You've made a clearly-spoken and complete presentation and I thank you. I would've like to see a list of the products you displayed, with apx prices maybe. Evenso great video. Well I did find you links so good Tom.
Hi Tom, I purchased the Magnifica Start with latte crema system after watching your videos and so far I love it! I’ve only been using it for a week and it’s been great for someone who likes cappuccinos and doesn’t want to do the frothing myself. It took a little while to set up and read the long manual but it was worth it. I’m a big fan of Delonghi now. Very beginner friendly.
Thanks to your videos, I purchased the Delonghi 3630 and added a bottomless portafilter. It took some fine tuning of grind and weight of grounds, but I am very happy with how well it works. Tom, your videos are very helpful
Love your videos. I wanted to go the semi-automatic way. I invested in a really good grinder a while ago (Timemore 64S) I’ve been researching espresso machines forever…. But your Turin legato review helped me tremendously. I love how you review and present! I have the MiiCoffee V2 (basically same as the Turin) and love it.
Thanks to your channel, I bought a delonghi dedica Arte pluss grinder and bottomless portafilter and scale. Now I can't understand why I would need anything else, not to mention something 10-20 times more expencive. It makes great espresso, cafe crema and milk-drinks that are as good as any coffeeshop, though the latte art is not up to standard 😂. Thanks!
I´ve used ECP and Dedica in the past, using Barista Pro now. Few observations: 1) Dedica is a very good machine for this money, but it will be not perfect without a good grinder and some accessories (filter, tamper), maybe other portafilter. With all this the price it will arrive close to the price of a Barista. 2) With home use you will prepare usually 1-2 cups few times a day. So you need energy efficiency for this operation, prepare quickly a good drink, another after few hours. You will appreciate coffee machine that is ready to work in few seconds (Barista) or in a minute (Dedica), not a boiler machine with 20-30 minutes heating time and high electricity consumption. 3) Automatic: perfect, if you are drinking instant coffee and the coffee is not important for you. If you really like good espresso, it is not the best solution.
Hi Tom. Great video that answers tons of my questions. BTW, I just went through some Xmas offers for superautos and there is a new (I guess) option for Magnifica called Magnifica Start without the automated milk pitcher. It has a wand.. or some type of semi-automatic wand like the Dedica has. It's over 250 euros cheaper!
Hi Tom, I am using now an hand grinder and a percolator to get my coffee, but it takes some time to manual grind your beans and the consistency is bad. I was thinking to buy a grinder and an espresso machine, but we never drink espresso, but i like the cappuchino very much. The grinder and an espresso machine is expensive and problem is that it takes some time to dial in and i don't want to do that in the morning. So a full automatic is best for me. But i got some doubts of having a steam wand or an milt tank. Delonghi is offering them boths. A steam wand is better for cappuchino and a tank is just easier. My wife also drinks coffee and if my parents will join us, they also drink coffee. Other thing is that i just want a quick drink if my day starts and i need to go to work.
Which bottomless portafilter do you recommend for use with the Dedica Maestro Plus? How about a whisk to de clump the grinds before tamping? How about a good funnel for the portafilter? I’m using a Breville grinder but my wife is doing manually with her decaf ground coffee. Thank you for all your great vids. Very helpful in our new journey.
I went with the Dolonghi Dinamica Plus and it’s so great! I get consistent shots that have more crema and the taste Is so much better than my manual espresso machine. Probably could have something to do with my skill level but still
Hi Tom what size IMS basket is the best size to use for lots of Crema? H24? Or H26? Thanks 🙏 I just bought the normcore bottomless but now I’m looking for an IMS basket to put in it for better results according to your video but I just don’t know what size is the best to get the most Crema but using less coffee if possible? So I’m thinking maybe the size H24??

I started on the older model Dedica and even bought a 2nd one because the first one was giving me trouble with the portafilter popping off during extraction and other issues. The 2nd one did the same no matter what i did. I have to hold the portafilter to stop it popping off. I wouldn't recommend if you want to start off.
Hello Tom, I would like to thank you by my heart with great honesty firstly. I had been looking for a budget Espresso machine for a while and I decided to get a Delonghi Dedica 885 thanks to your very informative and good guides. Since I love preparing milk-drinks, your videos have been extremely helpful to me to decide which machine to buy. I have also developed a good coffee knowledge from your recommendations. My first few experience with 885 had been underwhelming, because I didn't know how to purge the water and when I watched your video again, purging water for Dedica takes a little longer than most other people do, no I can enjoy with my machine. Second, I'd like to ask is that you suggested us to use hard water for water hardness. Would you suggest it to anyone? We are using filtered drinkwater that's being sold in carboys. Thank you for everything. Whenever I need to learn something about coffee & Dedica, I always check you at first.
can you make this a series for every part of espresso tools like grindrs portafilters baskets...etc it would be great reference to new espresso tools last few years
Hey, Tom. Took your advice and I’ve been enjoying my ecp 3630 a lot- but…. The incessant dripping after pulling a shot and while steaming is kind of annoying. Saw a video on YT in which the guy said the fix was to stretch the pressure spring to reduce the dripping. I was wondering if you’ve tried that? I haven’t opened my machine, yet, so would rather you do it first!!😂 Was also curious about the boiler cool down (which is not mentioned in the manual). If you let some time elapse, and switch back to on vs steam, will it cool itself down or do you still need to purge water from the wand? I generally blast some steam out after finishing the milk, but rarely run water. Is it necessary even if you’re not pulling another shot?
I do think you should refill the boiler after steaming, because the water level will have become less. As for the spring, I haven't tried that yet. I don't like pulling springs out of shape generally, but that might be the only option here, since it's an unusual tapered spring. Cheers!
I had a delonghi ecp35.31 with a bottomless and a tamper, and a standalone Lelit Fred grinder. Delonghi ecp is a real nice cheap machine that definitely could make tasty espresso, but i have changed it for a Gaggia Classic which technically isnt so different, it has a bigger boiler and 58mm group, but the espresso taste is even better. and i love that machine. Also replaced its stock opv spring for 9 bar.
I have a question: I have an old Saeco Via Venezia, manual machine with a boiler. I love it. But the steam is irregular. It starts being really strong, then it is noticeibly weaker and then it starts getting strongger again. As if the sensor starts refilling the boiler a little bit too late. Do the newer single boiler machines have this issue? I am sure the expensive ones don't, but the cheap ones such as the delonghi?
Hi! I don't think it has a sensor to refill. It only fills while you press the button to engage the pump. So, while you're steaming, the water level is going down, as the steam is exhausted. Also, it uses thermostats to control the temperature, so it has to go under a certain threshold to start heating again. It's a little annoying, I know.
Hi tom, thanks to your channel i know have a delonghi dedica i love it! But the milksteamer doesnt make the milk fluffy, what can i do? (Sorry bad at english, im from denmark) 😅
Just getting into coffee machines. You say the intensity of 5 on the the auto but bean grind was 3.5. Is the finer bean not the more caffeinated? How are they different?
Intensity of 5 grinds longer, resulting in a larger dose. Grinding at 3.5 is fine enough to provide some pressure to the incoming water. It's what makes the crema. Cheers!
As very competent comparison Tom, as usual. Nevertheless I´m quite upset with my Dedica 685M since it started to loose the memorized Extraction time (28 seconds in my case) only after 3.5 months of use ! I got a replacement and even the second one seems to have the same problem. This is driving me nuts. Some coffees do last 10 seconds while others do last even 50 seconds and then I have to stop it manually.....I really don´t understand what´s going on with the Dedica 😤

Then pull the shot on about a 1:10 ratio and you're good to go! ^^ Also don't fret on the quick flow, that is just how it is. They are really tasting like I know the Cafè Crème from the Delonghi Magnifica S, texture-wise. But they are way better on the taste because they are balanced. I don't need milk for the ones from my Rancilio Silvia! ^^
Tom, I remember you doing a video about installing a Silvia steam wand on the De'Longhi models. Would the no-burn steam wands that they sell, compatible with the Siliva Pro-X, be able to be installed on something like the ECP? (It costs 10$ more than what I paid for my ECP but that is beside the point, lol.)

I´ve purchased this machine 1 month ago and I´m really happy, the perfect coffee. It was necessary to find the right dial setting, time setting, tamping during the first week, after this the process is easy, the same result with same steps. I´m not sure about a good coffee from automatic. I prefer to spend few minutes and have the perfect drink all the time.
If you want to remove all variables, not do anything, and don't care too much about the final product, pods are also an option (non-official machine so it can also take non-official pods). I don't think expensive coffee is worth it for a bean to cup.
Well, Delonghi just came out with their Opera that looks promising: amzn.to/3Pjw29j Otherwise, the E24 brass boiler version of the GCP is available. I don't think Breville will be dropping anything. The Oracle Jet was their long awaited product. Cheers!
I’m looking to buy a black BES920, but it’s out of stock everywhere in Hungary. I’ve checked several online shops in Germany, and there are some good offers, around €1080. Do you have any suggestions on where else I could look, or does Idealo already cover all the best deals?
I originally wanted to get the black truffle finish of the dual boiler but couldn't find any apart from 1 on eBay and it needed a new water tank and needed the pumps replacing so I went with a refurbished stainless one
You could get it directly from Sage Germany. Send me an email, and I can give you a code for 15% off, bringing it to 1061, just so long as they ship to Hungary. Cheers!
She just loves the integrated tamper of the Express Impress, and the steam wand is arguably better on it over the Ninja, too. Bang for buck though, Ninja is better.
Yeah, and it's not like we couldn't get scales for cheap nowadays. I'm pretty sure manufacturers can repurpose those to fit into the drip trays of their machines.
I had a Jura but after many years it broke down, during repair I got a manual Gagia. But finally the Jura is beyond repair. So, now looking for a new automatic. Where I live Jura actually is not really an option. So looking at Delonghi. Probably going for the cheapest one as I only drink espresso and americano and I understood internally all for this coffee are more or less the same. Might buy an external Milk Frother steamer for some occasions.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I do take it all to a different level though 😁. I am growing my coffee and roasting it as well. We have about 30 coffee bushes and I have a manual roasting machine. I am living in the mountains in Chiang mai
The no1 necessity for the espresso is descent grinder and no2 is 9 bar machine with unpressurized portafilter. A good start would be used equipment for a total budget of 200-300 euros.
Hey Tom, Do you know if there’s any plastic in the steam wand from the 885 Arte? if it is all stainless steel inside so the hot water goes through only the stainless steel in the steam wand, then I will buy the Arte 885 tomorrow. Because I currently am using the 680 model dedica. And I don’t like the plastic steam wand. ( I would change the steam wand but looks too complicated for me. Rather just buy the 885 Arte instead. But only if the hot water in steam wand does not have any contact with plastic. Cause I already have that unfortunately on my 680 model. Thanks 🙏☺️
I thought about it, but I didn't have one to display. I really don't like heat exchangers for their super long warm up time (due to them being attached to E61 brew groups). Cheers!

Where I live Jura actually is not really an option. So looking at Delonghi. Probably going for the cheapest one as I only drink espresso and americano and I understood internally all for this coffee are more or less the same. Might buy an external Milk Frother steamer for some occasions.
That's often how I do it, in particular for a coffee crema. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I do take it all to a different level though 😁. I am growing my coffee and roasting it as well. We have about 30 coffee bushes and I have a manual roasting machine. I am living in the mountains in Chiang mai
I love Robusta.
My blend has 80% Robusta and 20% Arabica..
That'll make a strongly caffeinated drink with lots of crema!
Thanks 🙏☺️
Superauto for me. I'm not looking to marry the machine 😅 First thing in the am I can't even tell you my name until I've had my first ☕
Fair enough!
@TomsCoffeeCorner 😅 I do admire those who take the time to master the craft itself and maybeeeee one day.
Did not mention heat exchanger
The video is for beginners, i would guess a heat exchanger gets in the same category as a dual boiler: too expensive
I thought about it, but I didn't have one to display. I really don't like heat exchangers for their super long warm up time (due to them being attached to E61 brew groups). Cheers!
@ so you don’t like E61 brew groups in general?
Had a Nespresso ad pop up while viewing this video.
EWWWW! 🤮
LOL - I don't see any real and good Espresso Machine....
So just have fun with that garbage!
Why? Because they don't use an E61 brew group?
Aww look at the cute little gatekeeper who makes it their whole personality
