G'day Alax. Do not kid yourself with solar. Simply put it's like this for an 100 amp battery, you need at least 240 watts in total to have an full charge at the end of the day. So when you do up grade go to two 120 watt panels in parrel. That will allso allow for claud cover. Gerard.
I was thinking 400 watts of charging for a 280ah battery. I know I did the math somewhere. Look up Will Prows on UA-cam, he has a channel all about it. He can wear a mohawk too.
That's his channel, you'll have to look around for the video you need. Remember that part about little brothers? Well I'm an old man. So you can do the rest Alex.
Yeah I agree. The issue with a small boat is places to put it! I picked up a fold out blanket when anchored but the max I can get at the back is 50w each side. The two 30w cover my use as long as I don’t get more then one cloudy day. Being able to tilt then really improves what I can bring in.
Thanks! I try to upload once a week so it just depends on what footage I have as to when it comes out. I had lots of diy footage so that push’s back the sailing videos. I’m glad you are enjoying!
There's no way the upper reach before the oyster bed is 2m LAT as indicated on my rather old electronic charts. I put the legs out briefly before I grounded the second time
Hey Alex. Your rudder is transom mounted yea? If so you can very easily make a windvane autopilot, I posted a picture of one design on my Instagram about a month ago, I'll @ you in the comments. Edit: Ah, had a look, it's not. However there are a lot of DIY designs for windsteering vanes, and most are even easier for a small boat as the tolerances needed can easily be met by wood.
A sailor with an autopilot isn't a sailor, he's a passenger. If you go on an overnight sail or something, well accept it then. Otherwise keep sailing Alex
Hi , a nice place on the inside of the spit and Newtown creek mind the sunken wall and the swans are friendly .

@@chuckrobinson599 hahah!
Great video
I'm guessing you spend all summer recording then upload it out of season etc

Alex always interesting as usual and agree with the auto pilot comments Regards
Cheers!
Nice one Alex, so many great places to drop the hook in the Solent. Btw it is Newtown Creek not Newtons Creek….. loved the drone footage, Andy UK
I know it’s a bad habit!
Hi Alex where did you get your solar panel rail mounts from, its just what i am looking for cheers Ian
I 3D printed them myself!
I didn't think there was anywhere left worth visiting in the Solent now it's so crowded....
Get a small boat and get into the shallows as you will quickly find out that all the big boats will leave you alone!

It would be cool to fit a windvane on the back of Meraki. Would be tricky due to space.
@@AlexGoesSailing ua-cam.com/video/v1NYvZakg60/v-deo.html A tiller clutch may be the thing to keep you inline while snaking. Cheers!

I agree! I will have to carry on with my quick sprints to the fridge and back to the helm🤪
"wing on wing"? Somebody's been watching too much UA-cam.
I can’t help it!
The mohawk isn't a really good look on you. Just saying.
I agree😂
