Thank you so much. I have two other kinds but this is my first One Leaf.
Great review, thanks for th time and effort. I love the Krait, I have one (UK, Sub 12) and a Katran with a Zulus on.
thanks for watching and also appreciating the immense effort that went into producing a 38 minute review! I know it was a long one, but if people are spending this kind of money on an optic I figure they should know exactly what they are getting. Cheers, king!
I HAVE GOTTEN OLDER, no longer "getting", but it beats the alternative. I considered the Krait but am sticking to my Panthera Hunter Compacts due to better product support, modularity, reliability, accuracy.
Good review. Nice set up. yeah that was a big buck.
Thanks for watching, king!
@@airshootist i’ve been thinking of getting a Krait. What caliber do you have and what ammo are you shooting? I have 3 Katran’s now and I love them.
Great video, as always! What is your opinion regarding how the NV500 compares to the DNT Zulus. I’m trying to decide which one to get. Thanks!!
Thanks for the nice comment, king! They are both dope optics. The Zulus has the win on smaller form factor and being lighter, but the NV500 has a way more powerful (but external and bigger) IR and a much larger objective lens for what I would consider a better image quality. Also the NV500 can have all the ballistic data entered into it by hand rather than using an app like the Zulus, which is majorly beneficial in the field especially if you have no phone with you or you ran out of batteries.
You really can't go wrong with either optic, but you will save some $$ if you use my coupon code (in comments/description) on the NV500 over the Zulus.
If you do decide to get the Zulus, and you appreciate my efforts here - here is an affiliate link for that from HPP which helps the channel: myhighpressureair.com/dnt-zulus-hd-digital-night-vision-with-laser-rangefinder/?aff=2
Additionally, I have an NV400 for sale for $500 shipped (like new, the one I reviewed) so if you wanna save some dough you could snag that off me by emailing me at airshootist@gmail.com.
Hope this helps!
I have a personal opinion on and have both as well and the ThermNight but PM me for details if you want some.
The nv500 has auto ballistic calculator moving the point of aim when you move your gun? Vs zulus which you have to press the range finder button a 2nd time to lock aim point?
@@ychongy you still have to press the button to lock it down
@@airshootistyou convinced me to sell the zulus for a loss and get the nv500 for the better features. Wondering if theres anti fog coating on the lenses?
Pretty awesome new product!
I fully agree!
Great video what is the max distance between the 1.5X and the 2.5X versus the 2X and the 4X lenses?
The higher magnification lenses just increase the zoom level in tandem with the digital zoon
Is the field of view bigger and better vs zulus. What about when you look into the scope. Does it feel like it gives you a bigger picture vs zulus?
they are about the same, however the IR on the Oneleaf is way better. I do think the NV500 screen is a bit bigger
@airshootist thanks I have the 5-20x zulus but the 2-26x nv500 seems like a better zoomable range? 2x seems like the field of view would definitely be better for close up? Tempting to get the nv500. Also are we able to move the rangefinder to the right side?
Did that really long clicky zoom wheel annoy you on the nv500 vs the zulus? Hopefully they fix the speed on the zoom somehow.
theres a certain cadence to it where it works the best, but yes it is a bit annoying
@@airshootist looks like theres a new firmware to hopefully fix the zoom
@@ychongy Thanks, king! Just downloaded it and it seems much better!
Хорошее видео. Благодарю за работу
👍Maybe a bit heavy but the recordings you made look good. Did you try record 4k120hz at night?
Nah. They told me to use 4k30 at night and honestly my PC sucks at processing 120fps video. I really need to get a better system. I literally film everything on a cell phone and use a 2017 PC for editing. Gotta use what I got, I guess. If enough people use my Amazon links to generate some commissions for me I may eventually get a higher power computer and some good cameras - but this is what I have for now and I make it work reasonably well.
@@airshootist I know the feeling i'm still using a 6700k does what's needed with a little OC🌶
Counter intuitive.
Even if the IMX678 sensor are light sensitive, it still need to be able to drop to slow exposure timings, lower than 1:120 second, hence why oneleaf correctly recommend 30 fps as that allow for 1:30 second exposures.
120 fps is solely a daytime feature.
12 / 24 core CPU / 48 GB RAM as 16 of them died, but yes old CPU so it suffer too, what you really want is software that is able to also use the GFX card, programs like my powerdirector and pinnacle only use the CPU, doing the same with the same footage in say Resolve that also use GFX card,,,,,,,, much faster.
Insta 360 studio software also use both, i have " just " gotten the insta 360 ACE Pro camera
Me planning to get new computer, this one is 4-5 years old by now, so today a 8/16 core CPU will be much faster, also this PC idle at windows desktop at 170 - 180 watts
No need to do 120 fps for youtube unless you use it for slow motion, but for a review of a product, 30 fps will be just fine, dont even have to be 4K, CUZ when it come to pure image quality you need to look at original footage and not something youtube have compressed one more time most often.
So reviewing cameras, really you should make raw unaltered footage available ford download.
I want to know how it compares to the pard nightstalker 4k. Thats the top of the tier in the market right now and this seems to have lower resolution
I'd like to know, too. They didn't want to work with me on a review so they will probably not be part of my AYAOTD series
Question ? have you set your gun or rifle on one shot zero ? Because the reticle cross hair site will drop down below.
One shot zero is how you zero the rifle. What you are referring to seems to be the holdover mark after you range a target. With an airgun, especially if shooting pellets, that holdover can be pretty far down in the screen due to the large drop a pellet has. You will have to zoom out to shoot further targets in order to be able to see the holdover. This is 100% normal and due to physics.
Hi, I have a question to ask ? I have the same nv 500 scope. When I do the one shot zero my cross hair site dropped down and not on center aim. by the way, I would like to know how far the distance you do the one shot zero ?
That is normal. Are you using it on an airgun? Barrel droop and the loopy trajectory of pellets is the reason. If you're using on an airgun a 25 yard zero is fine. You could get a canted rail if you wanna bring that crosshairs up. 20MOA oughta do the trick.
Well, I try all that and also tilting the scope too .also, I contact the one leaf company. And they say that doesn’t affect your accuracy, but we do have a firmware update on March year of 2025. They told me is the company’s error. and enjoyed the scope and wait for the update sorry, mate. that’s f**king unacceptable
@@badboytommy187 that its weird. To me one shot zero is pointless until you shim or get your shot close with the cross hair centered. That way you only do tiny aduustments after and your cross hair would be more centered
Yeah, it doesn’t affect my accuracy, but it does affect my range 150 to 175 yards shooting . because my rangefinder drop so low I can’t even get a shot 😬
@badboytommy187 yea I hear you. Either get an adjustable moa mount which is pricy. Or shim it with thin metal pieces. Im going to try to shim the range finder to get it more into the center with the cross hair too. All they had to do was make the scope mounts adjustable and the range finder adjustable. It would solve a bunch of issues and make the range finder/ballistic calculator a super cool unit. But even then I think the lrf needs to be able to shrink and grow along with the cross hair when zooming in and out at different ranges with first focal plane to really work well.
Your video reviews are perfect. Never too fast, just the right amount of detail and no unnecessary jawboning. If someone reading my comment is not yet subscribed, do yourself a favor and subscribe and like.
I purchased the NV400 Eagle a few months ago. The scope itself is great but the weight ? How does this compare weight wise ?
It's about a half pound lighter
I really like that scope. Great user interface and great clear image BUT it's heavy and I'm done with clip on illuminators. Due respect to you and OneLeaf, I personally believe another brand that I favor and will be respectful and not mention the name, is superior to NV500 in all aspects.
Which one is that?
THat is insane oneleaf is maybe the new atn
And about 300-400 bucks cheaper. I haven't tested the X Sight 5 but I should see about getting one for AYAOTD part 5! Thanks for the idea!
@@airshootist Yea they have some quality stuff I have their nv100 and I am very impressed with it the rats arnt lol!
Hi, do you know if there are any quick release compatible mounting solution that could work with the NV500?
You could use one of these bad boys: amzn.to/4fMdTw9
Mount it ontop of a quick picatinny removable mount? It does raise scope higher
How much does that exact scope cost i want one buddy.
Fully optioned these are $708 but I have a 10% coupon for ya. Here are the details:

Do you prefer this or the thermnight?
Well, it isn't really that comparable since the ThermNight has thermal, which is a major enhancement. I do, however, prefer this NV500 to the Oneleaf NV400 just since it weighs a half pound less and is more compact. Both great scopes. I will add that the DNT Thermnight is my absolute favorite of all the scopes reviewed in the Are You Afraid Of The Dark series - simply because it has both thermal and night vision, which none of the other scopes offer. I am trying to get some additional scopes to review so I can help folks who are in the market for something like this and are exploring their options. Stay tuned!
Another great review!
@@airshootist I agree on ThermNight (I'm a dealer). I also use it ever day and night.
😊😊😊😊😊
I’m slightly curious what it will look like with the optional highest power lens. I have the nv400 and don’t like it at all during the day. I don’t know I guess digital just isn’t for me. It’s all fine and dandy in these UA-cam reviews out in the open with consistent lighting. Take them out in the woods with uneven lighting, shadows etc. Then they are like a digital camera that is always slightly out of adjustment and they produce a shitty look a lot. However I am in the minority as many love them. To each their own but I think digital sucks ass for daytime use. You can get really really clear glass for 700 bucks.
I've also noticed that sometimes the digi is a little hard to see in the shadows of a dimly lit forest in daytime but as far as the NV400 I have taken TONS of squirrels with that thing in all conditions. I think it is a matter of getting used to the scope and getting the settings good for your particular environment. In any case these Oneleaf scopes are definitely purposed for shooting at night, and at that they do phenomenally well!
@@airshootistWithout a doubt. The thing actually surprised me in the total darkness how well it worked. I am holding on to it just for night purposes. I just think if someone is buying one of these specifically for daytime recording the money can be much better spent on awesome regular glass.
100% agree!
There is a setting for auto, center or multiple light sensing spots to control the image brightness. Also your shutter contrast and brightness settings. It takes some patience to get it setup right. It should be a lot more simple like pard.
I had to help a reviewer with some advice on issues with the image on these
Does the sony starvis 2 sensor in the nv500 eagle help improve this at all?
