for 15 years) to hit some drives over 200 yards.
I bought the Mizuno Stz about 3 months ago and it has changed my game. I can definitely attest that it is very forgiving and I’m definitely keeping more golf balls than before!
Same here! I got lucky that it worked so well for me after blindly buying the club because it was on sale at Roger Dunn. I immediately started hitting it very well and far! Everyone kept asking me what my club was which was a great feeling. I love my STZ
Still playing my Mizuno st 190 I bought in 2020. The forgiveness is my favorite thing about it. I hit out of the toe often and they usually still do pretty good.
I liked that one but I couldn’t hit it well at all. Do pretty good with the G410 I got. I also really liked the stealth and it hit well. But not trying to spend that much and the carbon face worries me about durability.
I use a Ping G425 (which I actually picked up from golfbidder) as I’d watched loads of reviews. I’ve been happy with it but am not the most consistent off the tee. Last week I played golf abroad and used a hire set, which had a Callaway Epic Driver, and I hit it long and straight again and again. Shows the benefit of really testing before buying and not always needing the newest to improve your game.
The guys laughed at me today as I carried 7 drivers to the golf course. None of which were over 3 years old except for the driver that I currently use which is the Callaway XR 9.5 ... None of the newer drivers go any further than the XR and the XR is a fairway finder for me. The latest new driver I have is the Callaway Rouge max, 9 degree, stiff shaft, (all the drivers have the stiff shaft). I hate the sound of a carbon infused driver but could get used to it if I saw an advantage but like the Cobra, or Sim2 nothing beats the XR for me. I sold one of the Callaway Epic speed drivers today. Ping is to loud and sounds like I crack the face every time I hit it with a center strike ! So with the rules being the way they are for drivers I doubt we will see much improvement other than sounds and looks anytime soon.
I had a M2 in the bag for a few years but switched to a Cobra F8 about 3 years ago. The M2 definitely sounded better, but the F8 has definitely helped with the off center strikes... As a born and bred Wisconsin boy, I sure hope that cow is ok!
I bought a Cobra King Speedzone driver this year with a regular shaft since stiff doesn't fit me. It was a cheap driver since it's a several years old model at this stage, but I couldn't be happier with the results! The driver increased my distance in a ridiculous fashion and it's by far the best driver I've spent money on. It feels good to use, the sound it makes on a clean hit is incredibly satisfying and it even looks good! Plus, it's pretty forgiving. I'd say this driver alone is what made me lower my handicap with several notches this year thanks to the extra distance I got which made approach shots a lot more manageable. 👍
I have always purchased used drivers around 2 or 3 years old. The major issue is getting fitted as the club professionals will fit you for a new club but none have the selection of used clubs available to test and check the numbers for. The service for used clubs from Golf Bidder is just second to none .. Brilliant.
Great content - the one factor I would add that should be considered when selecting a driver is desired shot shape - i.e. pick a head that can be opened or closed and is constructed to help you hit the shape you want to hit - i.e. those M1 & M2, in my opinion, are best if you like to hit pro-fades - I've owned them both and that is what they prefer. If you want to hit Draws, don't buy a low-spin head, etc, etc. We play a shop shape - find a club that helps.
I'm playing the M6 right now that I got 2 years ago second hand for $150. Just went to a fitting experience with Titleist, and they said that even though the new driver was a little more consistent, it doesn't outperform my current driver enough to warrant making the switch.
I'm rockin the Taylormade SIM driver, have had it for almost a year and a half, absolutely love it. Able to fairly consistently find the middle of the face now and the sound is just pure perfection when the middle is struck.
I use the 2018 callaway rogue. I messed around with the setting myself and found the sweet spot in addition to cutting off 1.5 inches from the standard stiff shaft length. Bomb fairways 300+ fairly consistently. While playing baseball for 20 years helps me generate lots of swing force, it’s because of UA-camrs like yourself that have helped me fine-tune my game down into the 70s❤❤.
2018 Rogue is an absolute blessing of a club, how it doesn't get more mention when it honestly performs really similar to the new model blows my mind. The club is so damn forgiving, my miss-hit is a heel strike and I still bomb those 240m+ down the middle of the fairway with a slight fade.
Agreed. I got one second hand when I stopped using my Rbz and needed a new shaft. It’s brilliant and was only £130 odd pounds compared to any of the new rogues with are £450 minimum
Traded drivers with my neighbor and must say the G425 max has provided me everything I could want on the forgiveness side. Working with a coach to reshape my swing for more consistency
My handicap is 18.2. Back in the summer I went to a golf shop with a net and a launch monitor here in the Netherlands with the intention of buying a driver, but the pro there told me I should fix a flaw in my swing before buying one. I was getting too much backspin. I guess I should be grateful to the guy, but I really liked the look of the Ping driver…
I picked up a fusion early Summer 2022 for £30! Spotless condition too, i love it draw setting 9.5deg it passed my PB with my SIM2 285 yards. Straighter too. It makes you think what marketing has turned us into.
Very helpful for those with lower budgets. I have a Big Bertha 816 Alpha DBD driver and matching 3 and 5 wood. I bought them used. They are very adjustable. The driver is one of the longest of its day (2016). It seems to hold up well against the new drivers. Because my driver club length is significantly longer than standard I removed the weight altogether and replaced the cap. I also bought lighter sole weights for the fairways. With the two (front and back) sole weights in the fairways I can adjust draw-fade bias. They are still about D-5. They are all X-flex. Top of the line used clubs are way better than new cheaper quality new clubs.
I bought the Cobra King F9 at the end of 2019 and it is still in the bag. Turned down to 9° with the 14g weight forward. It is the best driver I've ever known. I have the arctic white with the matte finish and is is beautiful
Happy Xmas I have just purchased the Mizuno STZ At 40% off the list price it’s a steal. At 61 I’m only hitting 240 yards max but my stats are 50% fairway hits so it’s time to improve I will still use a stiff shaft and set at 10.5 degrees as per my old Mizuno. Keep the videos coming Thanks Rob J
Been golfing for about a year and a half, found a G20 with a stiff shaft in it for 100$ hitting around 250 with it, super forgiving, confidence boosting. My other driver was much newer, couldn't hit it more than 225. Huge difference when you find one that is works for you,
I play with a Ping G20 driver and three wood. I had a fitting recently and my pro said no point in changing them as I would only gain around 5 yards so just not worth it considering I’d recently been fitted for new irons which gave me over 20 yards gain in distances combined with my lesson.
Just recently switch from the 2019 TaylorMade M2 with an Aldila NVS green shaft to the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS with a slightly heavier Tensei white shaft (65g). Gained about 15-20 yards off the tee, but more importantly my shot dispersion is now much tighter. I’ve always been a more wristy player so having that extra help to lower spin has been refreshing to see. Highly recommend both clubs.
G425 Max. I tried virtually every major driver last year. It was easily the best for my game. Keep more in play, less super spinny/bending shots. Still plenty of pop. (Hit two drives 312 & another at 297 on Sat. All in the middle.)
Still using a Callaway X2 Hot. About 18 months ago changed out of the stock shaft to an Aldila Synergy Blue. It is like a new club. Went to Callaway demo day at my club and tried ST Max with different shafts including my own, and different lofts, not nearly as long and almost no difference in accuracy. Feel, looks and sound very important in a driver imho.
I love that this is the video for today! just got back from a round and i stopped pulling out the driver after the 4th hole and just hit my irons for the rest of the round lol
I don’t actually carry a driver. Could never hit one consistently so ditched carrying one. Have been looking at the taylormade M1 though and learning how to hit it over the winter
I carry the Mizuno ST-Z. I love the lower penetrating ball flight I get compared to my old Cobra Speedzone. Here in Texas we have alot of wind to contend with.
With the Cobra F9, make sure you get one with the milled face. There are Cobra F9's without the milled face that was made for a specific distributor in a cheap generic set that you will not get the same results out of.
I actually picked up a gen 5 pxg driver and it's brilliant. Solid as a rock...for the price you can pick up an 0211 as well it could have made the list for sure.
2017 Taylormade M1, 10.5 head turned down to 9.75, middle settings on weights, stiff shaft, avg of 266 yards this season. Love this driver, got fitted for stealth and still stayed with this....
I have a Cobra RadSpeed XB driver that's super forgiving and pretty long, but I recently bought a brand new standard RadSpeed driver for $199.00 It's still in the wrapper, because I'm afraid it might be too low spin for my 60 year old swing speed, so I may just resell it as new.
JPX EZ - shortened shaft by 1.5" (happy gilmour that didint work- DOH) a little shorter in distance but also a little more straighter, so can't complain, cheers great review
Great videos Peter. MINE IS MAVRIK SUB ZERO . Best drives before were 230 to 240 yds now in summer 285 to 290 plus but not yet 300 yds. set at D +1 on 9° driver high ball flight, is best in summer winter -1 D
Love my G410; as a low spin player it helped me to hit more fairways and increase my distance by 10-15 yards. I’m know hitting drives where I hit them in my 20s. Can’t recommend it enough for someone who needs spin without jacking the loft up crazy high.
2nd Swing Golf is selling a 9 degree 2016 Callaway Big Bertha Fusion driver. They ship internationally with FedEx. That may be the low loft super forgiving driver you mentioned in your video.
That was cool. Thanks for the info. And just for fun I own an M-1. Love it. Replaced my TM Burner with it. Getting an extra 15 yards. I put both weights all the way back and went to maximum loft and going straight as hell. Thanks Pete
Cheers. I need a upgrade from my Callaway B.B 2. Can smash my driver about 280-300yds total with natural draw. I really like TS3, F9 and BB Fusion. Might grab all 3 and depending on the day, course and feel choose on the fly.
I've used the F9 that I got for cheap off Amazon a year and a half ago. It's pretty fantastic overall. This winter I'm going to invest in some lessons.
Just bought a new Titleist TSI 1 driver. I'm 66 years old, slower speed speed and my goal is to hit it straight with reasonable distance. As of now it's looks like its the best driver I ever had. Aslo bought the fairway 3 TSI2 a week later and I am hitting it so good.
I've got a Titleist 915 D3. It's got a slighter smaller head so makes me concentrate more and not try to hit a Bryson. More middle hits , doesn't float up, and looks good. Second hand on ebay for £100 with upgrade shaft. Boom! 😁💣💥
loved the vid... I currently play a Wilson D9.. but have never been fitted for a driver. working on swing etc with lessons then once I'm comfortable. I'll go for a fitting, although depends what the prices go up to by then!
Great video Pete. I bought a Fusion driver a few months ago (on your recommendation from a review you did a couple of years ago - yes it took me that long to get it at a bargain price!) and just giving it a practice swing you can feel the balance difference straight away
I'm rocking a speedzone extreme in Arctic white. I need bit of forgiveness being a 18 handicap but I get it out there and am confident with it in my hands.
Awesome video Pete, thank you.I use a Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 Driver. Started playing golf in 2016 with this driver. Love this driver but would love to upgrade one day. Yes, it is holding me back I believe. Handicap is 6.2 and can be lower with a new driver. Getting a spin rate of around 6000 (tested it at the Pro Shop in South Africa). Would you might donating one? :) Anyway, thanks for the fabulous videos.
I played a 915D3 for a few months before getting a TSr3. TSr3 is hotter and more forgiving but it was 10% of the TSr3. There are definitely killer deal gems out there.
Loved this. I've been playing with Donnay clubs (I know) for the past 3 years after picking up some clubs from a relative. They must be about 25 years old but they're still in good condition. I'm really tempted by the Callaway GBB Epic.
Super videos, and love your swing. I keep rewinding to watch the swing. Thanks. A couple of questions if you dont mind. How far is your tee from the screen, and which screen are you using?
My brother gave me his old R 11 and I gained about 10 yrds. over my 905r. I had a habit of slicing/fading very bad sometimes and that has gone away. As my swing improves I like the R 11 more and more.. I hit 95 to 100 mph at 61 yrs old and get up to 275 out of it. I can't really get a full backswing due to my back but I will take that now that I am finding fairways most of the time.
Was fitted a few years back and have the Ping G410 plus. As a senior golfer using shotscope V3 performance average for 2022 is 235 yards, hitting the fairway almost 50% of the time.
I tried treating myself and went for a cobra LTDX LS however I struggled with it and then I won the taylormade stealth, didn't get on with it but was really wanting to get on with it so went and got fitted for a shaft and still wasn't getting on with it. sold both drivers and bought My mates srixon X785 and I am absolutely smashing it
Great to see a review of recent rather than latest models. My thoughts are that since they've all maxed out COR nearly 10 years ago, all they can do now is improve forgiveness and play w spin. With new drivers at 600+ I usually wait to buy a driver thats 1 or 2 models prior, at a great price (currently Cal Epic Max (picked up for $130 in 2022)). I try the latest stuff but won't replace a club unless I can see an improvement on a launch monitor, which is getting harder to do. I don't have a brand loyalty and have 5 brands in the bag. Now, how about a video like this with irons? Mine are 8 yrs old and I can't find anything that outperforms them.
I am going back and forth right now between a Cobra Speedzone and a Titleist 917D2 - I was struggling with the big stick until I tried a 50g stiff Diamana shaft in the Titleist, started smoking most of my drives once I put in the lighter shaft. Have an Xcaliber T6+ shaft in the Cobra, think it is 73g, but the lighter shafts were not working in the Speedzone, once I put the stiffer heavier shaft in I got far better results. I love my Titleist, have complete confidence swinging that driver, but the Cobra gives me more distance on a center strike..... trying different weight combinations now to see what happens lol 19g in front and 12g in the rear position so far has proven best, but it is noticeably heavier than the Titleist driver. Lots to tinker with over the winter......
I upgraded last season to an LTDx LS from an old Nike Sumo. I didn't get fitted for it but felt like I knew my numbers well enough to make an educated guess on the shaft. The good news is that I'm driving it 15 yards longer on average. What I was really surprised with was how much ball speed is retained on off-center hits compared to the old driver. Of course, now I'm planning on taking it in to try some different shafts. I'm very happy with it but think that I might have it a little too stiff for my swing speed.
I'd also throw the Speedzone/xtreme in there from a forgiveness perspective and it was really an upgrade from the f9 with the infinity face and better looking crown. The sole of the f9 was one of the best ever. Can't believe cobra moved away from that look
Good informative review of drivers Peter; loved it. Also liked the dance moves at 13;43 - is the gym work is helping? Quite fancy the look of the TM Mini Driver to be honest; may just go get one from GolfBidder
Man oh man I would love to try all of those drivers but I am currently striking a Titleist TS1 and a Callaway Rogue blue. TS1 spends way more time in the bag
The 2017 Taylormade M1 is such a great combination of looks, feel, distance, forgiveness and ability to adjust. It's in my bag (and I think it is still one of the best drivers available for a large segment of golfers).

Was the injury caused by golf?
Excellent video, I really like the look of the Taylormade Mini.
I bought the Mizuno Stz about 3 months ago and it has changed my game. I can definitely attest that it is very forgiving and I’m definitely keeping more golf balls than before!
Hearing good reports about Mizuno drivers . Going for a driver fitting in 2 wks . Always loved Ping woods but be interested to try Mizuno
Own STZ, but i think Ping is more forgiving.
I liked that one but I couldn’t hit it well at all. Do pretty good with the G410 I got. I also really liked the stealth and it hit well. But not trying to spend that much and the carbon face worries me about durability.

Weird g425 is loads more forgiving than the epic
Nike driver review part of this vid was brilliant😂😂(I'm easily amused)👍👍

Brilliant edit, nice work Team Finch
Thank you! ❤
I'm rockin the Taylormade SIM driver, have had it for almost a year and a half, absolutely love it. Able to fairly consistently find the middle of the face now and the sound is just pure perfection when the middle is struck.
Rocking the G425 in xstiff at 9° loft. Love it. Great driver.
Got the M2 2017 from the bidder of golf! It performs super well.
Just started this summer, I've got a slazenger v300. Thanks for the insite on driver's, still not sure which to get. Keep them videos coming.
what did you decide on
Such a good video. Buying a TS3 for the back up bag
I use the 2018 callaway rogue. I messed around with the setting myself and found the sweet spot in addition to cutting off 1.5 inches from the standard stiff shaft length. Agreed. I got one second hand when I stopped using my Rbz and needed a new shaft. It’s brilliant and was only £130 odd pounds compared to any of the new rogues with are £450 minimum
@@mjpovey8563 I got mine second hand too for $100 USD for just the head. I had a shaft for it already so it mated perfectly.
Traded drivers with my neighbor and must say the G425 max has provided me everything I could want on the forgiveness side. Working with a coach to reshape my swing for more consistency
I currently have the cobra f9 speedback, I don't think that I NEED an upgrade, but have always loved the look of the Ping G425.
My handicap is 18.2. Back in the summer I went to a golf shop with a net and a launch monitor here in the Netherlands with the intention of buying a driver, but the pro there told me I should fix a flaw in my swing before buying one. I picked up a fusion early Summer 2022 for £30! Spotless condition too, i love it draw setting 9.5deg it passed my PB with my SIM2 285 yards. Straighter too. It makes you think what marketing has turned us into.

14:47 ball striking supremo that used to have a connection to Nike... Good to see Rick's old club on the market!
I bought the Cobra King F9 at the end of 2019 and it is still in the bag. Turned down to 9° with the 14g weight forward. It is the best driver I've ever known. I have the arctic white with the matte finish and is is beautiful
Just bought Ping G410 Plus and hitting almost 300 yard drives first time on the course is great.
Huge difference when you find one that is works for you,
Currently using a Callaway Mavrik Max. Absolutely love it. Very forgiving and helping me find the fairway a lot more
I play with a Ping G20 driver and three wood. I had a fitting recently and my pro said no point in changing them as I would only gain around 5 yards so just not worth it considering I’d recently been fitted for new irons which gave me over 20 yards gain in distances combined with my lesson.
Bring back the golf bidder challenge. Also could you do this for irons as well?
A video like this but for irons would be awesome
Must be a new golfbidder challenge on the way🧐🤔👍⛳️👍
Still using a Callaway X2 Hot.
Love watching Pete play, but I really love club reviews and instruction !!!! This guy is a wealth of golf knowledge !!
Yeah but the constant arm waving gets on my threepennies.
i was thinking the same thing, who ever had that nike b4, strikes the ball so well
Class video. I'm always hanging out for a deal on a G425. Driver is my least favourite club so any forgiveness I can get would be great.
my big bertha fusion driver changed my golf drives so straight ....love it
Great video my driver is tsi3 8deg 😁💣
I don’t actually carry a driver. Could never hit one consistently so ditched carrying one. Have been looking at the taylormade M1 though and learning how to hit it over the winter
I rock the TS4, very low spin rates! I am also a little wild off the tee on my off days! Love/Hate relationship for sure!
Iv got multiple driver but I always go back to my calloway fusion, fairway finder
Callaway GBB Epic, Old but still good. My Irons are from 2020 but my driver is 2018.
I actually picked up a gen 5 pxg driver and it's brilliant. Solid as a rock...for the price you can pick up an 0211 as well it could have made the list for sure.
I bought one too. Figured for the price I couldn’t go wrong. Found it super forgiving and still long.

I've got the f9 but in the limited edition black and white looks naughty
Can't recommend golfbidder enough. I've had 2 clubs off then this season and traded old. Excellent service
Have the Callaway X 460 but launch it too high and get backspin 😮 (only driver I’ve ever had, bought brand new). Wanting the epic speed ls 😅
That was cool. Thanks for the info. And just for fun I own an M-1. Love it. Replaced my TM Burner with it. Getting an extra 15 yards. I put both weights all the way back and went to maximum loft and going straight as hell. Thanks Pete
taylormade m2 2017 is a great choice, customisable loft from 8.5, 10.5 and 12.5, only about £140 on ebay, so solid
I have a Nike vapor driver bought a few years ago when I started playing. I just got back into playing hitting it pretty well now.
Cobra F9 works for me 👏🏻
Amazing video Pete!
I play Callaway XR with Speeder reg shaft but fade /slice got worse , so I put an A Flex 5 wood shaft into it and goodbye fade /slice !!!
I've got a Titleist 915 D3. It's got a slighter smaller head so makes me concentrate more and not try to hit a Bryson. More middle hits , doesn't float up, and looks good. Second hand on ebay for £100 with upgrade shaft. Boom! 😁💣💥
Great content once again young man.👍
I switch off between the SLDR 430 and M1 430, love both.
loved the vid...
My driver is the ping g30. And yeah it fits my game and wallet cuz it was a birthday present
Super videos, and love your swing. I keep rewinding to watch the swing. Thanks. A couple of questions if you dont mind. How far is your tee from the screen, and which screen are you using?
I did like the vid! My driver is suited for my game. I have everything except budget covered!
Still use one in the video, the 2016 taylormade M2. No problems and still goes well for the oldest club in the bag
Taylormade R9 supertri. Still great looking club also forgiving enough on those off center hits.
Was fitted a few years back and have the Ping G410 plus. As a senior golfer using shotscope V3 performance average for 2022 is 235 yards, hitting the fairway almost 50% of the time.
I like combo of forgiveness and bombs (when struck in the center). Therefore, Callaway Rogue ST Max LS 9.5* 65g stiff wins for me.
I have the old rogue draw , love it,
But more forgiveness is always welcome, I'm gonna check out the fusion, I never even knew it existed. Thank you
I am going back and forth right now between a Cobra Speedzone and a Titleist 917D2 - I was struggling with the big stick until I tried a 50g stiff Diamana shaft in the Titleist, started smoking most of my drives once I put in the lighter shaft.
2021 m4 is in my bag and I love it!
You've got some moves Mr Finch good video
Still playing TM M4. Love it.
I'd also throw the Speedzone/xtreme in there from a forgiveness perspective and it was really an upgrade from the f9 with the infinity face and better looking crown. The sole of the f9 was one of the best ever. Can't believe cobra moved away from that look
I am using the Sim 2 driver and it performs amazingly well, but I am looking to upgrade to the Titleist TSI or TSR series.🤔
Good informative review of drivers Peter; loved it.
Also liked the dance moves at 13;43 - is the gym work is helping?
Quite fancy the look of the TM Mini Driver to be honest; may just go get one from GolfBidder
That vapor was my first driver. Still got it. Actually just switched out for an old burner.
Big fan of the original epic driver. What a rocket. Currently playing the Epic LS from last year.
Man oh man I would love to try all of those drivers but I am currently striking a Titleist TS1 and a Callaway Rogue blue. TS1 spends way more time in the bag
