10 minute FREE online lesson that opens up CRAZY HOURS of melodic riffing ideas ... Thank you bro, this video has made a huge difference to my playing .... Big thanks!!!
Yo D, the tone on that bass is incredible. If I close my eyes, I could swear you are playing a fretless! Of all the youtube vids I have seen, yours are the most impacting! I'm an OG Bassist from 1968. I put it down in 85 to go into Personal & Tour Management. You are giving me tools to reignite my first love!
Very gratifying videos ! I still learn and progress at 63. Yea because of your tips and exercices. I'd appreciate someting concerning fluidity melodics.
Excellent lesson man!!! Thank for these vids. I've been playing for 30 years and never had a lesson. Now at 54 I've decided to take my playing to another level. (Find out what it is that I'm actually doing) Lol. Thank you very much for this
Thanks for the lessons that you post. I’m classically trained but that was a long time ago. I play by ear very well and because of that I’ve gotten very lazy with my music theory. Your videos have been an inspiration!
The way i did it yesterday is in circle of 6th in all keys with modes for it sounded fantastic . example C major C A F D B G E , then from E i went to the 3rd mode the phyrgian . It sounded pretty cool .
Great lesson Deric will be on this later....been playing on and off for years and always avoided scale and model exercises but find it quite interesting now especially trying to play melodic stuff....thanks for the lesson only just discovered your site
I pick a couple different topics every day to work on. ie.. Timing, Speed, Modes, Scales, Slaping, Double Thumb.... This covers a lot of focus groups in a single week. Should I be focusing on couple topics and sticking with them for a week or is it okay to bounce around like I do?
Hi Daric Eeverything you play is so groovy an fuill of soul. Thanks a lot for the sharing of such a talent and great work achievment what kind of effect do you use to record, a kind of compressor with chorus ? cheers
Hey Daric, just a question.. Is that a Squirer Jaguar Bass with the Agathis body.. How do like it? It sounds great.. GC has for $250, thinking about picking one up.. Tks W. Charles
Hey Matt, he's using the major and minor thirds according to the scale degrees. F is the minor third of D. The scale degrees of the major scale are: maj, min, min, maj, maj, min (natural minor), dim. The third degree (note) of the C major scale scale is E, so the minor third would be G. Hope that helps.
Your playing in the beginning was so tasty and soulful that I almost cried
+Deathptbr wow thanks so much! Thanks for watching

Lindo lindo lindo! Curti de mais!!!
How can I get bass lesson
Hey Deric! So I have a question for you. Since the major 3rd of C in the key of C major is E, why is F the major 3rd of D?
Hey Matt, he's using the major and minor thirds according to the scale degrees. F is the minor third of D. The scale degrees of the major scale are: maj, min, min, maj, maj, min (natural minor), dim. The third degree (note) of the C major scale scale is E, so the minor third would be G. Hope that helps.
I think Deric meant to say "diatonic thirds" instead of "major thirds." "Diatonic thirds" means playing third intervals staying within the scale.
trhank you buddy
I like ! ♥
Can someone help me with what the scales this player is playing Matt Ramsey
C major
sou seu fã mano queria uma video aula sua
🔥🔥🔥
This is new to me
🙌🏾
Ho ! I forgot ...... from Rivière-du-Loup, Québec. Solong ....
So these are diatonic 3rds and 6ths in the key of C major?
amaroudis Yes they are 👍🏾
Wawwwww like!!
There was no video--black screen--first 46 seconds of vid. That made it pretty cool intro. Then you discover it was not made that way.
I hope I'm not the first to say this bit the 3rd of D is F#, but it seems like you're saying F natural...IJA
In the key of C major, D’s 3rd is F (it’s just a MINOR 3rd). The key of C major doesn’t not contain F#.
