I guess I found out how to get you guys worked up!
No I don’t believe in magic or witchcraft, that part was to add to the story. (Yeah, part of my video making is story telling, and to me the dowsing/witching added a good story element).
Numbers just didn’t add up to drilling that far away from the house, that is until we didn’t hit water, then we went to plan B. Sucked but we got through it.
For all who are disappointed because they think I believe in magic because of this video, then you must be one of those people who believe everything they see on the internet? 😳😜
It’s all in good fun guys, back to flying soon 🤘

Right there with you, brother! Built our house in '07-08. Economy collapsed mid-build, wife lost her executive job at the bank. We freaked out! Then we scrambled, went on "Financial Lockdown" and got our feet back under us & finished the build 2 weeks early and on budget...with two new jobs. Rest assured you two will pull through & it'll all work out in time. True character building exercise it is building house.

Being in the irrigation business for 20 plus years I have seen more dry or low performing wells than good. There are NO guarantee's with wells and it is always a gamble. Be happy you found water, because I know many that were not that fortunate. Good luck with the new home.

As a retired Petroleum and Environmental Geologist i was going nuts during dowsing part of the video but i am happy that so many folks out there also went nuts about it also. It gives me hope, I am sorry Trent you were taken by conman. Also not knowing where your home is but knowing you are in the Basin & Range area faulting will change the subsurface greatly. I once was drilling monitoring wells at a gas station and granite was found at 15' in one well and 110' in another well and they were 100' apart. Looking at airphotos later in the office i could see a fault higher in the hill and trending directly through the station.

Okies so here's another piece of advice, which so many are fond of doing from the armchair. Build the hanger first, then the house second. Rationale: One tends to run out of money by the time the house is built so none left over for a hanger. I mean, you gotta get your priorities right Trent.

What a nightmare! Glad you got through that & everything worked out! Place is coming along great! CONGRATS!! Can't wait to see it all finished - going to be beautiful, I can tell. 👍
We take water for granted out here in the Northeast - a complete 180° different world from the desert. Just a couple months ago, the water table was literally 6" ABOVE parts of our lawn - not even exaggerating. Now it's down about 5' -6' or so (I know since basement is drying out). Our well is 140' total with the water line at 120' to keep the water clean - it's just as good as spring water, especially after being run through a softener and a couple filters. Lucky for me, it came with the house (built in 1850 or so, but the well is approximately 50-70 years old). Neighbor had to drill 180 feet or so a couple years back, and that was $10-LARGE, so you can imagine how much 800' would be out here!

Trent- glad you found water, the key to life. I know exactly what you were feeling- years ago we started a project on our mountain land and drilled down 920 feet and ended up with just 0.5 GPM. We were very disappointed, and ended up halting the project. It just wasn't worth the already massively expanding budget (the road cost was also spiraling out of control). No regrets, we held on to the land for 20 years and now have a contract to sell it. Your project is looking GREAT- moving along at lightning pace. Very good that you are researching EVERYTHING before you do it- well done!

  • @TrevorDennis100
    @TrevorDennis100 4 роки тому

Trent, you are going to hate this... I live at Rapaura, smack in the middle of the Marlborough (NZ) Wine region, and in the best part of the valley. There are vines as far as you can see till you get to the mountains. When they drilled our well they hit water at 20', and a lot of it. They still had to keep going down to 40' as the water is cleaner and more pure at that depth. The well is shallow enough for a surface pump, and ours is so powerful we almost need a wet suit in the shower. The irrigation is like a fire hose. Near Christchurch the dairy farms have to go down to 300' for their water and need two pumps in series to push the water up that far, and we hear stories of $10,000 per month power bills to run the pumps. In NZ they say that water is the new gold. The more water you have the more pasture and can support more stock.

    Great video amigo.
First let me say this, after being in the utility business for 27 years I can personally tell you that wichin sticks are fairy dust and unicorns.
I have seen dozens of people try and prove them to me on locating utilities and/or water sources and no one have ever been successful in pinpointing anything other than the ground beneath her feet. 😀
Secondly, it sure is expensive to drill a well up there. Runs about nine dollars a foot in East Texas. Just had a 320 footer drilled, four-inch, well tested at 340 gallons a minute. We are fortunate in the eastern part of Texas to have the corizzo sand formation, it’s a sand so it is very porous and produces lots of water
like i said above, I like these types of videos from you. sometimes people forget to post things to let everyone know they’re just the average Joe next-door with everybody else’s problems.

When you are in a tight spot, beware of con artists who tell you what you want to hear.
BTW it sounds like you might have grounds for a lawsuit against the dowser, for fraud. Not worth spending a lot of money on, but at least it would expose him.

Funny how those who think water comes from the facet are belittling the guy hunting water in the desert. I grew up on the back of one of those rigs and have seen dowsing work when all others have failed. The goal was to find water and you did! Great to see Nick back at it.

Love your videography and editing...as usual, nice job! As to the water dowsing thing, there was a cool experiment performed a few years back. 30 expert dowsers were invited to Kassel, Germany in 1990 to have their abilities tested in a study organized by James Randi. Pipes carrying flowing water were buried underground at known locations and the dowsers were tested as to their ability to determine if water was flowing through the pipes. If interested, you can read about the results here: wtamu.edu/~cbaird/sq/2015/04/15/how-does-water-dowsing-work/

Had a water diviner out and had a look at a spot. Sunk a bore and hit water so much that its the biggest bore in the area.
Had a mining contractor go over with a chopper doing water magnetism and what......The best spot is exactly where he predicted.
A good diviner will find water.

@@gteea And how many hundreds of times have people withheld from telling their story because their diviner did not find water? It's confirmation bias. I know that when we live a certain way all our lives it's hard to admit we're wrong, but it is utter b/s.

My well was 150’ and more than 85 gpm, drilled into an aquifer. My neighbor drilled three wells before he had the minimum to build a house. We were on adjoining 5 acres lots, our wells about 300ft apart. I didn’t believe in water dousers until I met one at my place in Australia, he worked for the water department, he would locate pipes, he also noticed another conduit that appeared filled with water, that was phone service, and the phone company had to come out and drain it. Now I am a believer. We looked at a fly in community near Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, just a little too remote for us. I was flying a Cessna 310 at the time.

Wow, that's a really sad story, Trent! Water dowsing?! And it doesn't hurt?
My brain hurts after watching that.
I'm just glad we're not living on a flat earth that's only 5000 years old and has the sun and the stars spinning around it! 🤦‍♂️

Missed you and your videos, so anyway good to have you back and sounds like your having some kind of good luck?? Was good to see Nick, back out and around!!! We did the same thing to get water on our ranch in Alturas, my home town, back in 1962. We had really good luck with the water dowsing thing also can't figure out how the hell it works but who cares as long as it dose.

Great video Trent. Yes very stressful... Don't quit. Very similar experience when we built our house in '88. Serious water issues during a massive drought, running out of money during the build, etc. Just keep moving forward, you will get through it and your family will be grateful.

Trent as a backup you might want to consider rainwater harvesting. In your area it appears wettest months are from Dec-Feb. Rainwater harvesting from your rooftops could bank you Bonus gallons of water from a separate holding tank for peace of mind water. Just an idea that does work for many.
