Hi Alan
I sent you a mail and you replied last week - just for other people who are reading this - I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to 'real' whisky - I've been drinking it fo years, but recently got into 'good ones' - Alan helped me make up my mind when choosing a good one for the birth of my son (yesterday) - I have family connections to Arran, and this review cemented my decision - I have to say I cant taste all the things he talks about, but omg, this is the best whisky I have tasted - I got the glencairn glass and can smell the spice, the fruit and can really taste the sweetness! (do be careful though, its very very strong :D ) I really did enjoy sharing a dram with my Dad (who was helping with the child-care of my daughter while we were at the hospital during the lockdown) - thanks Alan - you have a new convert to sherry-cask and to Arran whisky (and one more subscriber for 2021) !!

I got this bottle a couple months back and it was amazing. Excellent entrance into cask strength whiskies and really well balanced and tons of fruit. I didn't know too much about arran before this whisky but it definitely put it on my radar and I would love to try their aged whiskies. Amazing how affordable it is for a cask strength as well.
I have found with arran that age is no problem for them... They are getting better... The bothy quarter cask is also a belter and the new 18 is wonderful... Thank you for dropping bye my friend....

Just finished a dram of this not 30 minutes ago :D picked up a bottle last week and working my way through it way too quickly. Delicious stuff. But I'm a big Arran fan. At the price it's at, provided I can always order it here in Sweden, I'll keep it stocked! Cheers, Alan.

I bought my bottle of this Arran around Christmas time last year but haven't opened it yet😀 IMHO Arran is the single malt whisky with the best price/quiality ratio where I live. This particular expression I can buy for the equivalent of about 36 GBP. The only other cask strength malt that I can buy cheaper is Tomatin for roughly 30 GBP when on special sale (which it is quite often).
Who needs overinflated, chill filterred and coloured "premium" brand whisky when there are such lovely craft-presented drams at great prices?
Really enjoy this one. Lots of flavor and a good value for the money. My new alternative to Aberlour A'bunadh now that it is getting expensive. Cheers Alan.

I’m a fan of Arran whisky. One of the malts that brought me to appreciate malt whisky... in a pub called Sloans in Glasgow. You might know it Al...😉, the Arran 10 it was .... wonderful.
I was in there most nights back in the day my friend... Throughout the 80's in fact... Great time fella...

is it better than a good Aberlour Abunadh or Glenallachie 10 CS. They are all about the same price here. My intuition says the Glenallachie 10 CS is the best of the 3 but you are Thee Whisky Fiend
FFs promised myself not to buy any malt this year.... :) Arran look so tasty. Both sherry and 18 are on my list

I just opened this late last week to send some fellow Canadian’s samples for Christmas and of course I had to have a dram myself. I thought, especially for the price, it was excellent!

Hey Allan! Just the infinity bottle of yours left to try now. I’ve actually enjoyed all the samples you kindly shared with me a couple of months ago!
I finally bought my first ever full bottle a couple of weeks ago, the GlenAllachie cask strength Batch 6, and I’m loving it. I’ve followed it up with a GA 12 yo, to stretch the batch 6 out a bit! I’ve also had my eye on this. How would you compare it to the GlenAllachie? I think the basic character of the two spirits is quite different? But I wondered if the sherry cask on this Arran made it at all similar?

What should I try next
OK... Let's have a go... Edradour 10 signatory vintage... Single cask around £55 in the UK... Edradour 12 ibisco decanter around £105 however that's cask strength or and Glenallachie 10 cask strength... Around £60....happy hunting my friend... Cheers...
How does this compare with the aberlour abundance?
fantastic my friend, the Aberlour is a little hot and suffers from batch variation sometimes there good and sometimes there great, the arran is so good and consistent here and its around £20 cheaper ..win win Arran....cheers fella
