Whoever is complaining about Armenia appropriating their flute, will surely get a shock when they realise a French bloke is playing it !!!
So happy you mentioned Go Tiffany!! Truly my Roman Empire of the nf season
The fact i was today’s years old when I found out she isnt singing Go Tiffany fr 🥲🥲
don't let the people who were mad about bashar murad being in the icelandic nf hear about the australians cyprus has been borrowing lately
Musty? Lucky they didn't send "Paskana" where several languages would think it was about Easter!
And paska in finnish means shit
Accurate and fair analysis of the Armenian ❤🇦🇲 entry. I'm very pleased they made it in the top 10. They really were a breath of fresh air in a very controversial Eurovision. Bravo 🙌
Some comments:
-Armenia has a huuuge diaspora which should be taken into account when considering their qualifying chances, which imo are almost 100% since France is voting in the same semi (and there are a lot of Armenians living in France).
-Iceland's NF has had similar cases of the winner of the first round surprisingly losing the 2nd round, it happened in 2015 and more recently in 2022.
-I would personally consider that a reason for Bashar losing was that the voters of the other entries (particularly Sigga and Anita) voted for Hera, since her song was the closest to what they liked. Essentially, they wanted a girlbop.
Louis (the man in Ladaniva) is also french so that might help
…add to your list on non-native singers…Sean Sherrard (A.K.A. Johnny Logan) born in Australia and two-time winner of ESC for Ireland
lol Johnny Logan literally comes from my two home cities Frankston and Derry 😂😅 I like to think I'm connected to him in some way 😂
bro I didn't know that Johnny was Aussie??
One of subwolfter and then there's Vanilla Ninja - who were Estonian and represented Switzerland when their native country for some reason decided to send the abomination that was Suntribe instead.
Armenia: very doubtful for me to qualify.
Iceland: sure NQ
Belgium: very much a qualifier
I would have agreed with you before the SF's, but it turned out:
Armenia: not only qualified, but got top ten (8th).
Iceland: fair
Belgium: very much not a qualifier.
Oops
We're in for an absolutely vintage ESC Gabe bollocking of Iceland, lads. Strap yourselves in.
Just arrived here. The Best way to deal with what Happened at Malmo. Thank you for the intelligent and funny thinking. ❤ from Portugal
Belgium is my number one this year, I still remember the full body chills I got the first time I listened to that song, not just for the entire last minute but during the first two choruses as well. I love the moody vibe at the beginning and I love how it crescendos at the end, the trumpets in the last few bars of the song are to die for. With the right staging and good vocals I think Mustii is in contention to win.
well this aged well eh?
@@sj211 well, I still believe that with the right staging and good vocals he would’ve done very well. Unfortunately the staging was a missed opportunity and the vocals were extremely weak
Yeah like people who say Bashar can't represent Iceland because he's Palestinian? Who's going to tell Cyprus they can't have Aussie's represent them anymore? 😂😅 are we going to take away Celine's trophy from 1988 because she's not from Switzerland? And do I even bring up the Johnny Logan? 😂😅🇦🇺
That's a stupid statement and honestly shows whoever is saying these comments knows nothing about ESC.
ppl would argue about Sillia bcz her father is Greek or Cypriot I think
@@dhilandass7986I'm pretty sure both of them are from Greece and Cyprus. But yeah she was born in AU.
@@nick_5791_GR oh ok
Just gonna comment about how much I love Armenia, major bop
It was nice seeing you in London pre party. I hope you enjoyed Estonia:)
NQ?
Hera: I feel it coming WOOOOO
I wish Iceland had gone with Go Tiffany, so I’d like a better explanation why being ‘dated’ is such a bad thing. I’ve not once looked at the date a song was recorded before I deciding I like it, and still enjoy songs from the past as much as I did then.
achievement unlocked: new shirt
Love your content👏👏
I've been really enjoying 🇦🇲 entry though didn't know it and the mv was so riddled with meaning so particularly appreciated your explanation. Had a sense of deja vu when you were discussing Songvakeppnin, but while Bashar's song wasn't my fave, I think objectively it was the best pick for 🇮🇸 and would've been right to have a 🇵🇸 artist at ESC this year in particular. 🇧🇪 is currently my no2. His back catalogue got me intrigued and he did not disappoint 😍.
Gimlo has been saying it sounds like Jet2 holidays ad music since the dawn of man! Finally some vindication!!!
One of Subwolfer is British too.
I do appreciate your take on the instru ment however do keep in mind that the d u duk is a 3000 year old ins trumnt native to the a r menin Highlands which predates the existence of t u. Rkic people in the region by 2000 years . Also there is not a single d u duk or any variation of it featured in the video louis was playing a NORMAL recorder flute which goes to show how little the people commenting know of the stuff they talk about .
Armenia - I am quite positive that they will qualify, however in the final I predict 20th(ish) place
Iceland - unfortunately I don't see them qualifying unless a massive amount of old aunties decides to vote
Belgium - for me they are an obvious qualifier, depending on the performance in the final I'd say top 10 overall
Ahh i've waited for xour take on those. Thank you for your insights ❤🎉😊
Thank you! Your content is making this Eurovision season a lot more fun.
Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for the video and actually the insturment in the ladaniva's song wasnt ney in turkey, i dont know what it is but i am sure it is not ney 😅
It's called shvi
In the Barcelona Eurovision party, everybody was dancing armenia. Ot feels like a safe qualifier to me
exactly!
I now really enjoy scared of heights on my playlist
The "controversy" in söngvakeppnin final makes no sense since only like a thousand sms votes were cast so Hera would have won either way.
Yes you avoided the UK using other nationalities. Remember Katrina who is American and Olivia Newton John had spent years growing up in Australia. It doesn't break any EBU rules so no worries.
Dave Benton from Aruba.
Did you expect me to list every example ever 😭
@@ar50000 He became Estonian right after winning
Gabe what songs will we be hearing about next week?
What a clever guy! Big respect!
Honestly I wasn't following the rest but the Armenian section.
I am more impressed by your thinking and massage delivering capability.
What nation do you represent?
I don't mean your English accent.
As for Azerbeidzjan, country formed by traveling tatars by lenin and ataturk in the Caucuses, named by a persian geographical name, imagine their culture and duduk in their hands.😅😅
Put Hera on La Zarra's column?
7:00 also Australia’s Digeridoo
Back with another hit from Armenia as usual but I don't think they can quite top Brunette's 2023 entry 🇦🇲
Armenia is gonna be a juggernaut in the televote just watch.
Armenia - great interesting song. Could do with more lyrics / more depth.
I feel that with Belgium too though constant "before the party is over" at least it builds nicely. Memorable at the end. I think some people might go to the toilet at the start though... :/
I love go Tiffany for Iceland haha! But Iceland likely won't qualify either way.
I actually think before the party’s over weakest part is the last section. The melodies are pretty but the ending is so repetitive it feels anticlimactic.
you totally did the drawing of a horse joke the wrong way around
I could NOT escape #GoTiffany
Go Tiffany
I think Armenia will be sailing through.
Armenia❤❤❤
It was clever of you to quote a Turkish scholar about Armenian culture 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I have a slay and a nay for the Icelandic act
Hera looks better than ever, Benjamin Button of a sort
She is Scared Of Heights so she will stay at the semi final bottom I will let myself out 🏃♀
I want to add something regarding Icelandic national selection that you did not include “the involvement of a member/director of Kan (Israeli government broadcaster) in the Icelandic selection” . He created a group with the sole purpose of having Bashar lose the national selection. He somehow rigged the voting by telling people to vote for Hera, so that Bashar wouldn’t go to Eurovision. When asked why he did that He said he wanted to keep Eurovision apolitical, when on the other hand Israel is sending the most political song ever.
Armenia - fun, ethnic, but not really that great and quite repetitive in 2nd half of the song
Iceland - Eurovision 2004
Belgium - the song is good, but so far he seems to be really weak live, I hope he's just sandbagging for Malmo
I truly appreciate your take on the instrument however do keep in mind that it is a KNOWN fact that the dud k is a 3000 year old instrument native to the a r meniN Highlands which predates the existence of t u rk.ic people in the region. Plus not a single du uduk or any variation of it was featured in the video NOT A SINGLE ONE louis was playing a regular recorder flute not some ancient instrument which goes to show how little the people who comment all this stuff about stolen culture actually know of the matter
who fucking cares about Azerbajdzjan .
Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla ….
Go to the point
Shame about Iceland's result. Scared of Heights truly was the most boring option, and clearly only won because of Hera's legacy position. If someone without a fanbase had submitted the same song, it never would've gotten this far.
Another one wasn’t better 😂
@@timgriffin2021 Every single song was better than Hera's.
Who likes you?😅😅
Few points to Iceland because other two countries are just meh whatever for me (Iceland too but nvm) 😂
The thing is. This whole withdrawal situation with Iceland 🇮🇸, was genuinely embarrassing. For few reasons…
One is that Eurovision is insanely popular in Iceland so I dont think RÚV would want to lose that viewership because of their statements or political stances. Genuinely… they are not so important in this contest for EBU financially wise or for a public in general. So they would not be missed. It was all a pose to stir drama.
Two… is their decisions being like “Oh, we aint gonna take matters into our own hands. We let the artist decide. But first we publicly announce this. That we dont agree with israel participation, but we will participate anyway and let the winner deal with it themselves.” Literally potentially throwing a winner into a pit of internet bullying, because agreeing with going to malmo would mean they agree with Israel 🇮🇱 participation and thats a no go zone in some part of a community.
And that , ladies and gentlemen, is just flipping lame. Why are you putting and artist into a situation you are supposed to deal with yourself?
Three… the whole involvement of Hatari in Bashar’s entry is 😬😬😬 and it showed after the results. Cry louder dude. These things just happen. Sometimes you just lose even if you are a favorite. Just get over it dont be a cry baby. We know why you wanted to represent iceland so bad this year.
The question is… would he say “No”? If so, then this whole situation is pathetic and if he said yes…. Then it would be pathetic too. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Theres not realy a similiar song like Armenias ? Gabe come on, there is Greece. Tbh I dont think both will make it and unfortunally Greece is way stronger than armenia. Sad to say it but I think its a clear NQ
shut up Jenny. Yes, it isn't a clear qualifier but it definitely is NOT a nq
@@dhilandass7986 yeah, this wasnt meant as any hate towards the song. I really like it actually. My comment was just pointing out the situation, for it, in the second semifinal. Even if I wished, I just cant see the average viewer putting this over any other song that is qualifying over it. Espacially with the same genre as Greece. They will most likely not vote for two traditional Dance Songs and Greece is just stronger.
@@jennysid yk that Armenia and Greece are seperated in the running order so they have a chance
@@jennysidI don't agree that two songs that are ethnic can't both qualify. Some years multiple pop bops and multiple ballads do, if they're both distinctive and upbeat why not?
@@EmoBearRights Thats true with bops and ballads but the sad realtity is that western europe will not vote for two ethnik entries... Especially with both being in the same feel good/dance genre, with so many other great songs in this semi.
I'm sorry mate but your icelandic was bad in the video
So, I don't like Armenia, Iceland, an Belgium songs !
