    I know it's easy to criticize any poker play after seeing the hand and the result, but I think it's obvious Patrick should have folded on the river. Unless he puts Phil on a stone bluff (a flush draw that missed?) there's really no legit hand he can beat. Phil's flop bet and re-raise looks like it has to be AK, AQ, AJ or JJ. It's pretty hard to put Phil on a flush draw or a weak Ace with that re-raise.

      There was actually more to this hand then meets the eye, they were playing prop bets during this hand, and the hand is even more sick for Patrick, i dont know the exact rules of the prop but it was something along the line that if Phil won the hand and didnt have an Ace Patrick would owe Phil 60k or something like that, which insentivice more to Phil having bluffs, its an intervew here on YT where they talk about it. i saw it years ago but cant find it.

    Feel like it wasn't the best call (Obviously I know the cards). Phil did a great job i think of sending some false tells. Given the betting pattern he Obviously knew at the end he could only beat a bluff. It's hard as some players have taken pots down with bluffs of that size.

      How is the 10c even relevant if Ivey has a full house? He's not semi-bluffing with any flush draw here when he makes it 50K on the flop. That would be stupid when you could be drawing absolutely dead or some of your outs are dead as well. He also has to figure when Antonius calls, he has an ace and basically nothing else.
      I know people like to think poker has evolved a ton but it really hasn't. The 10C is irrelevant here.

    Never understood Patrick’s call here. You beat absolutely no value. Had to be a pure bluff but Phil showed strength pre thru the river. They played so much together I believe Patrick just overthought the whole hand. I could almost get behind a all in if he had a lot back since he blocks AQ and AJ. But. Phil was down so much I don’t think he is folding. Patrick could easily rep AJ, AQ or A5 suited. I don’t think either had enough left to make that move though

    If you think about it a little bit, you only beat a bluff, what are the odds of that? very very low, you lose against JJ, AK, AJ, AQ, QQ, A5, TK....there were some side bets, as Patrick explained later, that maybe made the call reasonable

    • @chriswilson1968
      @chriswilson1968 2 роки тому +4

      Mainly he's worried about AK and JJ. AJ is very unlikely, AQ and QQ also very unlikely. Phil probably never plays QQ that way. He also blocks AK there's only one single combo in the deck. Same for AQ and AJ. He's only worried about a few combos. He's also explained there were some props that may have swayed him to call. There's many more combos he beats. Any weaker ace besides A5. Any big flush or straight draw. He could have KQc. Maybe Phil bluffed him an hour earlier mayeb hes got the other A10. The way the action played it totally could have made sense for him to have the big club draw, barreled the turn missed the river then bombed. Doesn't want to check fold all that money when he's already down. It's not a horrible call in my opinion
