The Lelit Elizabeth (PL92T) is a solid contender. Dual boiler, warm in 15 minutes, PID temperature control, good steam, automated backflush cycle, and a lesser known feature is its smart preinfusion: pressure from the steam boiler can push water from the brew boiler for a "soft" preinfusion phase. On the inside, it's well made and highly serviceable, with a great many parts available for repairs. I've had one for over two years (after using a Gaggia Classic with PID for a year), very happy with it.
Thanks again Ryde for your review. I can’t wait for the full review on the Profitec Move. Although the pricing could be better in Australia, if it’s everything they claim it to be, it’ll go on my shortlist for mid-2025. Have a Merry Christmas whether you celebrate it or not 😊 and a safe 2025.
Nice Video Ryde! I did a lot of research this year for our first Espresso Machine. I had a lot of machines in your list on my list - I did end up with the Zurgiga E2-S generation 2.
What the hell is going on with the aussie prices???? The conversion rate between USD and AUD is no where near double yet the australian price always seems to be double the US one? I'm getting so sick of the aussie tax on everything..
Same in Canada. Ryde's #1 choice Profitec Go is CAD $3400...before tax, which at 13% adds another $442, so someone finding an ECM for $2000 (USD?) sounds like quite the bargain. However I am just a lowly individual coffee snob 55 years' experience with many machines and know nothing about buying, importing, selling and servicing top quality espresso machines into my country. Even if I won the lottery I would not 'open shop'. An order for a Speedster would go in and call it a day.
Start of with love your videos. Just a thought when I go touring on my bike I tried buying coffee which can be a challenge due to many of the remote locations. I bought a 9Barista but it takes up a lot of space and that is limited on the bike. So in regards to Coffee Machines for 2025 I bought a WACACO Cuppamoka. Very simple but makes a great coffee without the bulk. So for me this is a coffee machine less than a $100. Maybe a video on simple to travel with coffee concepts. Thanks and keep up the great coffee message
It was between the Lelit Mara X and the ECM Mechanika Max for me. I ended up going with the ECM because it has everything the Mara X has and more. I couldn't say no to the build quality and also the rotary pump. It was also on sale for $2,000, so I thought it was a bargain for only $300 more than the Mara X.
Seeing the Profitec Move, I like that the new machines are all going for the La Marzocco look. I am not sure I will ever buy a La Marzocco especially because 95% of the cafes in Singapore boast one. Right now, I am willing pay a good $5-$10 for a commercial cup. So, I am happy to get the same aesthetics for much less at home. 😅 Gonna wait for 2025; take my time. I believe the coffee scene is still growing - manufacturers are still looking for ways to capture market. I am actually still hemming over Lelit Victoria because apartments are tiny in Singapore… Victoria seems to be that one pro machine that competes in physical size with Dedica and Bambino. There is Gaggia Evo but Gaggia is too retro in aesthetics. Haha. Sometimes the decision is very much based on what fits and not how much money it costs. And the rest? I feel we can always adapt our routines accordingly.
Definitly look forward to your content man. Compared to other channels really think you keep things simple and entertaining. No bull! 👌👌. Now that you’ve used the new smeg, how do you think it puts up against the profitec go? Which one should I pick?
I am kinda shocked you did not mention any Quick Mill machines. They have been around 75 years and are just as well built as profitec, rocket and ECM machines.
Thank you ! The Profitec go looks great but I'm wondering if you think it's superior to the Breville Dual boiler in any way at all (a part size and arguably looks) ? A couple of years ago you made a review where you seemed to think, if I didn't get you wrong, that particular Breville was as un unbeatable machine - unless someone wants to pay much, much more. And it's still so much quicker to warm up than all the nice single boilers out there (even just for espresso)...
Yes I still think the Breville dual boiler is fantastic but a couple of things have soured my taste: - It's become expensive. It used to be $750aud and was great value. Now it's $1200 - $1500. And I've heard in countries outside of Australia that it's more expensive than other options. - It's not as reliable long term as some of the other machines (Profitec, Lelit, etc). So, the long and the short. The Breville is still an excellent machine and makes superb coffee easily and makes multiple coffees simultaneously. But there are newer machines available now that are worth looking at. 👌🙌
Hey Ryde Nice video! I’m looking to purchase my first coffee machine soon and was considering buying the Breville Barista Touch. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on it? If not preferred any other recommendations up to around $1800aud would help 😊 Cheers
For me its clearly the Meticulous Espresso Machine because that is what i think its the best modern machine for a private household. No descaling, backflushing, no water tank cleaning, no noise, low profile and low weight, nice design and energy is super expensive here in europe and it will get more and more in the future, so the typical E61 machines are useless in the future thanks to the climate politics and greenflation. For Gastro use those boiler machines are nice but for the private household not so much. As an alternative i would get the Ascaso steel series or any other machine with thermo block.
Yep fully agree. I have ordered my meticulous for the reasons you suggest. Boiling 2 l of water just to make one or two espressos is ridiculous. This type of innovation is 20 years overdue. It's been such a lazy industry. It was obvious as soon as they started publicising this that this is a type of machine that will make sense for home users in the future
@@tobefree3718 yes sorry, i forgot actually the most important part, the time a typical E61 needs to warm up like you mentioned. I also think its nice that there are no silicon tubes, copper tubes or whatever, so its really hygienic. But like a mentioned, a modern thermo block machine would be ok as well, i think the future are thermo block machines without steam function because now you have great milk foaming devices like the Dreo BaristaMaker, i am very pleased with mine. Makes better latte art foam than my E61 machine and that every single time. So again, why you need the steam when you have such devices, it even produces better latte art because you dont have condensation water in the milk like in a normal steam progress.
Yes I see your argument and I do agree with most of it. It's a little worrying that it's taken so much longer to get to market (and still isn't there) however I hope it's just that they are being super fastidious about the quality and not that technology is outpacing their development. It's the risk with anything hugely innovative like this.
Hey mate, are you aware of a Korean company called El Rocio and their machine called the "Manus S?" If so, would love to know your thoughts on it and get an honest review. There isn't a lot of info on it online as it's still quite an unknown but would love to hear from a professional about it.
Erm...what is all that crud under the lever handle and spigot of the White Mara X at 14.16 ? AND when I look further it is also on the both wand joints. Is that.... rust maybe ? Also. The Profitec Go. What is it with their very odd colour ways on release ? eeek. But at least now they have a brushed SS option to go with the black (the only real choice imho at release) But still no white option I see [head in hands]
Nice vid!! I’m tossing up between the ECM Classika PID and the Mara X. They’re essentially the same price where I am. What’s your take on the two compared?
Actually yes a great machine too. Feature packed and not super expensive for a dual boiler. I'm personally not a fan of the separate water reservoir but most people love that. 🎉
I have the Silvia pro X (2,5yrs). Great machine but I don’t understand why the bolt in the back is almost unreachable, the pop rivets of the back label rust as well of the clips that keep the top plate fixed also rust. And again rust on the steam boiler (the connection points of the heating element). The tiewrap on the OPV has been deteriorated. The three hoses in the water tank doesn’t feel designed well. The drip tray is of a terrible design.
Wow! I wonder if that's an anomaly as I haven't heard of that much rust happening. Are you near a beach somewhere or anything? I'll have to look into that as that is definitely disappointing. Thanks for letting me know!
Hey Andy! There's a few ways you can go depending on how invested in your coffee extractions you are (or will become!). The flair 58 electric is amazing for long blacks but it's not automatic. Still, I just love making coffee on it. If you just want a simple but easy way of making espresso, I really like the Profitec Go. Another option is the ROK or the Cafelat robot. Similar to the flair but perfect for espresso only drinkers. 👌
there are more options beside milk to have that milky drink. do some research. the automatic vendor machines where I work have some sort of powder that does not have lactose in it and you cant really notice it.
@@irishful1 Yeah.. I've tried lactose-free products... its not just the lactose that does it to me sadly..., and honestly.. I really enjoy my long blacks :)
Unfortunately, as controversial as it is, no human should be drinking milk. We're the only species who drinks another species milk. Milk from cows is intended for the calf TO fatten them up. The dairy industry programmed the masses into believing it was "normal" for us to drink milk and that it was actually "healthy" (all for profit)). It is not. It is just the opposite. I have a Profitec pr0 400 and its so good brews great and steams like a champ.Doesnt require much maintenance.I use a Tampoo plug to turn it on inn the mornning.2500 Aud it a steal.I wont be buyingvthe new move
If they're the same I would choose maraX, but the differences are: Profitec Go can't do milk and coffee simultaneously, maraX can. Profitec has a much quicker heat up time and you can't accidentally burn yourself on the group head ☺️ so you have to weigh up what is important to you. 🤗
Solid selection! I've got my Mara X with flow control back in April and it's just superb. The only thing missing from this list is the Ascaso Steel Duo.
Easy but not good quality results and they aren't going to last you very long like these machines will. If I was recommending a Breville I only suggest Bambino for cheap and Dual Boiler for quality results (but both are poor quality builds).
Nice! Can't wait for the end game machines video. ☕
Two months in with a new ECM Puristika with flow control and absolutely love this machine.
Now we're talking. A Puristiska with flow control is the way!

Australia Tax has always been a thing. This is why grey imports are popular here.

SUPER review Ryde; great job. My ask would be your thoughts on the Izzo Alex, HX and Duetto models. Thx!
Love my ECM Technica Profi IV PID…have it plumbed and use the Tapo on my phone to program on off times…couldn’t ask for more.

Hi Ryde, what are your thoughts on the Ascaso Steel Duo PID? $2900 AUD packs a lot of features for the price.
Yes very decent machine. Ascaso did have some quality issues lately but I think they've been fixed.
I am kinda shocked you did not mention any Quick Mill machines. They have been around 75 years and are just as well built as profitec, rocket and ECM machines.
great video as always mate but where are the lever machines :) merry christmas
Yeh I know! 😓 I always struggle with adding in lever machines because they almost need their own video. I'll do one shortly. 👌
What is your view on the Eureka Pura & Contanza. They same very similar machine to the ones you have reviewed?
Please try the manus s from the el rocio seems like a great machine and a great price
Great video, really nice presentation, but what about same with comparable Chinese machines? Like Gemilai and other...
Yeh, I'm getting my hands on the new Gemilai machine so I probably can do a comparison in the future! 🙌

Nah, you just need a solid machine. 🙌👌
You don't "need" it but you will get better espresso, which will make a better latte. This is especially true if you want a bit of a longer shot.
