    Can you power on and off with the Smartphone App?

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  5 місяців тому

      Yes, it works with iphones (not sure about Android): first you need to enable Bluetooth wake-up on the camera, and turn on Bluetooth on phone.

      Yes, if you use the GPS remote, it will provide you GPS metadata without having to connect your phone. And of course, you can combine it with the power selfie stick for extra battery time.

    great summary but Is there a way to use the volume button on the side of the phone in place of the red button on the screen. It would be easier to start/stop footage and less cumbersome than looking for the red screen button each time. Thanks

    One important point you have not covered is battery life when the X3 is in standby-mode and connected to a remote control. I've read that using the remote you can even swith the camera "off" and switch it back on: I assume that in this scenario the camera does not really switch completely off, otherwise it would not be able to receive the "on" command from the remote. My questions are: what is the battery life of the X3 in standby mode and in the above-mentioned "partial-off" triggered using the remote?

    Very straightforward explanation. Does the app communicate only by wifi with the camera? If yes does it mean that wifi has to be always turned On on the camera? It must be very battery consuming, isn’t it? Thank you.

    I bought the remote controll because it is said on their website that it can control up to 3 cameras. This got confirmed by Insta360 support at first. So I bought 3 INSTA360 ONE RS cameras just to find out that: Yes, you can connect up to 3 cameras to the remote control. And the remote can shut all 3 cameras off. BUT it can only re-start one of them (the last one which was connected to the remote). So for me that means that this is completely useless, as I need to be able to to controll all 3 cameras including turning them off and on again, which does not work. Which also got confirmed by Insta360 support once I filed a ticket with technical support why 2 of 3 cameras won't wake up... The thing that me annoys the most is that they advertise that up to 3 cameras are supported, but nobody tells you that you can't wake them up...

      I have 1 insta360 ONE RS and am considering buying insta360 x3 and a remote control
      Will both cameras start recording when you press the remote recording button?

    • @TANGORACING
      @TANGORACING Рік тому

      @@MichalJuul I have 2 inst360 one rs and those two did start recording together with the remote control. Not always exactly at the same time though. Sometimes together, sometimes a few seconds apart. Which can also be a bit of pain later on when you want to combine the recordings I guess.. You can also shut both of them off, but only one of them will start via remote control. So if you want to use them over a longer time period and have them switched off and back on via remote - that's not working. I needed that feature and found out the hard way AFTER buying everything.. Since the INSTA-marketing department just mentions you can control up to 3 cameras by remote. But not specifying that you can't turn them back on, after having them switched off.. I also think you have to reconnect all 3 again by hand after you switched them off.

    • @MichalJuul
      @MichalJuul Рік тому

      @@TANGORACING Thanks for your reply
      This is bad info from the insta360 marketing department. It is not okay
      I have been thinking about using another mobile phone only as a remote.
      That way, you can perhaps choose which camera will record. It may not be every time you need to shoot with 2 or 3 cameras.
      Do you have a chance to test this?
      Maybe all of them can be turned on and off from the mobile app?

    • @TANGORACING
      @TANGORACING Рік тому

      @@MichalJuul I agree and that's the reason why I commented on a few remote reviews. I used up to 4 GoPro cameras, but it did not work reliable and had several other issues, which is why I considered changeing to Insta360s. But I need to be able to control - which for me does include shutting them off and on via a remote control. Therefore I asked Insta beforehand if I can do that and pre-sales support confirmed I can controll up to 3 camers, which would have been fine for me.
      I bought 2 and the remote just to find out it does not work. And technical support confirmed that you can only turn back on the last one connected.
      Using an app won't help me personally, but I also did not see the possibility to do that via the app.

      @TheJWC56RSA Рік тому

      Even more useless is that it can only supply GPS stats if ONE camera is paired. The moment you pair two or more cameras you do not get the GPS data.

    I find it strange that Insta360 don't mention compatibility between the GPS Action Remote and the Insta360 RS 1 inch edition. The RS is mentioned, and the core is the same in the 1 inch edition, so it shold work just fine. But on other accesories they mention if it works with the 1 inch edition or not (as an example they don't reccomend the 3 meter selfistick for the 1 inch edition as it is heavier than the X3).

    • @TheFreeloaderFreddy
      @TheFreeloaderFreddy Рік тому

      I can confirm it works with the RS 1 inch edition, but there have been some firmware issues that cause it to need to be re-paired frequently. You can also use the GPS Action remote to control more than one device simultaneously. Their website says 4, support says 3. You may have to take some extra steps to extract the GPS data from the INSP as it seems to get removed on conversion to JPEG (at least the last time I tried with the desktop studio application).

    One point you did not expand on - As you stated from the remote one can only select 4 of the 9 camera shooting modes. If one wants to use the remote for the other 5 modes simply connect the remote to the camera and from the camera cycle thru all shooting modes while looking at the remote screen. As each mode is selected from the camera - The remote automatically changed displaying the current camera shooting mode. It’s that simple .. .. 😊

      Hi,
      Usually I shoot with a cropped camera body, because in such cases I can’t take any of the advantages of full frame, and I work with a Samyang fisheye lens. It’s recommended to pick an 8mm fisheye on cropped body or 12mm on full frame.
      Besides I shoot with an L bracket to hold the camera, called SV360, which is an european product, but of course, you can find many other similar product a on the market.
      By the way, now I’m testing a brand new pano head which can controlled by a smartphone app. I will come up with the review in a couple of weeks. It’s another great option if you don’t want to shoot totally manually.
