The Lyrics In Wish Are BAD - Wish Review

- In this video, I talk about three reasons why the wish music is bad. This is not a wish reaction, wish trailer, wish official trailer, wish lyrics, Disney theory or wish theory. This could be called a wish review, wish analysis, or wish is bad. if you have questions like, is wish good? is wish bad? this video is for you. if you enjoyed at all costs lyrics, welcome to Rosas lyrics, this wish lyrics, this wish reprise lyrics, this is the thanks I get lyrics, I'm a star lyrics, or a wish worth making lyrics, this video is for you. If you enjoy Julia Michaels, this video may not be for you lol
“If the villain song doesn’t slap, the movie is surely crap!”
Sun Tzu - Art of War
Wisdom for the ages
EXACTLY.
I admired Sun Tzu’s knowledge so much when I was in film school
Yes
Confuzius also said that I think. Great minds think alike
And what’s crazier is that the original storyline was WAY better. The wife was a villan too, the star was a shapeshifting boy who would be her love interest, etc…and they decided to throw it all away for a movie that looks like it would be a episode of Sofia the first but it’s not even good compared to the animation of the show the show. Like the art style doesn’t match the animation.
Edit: I know Sofia the first is good because of nostalgia…BUT COMPARED TO TODAY’S ANIMATION, IT’S OLDER BUT STILL LOOKS THE SAME QUALITY AS A NEW MOVIE!
Modern Disney movie with a young boy lead? Never lol
YOUR KIDDING!!! THE STARBOY LOVE INTEREST? THAT SOUNDS SO ADORABLE!!! Seriously they should’ve gone with this version of the story- because the movie kinda- no it definitely sucked.
@@sond.lollipop8919 The girl would’ve been the lead but the star would’ve been the lover
@@fate7418 Agreed bro. I saw tiktoks about what it would look like if they kept him in
Hey now, at least Sofia the First had some compelling, unique characters and a few really catchy villain songs.
“I’m a star! 🐰”
“Watch out world, HERE I *ARE* 🦌”
WTH 💀💀💀
Here i are is possibly the only good line in that movie, i watched it with friends as a joke and that line’s shitty grammar got us laughing
@@Sipliminal it made me laugh too 💀
No I actually died listening to “felt this no I haven’t”
They could have said we. Same syllables. Fixes the grammar. It's a group song. It was *right* there
@@FrostyTheeSnowmann literally 💀
The fact that At All Costs was originally written as a _love song_ and they didn't bother to change the lyrics to fit the plot changes is *very* telling.
Now the song feels so awkward and wrong, while I actually enjoy the demo, the version they put in the movie... not so much.
they did change the lyrics though... they changed from Love you at all cost to Protect you at all costs lol
@@DarkDreams948ah yes, changing a single word suddenly takes away all the romantic elements in the song, the song that was, by word of the producers, meant to be played in weddings, it's now absolutely not awkward at all to use as a duet between a middle aged villainous man and an teen girl/s
Ok, sarcasm aside, I mean, c'mon buddie: We all know a single word isn't really a change that matters. If you change the word "loving" into "fighting" in the song "I was made for loving you", it's not enough at all to change the tone, theme and reading of the song, it still would be an undeniably romantic song. Same with "At All Costs" here.
It’s like an even worse version of Let It Go’s story… at least the final product still slaps
I listen to the demo version ALL the time
Fun fact: polish writers very often swap the lyrics of the songs to fit better with their language. This is why when you listen songs from Wish on polish dubbing, they are a real banger
You prompted me to look it up and holy crap does it hit better
nice
@@_stupidbro I know right?! And the words have a different meaning, so that's nice too
polska is just the superior language. we are BETTER
isn't writing new song lyrics and even dialogue that works properly in that language just a part of dubbing? I'm not sure what you meant; as opposed to leaving the songs in English while translating the rest of the movie or what? I haven't watched animated movies in years but that'd sound really strange to me
"Shitty music, this is"
"watch this movie, no one will"
-Yoda
“Disappointed in Disney I am”
Yes i heard no one talk about like Encanto
Offensive to yoda that is.
@@Ireallylikechocolate210*Disappointed in Disney I are
@@markjosephbacho5652Correct your assessment is.
In the song "I'm a star" they said "Here I are".
Grammar left the chat
Wish feels like it was written by AI
I would not be surprised at all
If people actually wrote these lyrics and we just THINK its AI, that's a really bad sign...
It’s gotta be AI
i’ve heard that everywhere, i’m sure it is
The voice could be too tbh in ( german)
I haven't seen it but it just feels like a nock-off "Encanto" with Isabella as the main character-
Edit: guys it was just a joke 😭
Eh yeah it definitely sounds like they copied encanto with a lot of the vibe of the songs but they really missed the heart of it honestly
EXACTLY what i was gonna say. Disney is 100% losing ideas which is also why they are making live actions of ALL their old movies
When I first saw the trailers, I thought it was a show for Encanto, and the main character was Isabella
IDK why y'all say this. The only similarity is in maybe their face shape and color palette. Isabella is darker, has a hooked nose, has a different eye shape, and completely different hair. Also Aisa (idk is that her name) has freckles
@@violetrose674 The isabella knock off has the same exact concept. The hair, the dress, the makeup, and everything else is super duper similar. Same with the music. The only thing different is the area they're located in... Sooo what your saying doesnt make sense
This is a well-made advertisement short. Normally shorts that advertise the full length video leave out key information because “oh, you’ll have to watch the full video for that”, leaving me frustrated. But this short gives a short summary of key points, and offers to elaborate on them in the main video. I like that. :)
Yeah, I actually considered watching the full video for once, cause it’s sounds interesting and she sounds like she knows what she is talking about.
Plus, instead of not delivering on what she promised, she instead delivers and then promises more. Might check the full thing
@@dudewhatthewhat8983 I recommend it. I saw the full video before seeing the short, and it was well written.
W short strategy
"Watch out world, here I are"
-that one deer in the movie
Disney cares, they do not
Make bad movie they will
Fucks, they do not give
Retirement, they have not took
Disney cares? About what? Money?
Bankruptcy, only thing they see
1:27 - And this is why the phrases “let the bodies hit the floor” and “basic peasant flour” can serve as mnemonics for 4/4 and 3/4 time, respectively.
Disney better hire us
The only song I love is At all Cost demo… IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A LOVE DUET ABOUT STAR BOY AND ASHA
well im glad there isnt romance cus they show horn romance alot when also not being super accepting unless its a straight romance.
but having the star be a close friend would’ve probably been better than whatever they landed on
AT ALL COSTS DEMO IS SO GOOD BUT LIKE
They changed the movie to not be a romance with Star boy and Asha so they kept the song and changed ONE LYRIC and now the song doesn't make sense in the movie.
At all Cost is the ONLY music in this pathetic excuse for their 100th year celebration. Disney just hates romance. Not sure why, but they hate it.
@@devilsdeckofcardsWell, if one of Disney's plans for Wish was to go back to tradition (animation or otherwise), to make to movie more conservative, or to make Wish's animation a tribute to their traditional 2D animation, there would have to have been a romance between a straight couple since that's what Disney has been known for until Frozen. In terms of romance in general, we haven't had a decent one since 2010's Tangled between Rapunzel and Eugene. Frozen put romantic love in the background to focus more on the love between Anna and Elsa.
'Mom I wanna watch Encanto!'
'We have Encanto at home.'
Encanto at home:
Im laughing my ass off at the “I don’t wanna” line
When I heard the songs for the first time, I REFUSED to believe that Lin-Manuel Miranda (who wrote the songs for Moana, Encanto, Hamilton and Vivo) made those songs. And I was right, he WASN'T
in summary, Lin-Manuel Miranda's songs are just absolute bangers (imo)
lmm gets dragged for so many projects that he had nothing to do with 😭
LITERALLY! I think they tried to make something similar to his music writing style with the songs being similar to Encanto’s but they failed so bad 😭🖐️
Fr, for whatever reason they didn't want to hire him again and instead made some crappy copy. It's fine if they hire someone else, it's just... You have to make sure they have musical skills :/
Omg don’t scare me like that- 😭
Yeah!! This the first time I've listened to these song but it sounds like they tried real hard to immitate his style. But ended up with what sounds like telling an AI to make a song in lin-manuel miranda's style.
“The disrespect i just underwent!”
Giving “The scream I scrumpt”
he cried, i crew, we both crode 💀💀
"Leave you here I don't wanna" 😂
Doesn't make sense at all 😭🙏
Wish looks like it was bought off of Wish💀💀
Wish was bought off of wish
LOLLL I haven't heard that one yet, so, clever!
Dude. . . That means to the site Wish! 😂😂😂 But yeah you got a point
They didn’t have Lin to write the music this time so they were STRUGGLING 😂
"the DISRESPECT I just underwent!!!!!"
I actually quote this ironically way too often
Of course! It's just so... silly... XD
One of the reasons that the songs sound so off is because it was made with pop music in mind and not musical theater
(Basically means that the songs aren’t meant to be used as a strong storytelling element
Bs, I've heard a ton of good pop songs with storytelling elements, you're just repeating something you heard in a different video, without the knowledge to back it up. I've seen the video too. He's wrong. The lyrics are actually bad. I checked.
BULLSHIT, go back and listen to 60s and 70s pop, they tell whole political statements wrapped in stories. 😂
Its giving:
The shape went into a shape press that pressed the shape so the shape that got pressed became a pressed shape.
Yesss exactly!!
“I was sweet but now I'm something else” followed by “He thinks we're nothing But we're something else!” was just god awful. Who wrote these.
AI
I wrote better lyrics when i was 14, and my lyrics were criiiinge.
The two worst offenders of bad lyrics in the movie are “ I let you live here for free and I don’t even charge you rent” and “watch out world, here I are”
The lyrics sound like a random tune I’d come up with in the shower
Ayyo don't insult my shower tuning capabilities, I write all my songs in the shower
This has to be ai generated
Ikr
“leave you here i dont wanna” COME ON
It’s probably from Disney attempting to work around the writers strike or something
I don’t think Disney would intentionally use ai, but I suspect they underpaid the writers and some of them used it.
has to be because DISNEY making bad songs? that dont feel right :/
“Wish wasn’t made by AI!”
Wish:
A idea they had was to make the little star an actual star boy that could be a love interest in the story, but they scrapped it and now I’m sad.
"You leave here"
"I don't wanna"
Sounds like how my classmates try to speak English
I've seen a pitch meeting video talking about Magnifico and Asha's song and the guy was like "oh he likes her?" "no, of course not! She's 17" "then why does it sound like a love song?"
Disney genuinely creeped me out when I heard that song... It sounds amazing out of context, but in context, my brain is just concerned.
How does Disney go from Encanto to this? Honestly if Encanto was the 100th year movie, no body would’ve complained
Yeah
And wish could have been better if they stick to the original where the queen was also the villain and star boy was the love interest
The craziest part was that this music was made before the ai trend started
“Watch out world here I are”
-yoda
I honestly never had any interest watching the movie and this honestly gives a bigger reason because good lord the lyrics are bad
Haha yeah a lot of people didn't, it's bombing real bad. Hopefully that'll bring Disney to their senses and get them to actually put some effort into their next movie
Spaniards: hyped for pixar movie finally inspired on Spain.
The movie:
People before the movie was released: i think disney is finally making quality films again!
Immediately after the release: so, that wasnt true at all, not even a little.
So sad after Encanto was such a hit. Their writers need to try harder.
What writers you mean robots 😂
One of the things that stood out to me was that the film doesn't have a modern setting, yet the music feels very modern with the instrumentation and lyrics
It also looks cheap. Everything looks so bright and just, untextured if that makes sense.
They also watered down the movie so much, magnifico could've had an evil queen wife, and the star could've been human. Why must disney give us a milkshake with only milk
I still liked the, I'm a star song.
It's a bop, it makes me smile.
That is enough
What a great analysis!!! I’ve listened to a couple of the songs, and couldn’t put into words what was wrong with them, they just made me cringe. Thanks for the in depth breakdown!!
Any time! 😋 Thanks for your comment!!
The main problem with this movie is it feels like the old tv movies disney used to have a few years ago, and not something for a 100th anniversary
As i concluded through many internet analysations (But not seeing the movie myself)
This movie has 3 core problems
1. Music
the music is written in a pop music kind of approach. So first Rythm and Music then text. What could be ok for radio but not if you try to musically tell a story.
2. Animation Style
The animations in and of itself is good even harder to make BUT with the mix of the 3D + try to look hand drawn kind of style it looks like not finished rendering. As if shadows are missing. It creates an uncanny valley feeling. The style probably would fit another movie but not this one what had to high expectations
3. Story telling
The heroine has no real problems and if a problem arises everything and anything kind of resolves itself … she doesn’t grow, she has no real flaw, she is almost perfect all the time -> She has no real Hero’s Journey -> she has no real story to tell.
“I no no wanna” ahh lyrics 💀
"Felt this no I haven't"
Okay then-
"Leave you here i dont wanna"
TOOK ME OUT💀💀💀💀
You know what? I DO want to learn more! (I think that's the first time a short actually got me to go watch the full)
That villain song had so much potential and they just flunked it
“Eloquent Dancers”
😭 😭 😭
Idk there's something about this film that makes me think "THIS is the next disney princess movie?"
Hopefully not.
I thought?? that I heard someone say that Asha will NOT become a Disney Princess, and I don't really want her to.
ok but like the beginning why it dead look like Encanto...
Yeah it definitely gives encanto vibes
Im still traumatized from hearing the deer go "Look out world here I are!"
"the disrespect i just underwent" is the best quote in the whole song
Should have had Lin Manuel Miranda do it, everyone loves Hamilton, Encanto, and Moana 💀
As an artist the animation looks more like 3d animation before any rendering as well. No lighting or textures.
Same studio that created Reflection, Colours of the Wind, Belle and Circle of Life, Let it Go. The musicality is unmatched, it's so mature in its application, I just cant fathom what they're doing over there. Maybe because they have so many avenues that need attention, they've neglected their best art form.
I just still can't get over "watch out world here I are"
I feel like the songs would have slapped if they kept the star boy and evil queen and king. The duets would have probably slapped. Especially for the villain song
Yep. Pretty sure they cut Star Boy because he was "too similar to Genie from Aladdin" which is a little ridiculous because they could have totally different personalities and look different, too.
A human/ish guy... who grants wishes... but that idea is too similar to the Genie from Aladdin? Awe, come on...
And maybe also to make the movie more marketable? But I haven't heard much about the reasoning for that one.
Such a bummer
Yoda the musical is something I would actually watch
As someone who has never touched a music theory in their life, there's my two-cents.
"We have this king called Magnifico,
who built us Rosas all those years ago"
“tHaT gEt’S mE eXiDaToRy”
Has left the chat
My mom's friend's son actually played trumpet for the overture for wish, but his name isn't in the credits
I love the songs 😂 they remind me a little of el dorado
We cant forget "WATCH OUT WORLD, HERE I ARE"
Don't forget "Throw caution to every warning sign"
The animation makes me think of Baldi’s basics
The “emphasizing the wrong parts of lyrics to make them fit the melody” thing bothers me so much with songs and I thought I was the only one.
"Watch out world here I are," came from the same studio who made Hellfire and Circle of Life....
" I am a star, here I are-"
Didn't like a top dog in Disney complain saying that kids lost the wonder of simple story's of something like that? Like dude, you have years of the same story but different characters.
Yeah the music really ain't good
It's sad but true
“Im a star”
Watch out world here I are”
The lyrics of their songs remind me of songs I made when I was 7 where I’d just pick any word to rhyme even if it didn’t make sense
"yes i are" is a crazy lyric they had in the song the animals sang
I watched it in the cinema in germany and i want to add the speed of the singing was so unnatural you would think it was ai
they tried to imitate Lin Manuel Miranda’s songwriting style… they failed… miserably…
When she said "Felt this no happened" I FELT THAT😭😭😭😭
Magnifico's villian song made me cry in a bad way, and I'm a sucker for villian songs.
When i heard the line "here i are" in the youre a star song, i genuinely went, 'oh no...oh nononononono..'
You forgot the biggest flaw of them all:
"Look at me, here I ARE!"
Can't imagine a worse way for disney to celebrate its 100th year anniversary
Im so glad someone is finally talking about the actual issues with the music
you gotta admit though the voice actors did their damnest to make this burning barrel of fire work in any way
clearly there was some meddling stopping them from actually changing anything, but damn if that will stop them from at least *trying* to make these songs work
“Watch out world here I are”
Bro the “villain” wasn’t even evil. He just didn’t want people to make selfish wishes.
coming from the beauty of encanto to wish is whiplash
"Im a star ⭐"
"Watch out world here i are😎"
Don’t forget the banger of a line in im a star, “here I are.”
“The disrespect I just underwent” is wild bro 💀
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that noticed this 😅
it’s funny to me that the issues with the lyrics you pointed out (weird emphasis, clunky grammar) is exactly what happened to international translations of Disney songs after Disney started dictating them. Back in the day, the translators in each country were able to still convey the original meaning of the song, even without translating word for word. But since Disney is dictating a literal translation now, the quality severely declined. What first comes to mind are the German lyrics for songs in Frozen. I guess the Ebglish versions can join the club now
The fact that Chris Pine was James Tiberius Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek movie
'watch out world here i are'
"I'll let you stay for free, I won't even charge you rent!" 💀
"Watch out world here I are"
I wish they would redo the entire movie but this time using their concept ideas.
It's like you put all the songs on a record player and made them play backwards
