Good tribute guys. Having cancer has taught me to live life while you have it. I'm in the process of looking at a small 25ft yacht and learning to sail her as I want to do something that I have been wanting to do since I had been on a comp crew course back in 1996.

@@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunches I am looking at mooring her in Portsmouth on a swing mooring. Its the cheapest that I could fined (£600 for the year).

@@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunches The reason for their is I live near Stonehenge and it is as I said cheap as well as easy to get to. I have to get it their first as the boat that I am looking at is in Plymouth. Trial by fire so to speak.
I have done a comp crew cse as well as an RYA level 2 powerboat and windsurfing cse while in the Army, so I do know the basics of sail and power.

I wasn’t strong enough to get through this video in a public environment. So much admiration and love for you both and for the whole Oliver family. It was obvious, even from the little interaction I had with Joel, he was an incredible man!

Beautiful tribute and I’m so sorry for your loss way too young. Not many families not touched by cancer in some way, myself included but it doesn’t make it any easier to cope with. I was at Haslar and on the ship this past weekend. Bit of a lumpy sail there from Chichester and I was moored right down the end of the visitors on one of the fingers. Needless to say I was wetting myself with dread at having to try and reverse my Rival all the way back to the entrance. Not enough room to turn and a very strong SW wind pushing me. Untied and gave it full welly and after a bit of zigzagging I got some steerage and made it out without bashing into anything. Lightship is very nice. Best wishes. Andy UK

That was a tough one to watch, and I can't imagine how tough it was to record. And I think you both did Joel proud by talking in such a heart-warming and genuine way. Grief and loss is something that affects all of us at some point - and we really don't talk about it with each other as openly and honestly as we should. I am sure that you have helped a lot of people with your open and honest approach.
And talking of being open and honest. Not tying at least one end of a mooring line to the boat... Really? Oh well, I guess it is a lesson learnt. I have one of those pull-down emergency ladders attached to the toe rail on the starboard side because I know I couldn't pull myself back up. I now think I must get another for the port side.
It's nice to have the both of you back.
