Beautifully played by tony g against a good player. Most people check raise sets. And it doesn’t make sense to really have a jack here and if you did have like J8 of hearts you wouldn’t jam the turn right. Feels like a combo draw 68 of clubs or something
Phil is obviously one of the best, but that was definitely not a good call. Phil could have waited for Tony to blast-off in a far better spot, as he didn't beat any set, 2-pair, or a Jack.
@@DovisVideo this mentality only works in straight forward low stakes game with people who over commit. A lot of bluff and meta play happens on the higher levels, and back then it was a bit strange
@@RodJeez and your analysis was great? Mumbling something about low stakes games, meta play, and high level poker. Betting and then calling nearly 7 times the raise, after an overcard came, while blocking both flush draws, was certainly a bad play. Just because he is Phil Ivey doesn't mean every play he has ever made was good .
Tony G is a great player but he has a tell. I've seen a lot of hands of his and Phil knows it too I think which is why he knows he's beat but can't help himself. Phil has a weakness in his game too that players can exploit but you also need to be a solid player to beat him in the long run even if you know this.
Tony G looking like your average washed up car salesman with that jacket and posture with his hand in the pocket :D
It’s always fun seeing Tony G,the Man is a riot.
Somehow this channel still manages to find hands between poker greats that I’ve never seen. Impressive.
The only time i seen Tony G not talk during a hand of his.
Cause the only way he could ever beat Phil is by playing junk and getting a lucky flop
@@waynecampbell5091 the call was terrible even with the blocker
he played it like a set!
He thought he had a set.. Even I thought I had a set
Tony g played it like a draw, if he had a set he wouldnt have shoved all in
He took EVERYTHING
No he doesn’t deserve any applause.. he called with 10 10 😂
Tony G respects Ivey, that's why he didn't call the clock like he did on Robl, Hellmuth, or Tilly hahahah
That’s also why he played this hand strangely, raising so big on the turn is the only way to cause confusion in Phil Iveys mind
He respects ivey cause hes a gambler like himself Hence the call lol
Tony is one of the smartest players out there. He knows his limits and how to confuse everybody
He respects phil iveys ability to read him like a book if he makes a peep.. that's totally different.
To be fair this was a 130k+ pot
I loved watching this again but why the heck is Tuchman trying to act like he has an accent. LMAO
Noticed that too…I spent some time in England in my early 20’s and started to pick up the accent without knowing it.
Only getting 1.5 to 1. Looks like a fold. Half the time he's crushed, half the time he's ahead by a little.
Bring him a million. Bring him a million....
Has Chris Ferguson actually ever placed a bet? I must have watched 20 of these vids, I have yet to see him play any hand.
Golden era of poker
That must be Fergusons fastest fold ever, his average thinking time of hand 21min.
when tony G is quiet he has a big hand, easy.
What kind of "bike" does Phil Ivey right?
Brutal spot. Especially since Phil had a blocker for BOTH flush draws.
Isn't that a bad thing though? Phil would have had a lot more equity if Tony had a flush draw.
Since when Comments on UA-cam made sense
@@gregmajewski3406 not if they were flush draws with a jack then he’s also huge dog
@@gregmajewski3406 yes exactly. Makes Phil’s fold easier, so not sure if that’s what the commenter meant
@@aleca2442 OP said blocker for flush draws, not Jh draw. Greg is correct that OP's specific comment does not eliminate draws favorable for Phil

You could jam to play it like a bluff
Call the clock!
Worst call ever seen from phil

Wow yeah I mean he didn't have a premium hand so it was a bad call! What a great analysis
@@RodJeez hahaha that was my reaction too, fkin fish explainers i swear
@@DovisVideo this mentality only works in straight forward low stakes game with people who over commit. A lot of bluff and meta play happens on the higher levels, and back then it was a bit strange
It was ok.. You fold in spots like this all the time with the way the hand played you're def over folding
@@RodJeez and your analysis was great? Mumbling something about low stakes games, meta play, and high level poker.

Tony played this very well after moving all in. The Mouth and Helmuth would talk Ivey from calling.
don't understand the call you block all the bluffs with a club and a heart in your hand
lmao @ blockers in Hold Em. 🤦♂
Phil has his chips like that so the camera can’t video him I bet.
$200k is not a drop in the bucket to a man who has one 8 million. $200k is a significant hit to your stack.
I don’t really see Phil Ivey as ever being “destroyed “. Outplayed? Yes. Outwitted? Sure. But not destroyed. He’s Phil Fuggin’ Ivey.
Good for Tony G!
so weird hearing the way tuckman is talking here, trying to put on that fake english accent, knowing how he normally talks
Classic hand!
I would have put Tony on J 7

actually a lil bit good. cuz Tony's ranges is pretty big

this is why you can't make a living playing CASH GAME poker.......only tourney poker......even the best in the world make costly mistakes....
Yep, and than you rebuy and earn it all back. Make mistake in tourney and bye bye
