Not at all, I once saw that one performance they did for an Estonian talkshow of that song and I immediately made a "Hey Vsauce, Michael here" comment.
Fun fact: the "Estonian Vsauce" is older than the actual Vsauce. Michael is not even 40 as of now. So theoretically he's closer to 5MIINUST in age, to at least one or two of the members...
I've been looking forward to your review of Lithuania since Luktelk is my current winner (and extremely likely to stay as such), and I really appreciate the intricate analysis of the live performance! The staging truly brings such next level enhancement to the entrancing atmosphere of the song. The whole package makes me highkey feel like I'm hypnotized and I love it.
PS. Moldova 2015 is an absolute banger, we shall never be silenced!! 🙌
26:08 Svai from Twitter here, I can confirm that we don't like to be massively energetic on shows like these, to the point of me screaming for The Roop after they performed in our NF final 4 years ago almost got me kicked out of the arena. (Not really though, just a security warning was issued.) Yep, that's how severe it can get.
Ex-Yu national finals are this dead inside by choice of including way too little people in the audience. Our national finals are filled with lots of people too spooked by high levels of energy at night, or older people in general. We tend to have a little more energetic crowds when there's a lot more younger people watching something (I went to a Måneskin concert and it was just that - not insane levels of energy, but "levels" of energy regardless). Older people just come to watch something for the sake of watching something and then leave.
Oh my gosh! Estonia was definitely one of my favorite entries this year. I was so upset that it did so poorly with the jury!

I totally agree with your description about Lithuania. It's the whole pakkage and the act is complete. How Silvester looks in the camera is when he got my attention at the first time seeing his semi final performance. He draws you in with his big blue eyes and that points his finger to the camera shows that he can play with the camera. you can rewatch his performance so much as you can because it's addictive and that the song stays in your head is a good sign aswell
My only complaint for the editing is that he didn't add the clip where Silvester won and a guy in the audience immediately shot up with his hands in the air as if praising God

half of the views on estonia's song on eurovision channel may be from me alone. i feel like in the contest itself it will attract the people who also liked zdob si zdub in 2022. obviously the songs are different but they're both fun, in a native language, with folk elements and talking about something important. so hopefully they get a similar score or else i'm going to the closest embassy to protest

When it comes to the picked songs I will only shortly comment that I am obsessed with Silvesters and Luktelk and enjoyed the song without understanding the lyrics and
when I did read the lyrics it suddenly all made even more sense. I vibe with it on a holy level

Mirrorball of Hope is in my top 5 nf songs this year. To me the message is so clear and powerful. As someone who deals with a lot of self doubt this song just really brings me a lot of confidence. Its so fun and camp and just itself, no matter what people think and I love that

As a Dane, I'm fully with you. DR has been trying to copy Sweden's homework for years without actually understanding a word of what it was reading, and it's been a total embarrassment to watch. I actually chose to sit out this year's MGP, because I had better things to do that evening than vote on eight songs, which I really didn't think were anything special based on the studio versions - again. If I had to have picked something, I'd have picked "Planetary Hearts", if only because it was something different, even if I knew it likely wouldn't qualify. I wasn't surprised when "SAND" won, though I'm really not a fan of the juries still being a factor in our selections. If they don't want the people picking so-so songs, they should vet their roster better, not give 5 people the same voting power as the 5 million viewers at home.
I think we'll qualify, but I am under no delusion that we're cracking top 10, if the field is even remotely competitive. I really wish DR would stop trying to "win" Eurovision and figure out what Melodi Grand Prix should be, by itself. I want a party, I want tunes I can still dance to 20 years from now ("Vi Maler Byen Rød" is a bop, fight me), I want lyrics that are, at least, as moving as "Under Stjernerne På Himlen" and "Smuk Som Et Stjerneskud", and I want DR to stop pretending Danish isn't a beautiful language and insist on doing everything in bloody English. Italy, Norway, Finland, and Ukraine are kicking so much ass, because they're making music for themselves first, ESC second, while maintaining a high creative standard. I wish we'd take a page out of THEIR book, instead of the BBC and fucking MelFest. We've got so much good music in Denmark, and I'm so tired of having to vote on songs, which couldn't even beat most other NFs' runner-ups, nevermind the actual winners of 'em.

the venue for the eesti laul semi was probably that horrible due to the national broadcaster being SEVERELY underfinanced this year (which makes cecilia not qualifying even more outrageous because she was pretty much the only one who managed to make that awful space work for her but whatever)
and i agree, the technical difficulties and bad camera work are the only things holding eesti laul back from being an S tier nf (that and the awkward pacing of the show)
Ok but I am THE BIGGEST Silvester Belt fan and I would take a fucking bullet for him I swear to God- but for the first time ever, my winner has potential to win the whole contest. I guarantee Lithuania will get its best result ever (top five) and I really hope Eurovision could be held in Vilnius or Kaunas in 2025! LET'S GO LITHUANIA

I love Estonia’s song and I agree that Ollie’s song did not bring a lot of flavour to the content, being weaker than Venom from previous year. The 5min….. can’t pronounce it 🥹😂 really deserve it and I hope they qualify in the final.
Denmark. It’s a good song, but I’m not sure of Denmark qualifying. For now I do not see it.
Lithuania - I love the song, puts you in a good mood and it sticks in your head. However, I don’t see Lithuania winning this year. I see them top 6-10. I don’t think juries will get the song. The public will give them a lot. So I believe for now as bets and tops are made, I’m afraid that Lithuania, as well as my favourite this year Norway can’t win 😢
Rap group feat folk group already won in 2022
Not in that sense. See, Kalush has never officially been credited as "Kalush ft. ", but in technicality yes, one could make an argument that rap + folk has seen a Top 5 result in Eurovision in the past. However, Estonia 2024 falls more in line with another song from 2022 - "Trenulețul" by Zdob şi Zdub and Advahov Brothers. Which did just as great in terms of televote, in fact came 2nd there only to you know who. (2022 televote being dominated by folky songs in their top 2, who'd've thought.) That falls more in line with Greece 2013 ("Alcohol Is Free" by Koza Mostra & Agathonas Iakovidis) as well. What ties them all together is that they were one act composed of two, featuring folk elements in the song, great fun is had. But yes, you *can* make an argument that this one in particular spiritually leans into "Stefania" by the Kalush Orchestra dynamics, but again, it's not credited to have featured anyone, it was just written out as "Kalush Orchestra", with no separation of Kalush and Orchestra. And "Stefania" leaned in on the emotional aspect whilst also being a little bit of fun in a way. The Estonian entry is pure fun.
I think we have too many chachacha kind of songs this year and they will fight for votes and I am afraid the votes will split up between all of these.

i think there's just too much disconnect between whatever the heck she was doing with the song and the fairytale to make the connection. but now, I definitely want a proper mermaid song for Denmark in the future....
I absolutely loved the estonian song, except the mongolian throat singing. I cant hear it in baltic or scandi 'folk' music without hearing it as gross cultural appropriation.
Im all for fusion music, but a lot of people listening to this 'folk' music genuinely think its part of their own cultural heritage.
