I don't think I could have left the pan and re threaded it, since it pulled the threads there was no metal to make new threads of the same diameter out of. That factory sleeve was thin and I also don't think there was enough thickness to drill it out to the next size and heli-coil. The spot-welded plate would hold a thread or two but I don't think that could hold up long term and I would still worry about leaving metal in the pan. It was a pain but I'd still pull the pan to not have to worry about it
