He is very much an athiest and won the richard dawkins award for "inspiring a global audience to find joy in reason, science, and skepticism."
Only one thing to say..... the pope song
And Storm is fun. And Come Home Cardinal Pell (but need to know some of Pell's backstory around that time particularly hard hitting for us Perth kids, and that at the time he was hiding overseas to avoid questioning regarding child SA in Catholic schools)
It needed to be said, and you said it. Bravo.
The pope song is the obvious next reaction. storm, this, pope song... then dark side awesome version of course.
Yes definitely The Pope Song 🤣
Yes yes yes!
Tim is one of the best "Atheist" comics. He is a wordsmith, efficient in debunking dogma.
Don't be fooled, Tim can write the most epic lyrical burns dripping in sarcasm, but he can also swing it around and come out with some of the most beautiful music possible. Listen to Beauty (is a harlot), Night Will Come, Carry You, The Aeroplane ... Very talented.
White Wine in the Sun makes me cry.
Tim is from my home ground, Perth, Western Australia and think he's about a year older than me. He used to play at my uni theatre a couple of decades ago. Redheaded Perth kids power!
Everyone (myself included) needs to visit Perth at least once in their lifetimes. I believe it is the city which is the furthest from any other city on Earth? The natural beauty around is a bonus!
First he wrote all this music WOW. His Beat Poem titled STORM is a fantastic argument at a dinner table. Brilliant piece of writing and even better performance
I did that one already 😁
Don't be afraid to pause as often as you like when watching Tim. It's how we know you're paying attention!
He truly is a masterful lyricist, and stopping to take a moment to appreciate a particularly fun play of words is something we've all done at one point or another.
If you haven't tried Bo Burnham yet, I highly suggest it. He's an American comedian that was inspired partly by Tim Minchin, and does a lot of musical humor as well.
If you want to stick with the Tim Minchin train, I can suggest "If I didn't have you," for the lyricism, or "Dark Side (Awesome Version)," for the raw piano talent he displays in that performance.
How can you not recommend the pope song next?? The man can obviously handle it, and it's good to let him know who he's dealing with before moving to the purely entertaining ones :D
This live version at the Comedy Prom is the best, for sure - some recorded versions he stumbles a bit on a word or two, as well as not always including the spoken set up. His 'It's a miracle' at the end is cos he nailed this performance perfectly, for pretty much first time :P
And also yes - 'Thanks Sam! Let me just set up a 3 hour event with a full orchaestra at one of the most prestigious and iconic venues in the world (Royal Albert Hall, London), and a specific 20 minute bit on just how grateful I am that you herded me away from my friends to tell me about your mom's eye and God!' xD
Sorry guys it kept getting blocked. The original (un-blurred) linked above will be posted (free to watch on Patreon momentarily)
You're not the first reactor to have this version of "Thank You, God" blocked. Another reactor I watched ended up posting a version that cut out the opening monologue, which of course by giving the listener a backstory provides an important setup to the song itself, so thank you for sticking with the original version despite the editing headaches you obviously went through.
By the way, I am pretty sure the block doesn't originate from Tim. In his song "Confessions," at the end he was forced to voice a copyright disclaimer over his own song. Not to give any spoilers, but in the voice over he describes how he had used a slightly-modified single line from a famous song--which had been blocked. He concludes his description of the incident by saying"...and copyright lawyers are dicks!"
@@timpwhit yeah Tim is very very on record as loving people seeing his videos in any way.
I'm in a very religious area and on Sunday I will blast this song in my car with the windows down and just soak up the glares from the people on their way to church. :)
It's very difficult to argue with Tim's reasoning. I don't mean just in this video but his beliefs in general. Many people credit him/his work with helping them leave religion and to think more logically (he has definitely helped me).
Apparently, the big hands in the air Tim dose at the end of the song, is in celebration of completing the song for the first time without stuffing it up
Ross Noble is British through andv through, his wife is Australian so he moved there, sadly he lost his home and all his possessions in a bush fire so they returned to the UK for a bit before moving back to Australia again....he tours both countries regularly.and he and Tim are close friends...😊✌🇬🇧
Its not a joke. Thats just his belief. I honestly have the same frame of mind. I love everyone, and its never taken me being afraid of 'GOD' to love people.
I like it when I hear "more Minchin" it means I'm going to check out your channel.
Since its the holiday season, you might enjoy his more serious song, White Wine In the Sun. My fav Christmas song. Enjoy!
He's just as amazing live, just him and the piano.Seen him several times.
He is a bloody genius.
Got to check out "The Good Book," "Pope Song," "Ten Foot C*ck and a Few Hundred Virgins," and "White Wine in the Sun" if you want a more serious song by him. His 9 life lessons graduation speech is rather meaningful too. That's worth a watch
Tim is famously atheist/agnostic. So yes, these are his true beliefs..and he is definitely a genius, anyone getting offended by his work needs to take a long hard look at themselves..lol
Please do Dark Side (awesome version). It showcases his piano skills. You’ll love it.
One of my favourites by Tim. Love the whole set up with Sam before just pulling it all apart with over the top sarcasm.
Others to check out:
If i Didn't Have You,
The Pope Song,
Darkside - awesome version,
The Good Book,
You Grew on Me.
Or anything by Tim 😂
Oh love your insights, thats why we watch reactions 👍
Yes must be the longer version of If If Didn’t Have you - where he tells the baby joke 😂
@@Dr_KAP definitely
3 words: The Pope Song
Tim Minchin didn't just burn him. He placed him in the oven, turned it up to 500 degrees and cooked him alive! LOL
fwiw mate it's obvious that you're super smart. I've put live comics off because I laugh before everyone else, and I see the same in you. It doesn't take you 2 seconds to process something, you get it much faster. Genius... well... genius is more related to accomplishments than potential (imho). You can be a genius football player, a genius musician. But you need to not just have the talent, but use it!
I suspect Tim qualifies.
Ross Noble is a comedian from northern england (Newcastle), famous for insanely inventive and surreal improvised shows, well worth a look if you haven't experienced him
His wild hairstyle is as much a part of his stage persona as Tim's, too.
The 'take a break from giving babies malaria' reminds me of Ricky Gervaise's 'What is an Act of God' joke - "Oh no, that wasn't me. I was in Africa that day giving aids to babies"
Hey Zack, this was an awesome reaction. If you continue to follow Tim's music, you will experience an extremely talented man. Tim is really hard to pigeonhole, but you can probably guess his stance on organized religion. However, Tim is outspoken on other social and societal conundrums, so I guess it's fair to say that Tim is more of a disrupter of the norm, than a hater of any particular practice or ideology.
If you can put up with his bucking the system style, you will find many pearls of musical (and intellectual) brilliance in Tim's work.
Well put!
Another vote for the Pope Song!!!!
Probably the best reaction I’ve seen of this song, and I’ve seen them all!! I hadn’t even noticed how many subtle references there were to the “ocular” - and yes these are very much his views, Tim has done shows with Dawkins, one of his biggest fans, his atheism and criticism of the Catholic Church are common themes in his early works. Thanks ❤ shout out to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra!
You saw it many times but you didn't see? Also... the bonus is that "the eye" is the core focus of the Blind Watchmaker. "How could an eye evolve, it's like a 747 appearing in a field".
@@jeremykothe2847 who knows. I’m half blind so I don’t see a lot 😆
@@Dr_KAPthe one eyed man is king.
Hey, to be honest, I've seen it many times also and didn't clue in to it. Mea Culpa. Even if the man pre-watched this, props to him for "seeing" it.
Cont. Is absolutely brilliant. There’s only audio on UA-cam. Just hear him out is all I can say 😆
Haha, I love cont. but yes, it does need to come with a prior warning to completely hear him out and pay attention to the message and what he's actually doing with the song. Lol.
Hi.. So glad you like Tim Minchin. I think he's fantastic not just the comedy but the genius behind everything. He played Judas in "Jesus Christ Superstar" so awesome. My favorite lines in this song are "A mass delusion, 'The Emperors New Clothes' style fear of exclusion" & " it couldn't be the misdiagnosis of the initial condition" just brillant❤❤❤😅✌
Yes, he’s an entertainer and wants to make people laugh but it strikes me that Tim also wants to challenge how people think. Of all the reaction videos you have provided the most in-depth dive into this performance. Well done Zack!
The man is ridiculously intelligent. Pause as much as you want. Lmao
Ross Noble is from the north of England and that's probably what he's referring to. But Ross also moved to Australia so it could easily have been a gig in Aus.
"He probably gets in a lot of trouble in conversations"
Dude, add 'Storm' to your reaction list. It's basically that.
Tim says that in reality he is not usually like that. That's the beauty of art. You can express things that you might not usually say to someone, even though you think it. Storm and Sam are both avatars. He creates arguments so he can tear them down.
I'm not a Christian, but Minchin was referring to this text.... about being hit by a revelatory idea -a bright one with an underlying penalty. It also points to a less than helpful God - ironic in the context of Sam's story.
On the road to Damascus, Saul was struck by a brilliant light, fell to the ground, heard a voice from heaven identified as the voice of Jesus asking, “Why are you using violence against me?” and ended up blind being led by his companions toward Damascus (Acts 9).
Ross is a honorary Australian
When you’ve been here long enough your one of us
North Queensland
It's a samba!
I will never apologize for being right hah
Darwin, Cairns, many other cities and towns are scattered all along the Northern Territory in Australia. A few million live in the north.
Love his work ❤
Ross Noble is from up North in the UK - he has lived in Oz because of his wife.
Genuine question my eye had surgery a few years ago cud they fix it if I fucked it up again I've been super careful
Gervais said it best:
If you believe in one God and I don't believe in any, we both DON'T believe in pretty much the same number of the 3,000 or so gods that have existed
Please do more Tim Minchin reactions! Others have given you fantastic suggestions already, I'll collate a few:
Pope Song
Come Home Cardinal Pell
Inflatable You
10 Foot C**k and a Few Hundred Virgins
Dark Side
Phil Daoust
Some people Have It Worse Than I
Dark Side
If I Didn't Have You
But yeah, pretty much all Tim's stuff is solid gold!
He's "taking the piss" as aussies say
Means he's showing Sam is a fool.
We are very sarcastic & love irony.
The incredible theatrical music sows how he ended up writing the music & lyrics for the musical Matilda. Andits also now a movie with Emma Thompson. Tead his Wikipedia page
despite all the times i have watched this... I didnt notice how many sight-based puns he makes before the song really gets going
The Pope Song. :) from Him If You dare eeheh!.
When you're in Australia, almost everyone and everything else in the world is "Northern"
When the music starts it always reminds me of something that sounds like it would be on south park tbh 😂
Zack, I’d love to see you react to Tim Minchin’s ‘Dark Side’ (Awesome Version).
Now that you ‘get’ his style of storytelling, comedy sarcasm, truth, lyrical mastery, and musical genius, just sit back and enjoy his skill on the keys.
Ross Nobel is from northern UK 😂❤
You don't need to apologise for pausing. That's good!
Agreed. Sometimes it's annoying when a reactor talks over the video while spouting whatever inane stuff pops into their head. But the very best reactors do it like Zack. Pause the video, but only when they have something insightful to contribute. This is why I especially enjoy these channels.
I've seen countless reactions to Sam's Mum. This is the first time I really became aware of just how many ocular references Tim stuffed into this performance. Kudos to Zack for a masterful reaction.
Tim lived in the UK, so this show was probably there. Ross Noble is from Newcastle in the north of the UK.
You’ll love his song Storm!❤
I did that I think
10:15 LOLLLLLLL, i fully agree, if you don't know what's coming, you expect alot of praise for the divine, a true ode to god. That fantasy soon gets broken hard though xD
Great reaction, Tim is an absolute genius. And he does to a (beat poem) called storm about him speaking his mind at a party which is another great one. Also the pope song is another great one.
"White Wine in the Sun", a more serious song, but beautiful - One of Australia's Xmas songs, along with Paul Kelly's "Making Gravy". Ross Noble is British, married to an Australian.
I always thought it sounded like Carribean music.
Even if you’re a Christian, you can’t take offence at this. It’s a masterpiece of dissecting a ridiculous argument for God.
❤
You are WAY CLOSER than you think with the Family Guy reference!!
Both Tim Minchin and Seth MacFarlane are heavily influenced by a ton of the same sources
You need to check out Seth MacFarlane singing "My Way"
Ross noble is a "northern" as in northern England
you could do with listening to 'tony the fish' and storm they nicely sum up his attitude towards wooo
Ross Noble is married to an Aussie, but he's not one. Absolutely love his comedy though!
Ross Nobel is Irish as Irish gets lol
Ross Noble is from the UK
21:50 i had the same thoughts hehe:)
Ross Noble from north Uk hence norhener
"with commonly curable lens degeneration"!
😂😂😂😂😂
I'm an atheist, but Jesus had some good things to say, and this is about people using Jesus as an excuse. You should be more disappointed is the type of people he is singing about.
The pope song a great one
He sing entertaining speaks facts
Yes he doesn't believe we should all thing alike
But don't exspect him to with hold his views either
That's when he has a issue a typical Aussie
Your allowed to believe in what you want and so are we
He does another one where he's at a family dinner from memory
Tries to be good 🙈🙊🙉
buy not argue but things happen it's funny as
Lullaby is a classic for anyone with kids or having them
He wrote this after he's first kid
Cheers mate just keep being you and enjoy 🦘🇦🇺👍
Pause and reflect. Do your thing, brorher.
Edit: misspelled brother... :(
I believe it’s a Samba
Look up George Pell /Tim and you will see how he feels about the church
😂😂😂✌
If you haven’t listened to Storm it’s soooo good
Did a reaction to it
@@zack_reacts looking for it now 😁
Ross, northern England.
Please react to his song Lullaby ....
He is from the north of England . I think he married an Australian girl
People live in northern Australia 😂
I know
Please react to his song cardinal pell. Imo one of his best for us cult Christian school survivor's.
Love how you are paying so much attention to the lyrics...but, tbh, it was hard to me to be really focused on your reaction, I mean, what am I supposed to watch? You? Tim? Robert Downey jr? The multiple landscapes in that frame? Too much for me at that time of the evening!! 😵💫😂
You'll be saying "om-ni-po-tent op-thal-mologist" in your head for a while now.
Did you say he BACKDOORED
Sams Mum???
How do I show send support?
Think you are very astute at Tim. Or TIMMY as he would be on South Park
Love to send ideas and OVER DO IT!!
Tim is never seen for how he SITS- is he comedy? But can’t move? So Carlin sitting still with a piano not a banjo? Tim is GOD. He does get in trouble as STORM showed. Wanna see him KILL Jesus- JCSS Broadway. Amazing as Judas. I think you say CHOPS.
Hope to see hear more soon!
You are good at your reactions to Tim. At least I have enjoyed it
(Inflatable you- punch line 1st line
Mitsubishi Colt- last line for punch line)
And his stand up- his ‘Ted talks’ segments. Yes his piano skills.
Just choose the red brick not the yellow brick road and we will have fun
most intelligent people get in trouble with the dull witted. But, most intelligent people don't really care if the simple cant appreciate an actual thinking person.
In case it hasn't been answered, pretty sure Tim is an atheist.
Yeah I could gather that 🙂
Glad you paused it every 10 seconds
Yyoooouuurre welcome!!!
Tim has no problem with people being religious he believes everyone has a right to their beliefs but they don’t have the right to push their beliefs on others. “I’m a Christian so why don’t you believe in god Tim? If you want evidence I’ll give you evidence!”
Ok I’ll take your evidence and dissect it shall l?
It’s called humour and Europe and Australia have a similar sense of humour where we kind of insult each other to make people laugh. I think you understand that but I’m also aware that American humour/humor can be kinder and just a bit different.
you should pause it more......coz that shit never fucks up the flow of a song
You should click the link below where you can watch uninterrupted. I will do reactions how I see i fit on MY channel. Thanks for stopping by!
Never seen someone misread this song so badly
3.5k views, and one negative comment. How's your channel doing brother. You having fun with your negativity and life. Do you feel better now?
@@zack_reacts fragile much?
Notice I didn't make any personal comment about yourself, just voiced an opinion over you misreading a song.
But this supposed only negative comment has upset you so much you've made false assumptions about me.
@@jamespicksley5781 lol I'm fragile? Yet, here you are back on my channel. I asked you a question. Nothing personal about that- pending how you answer. You don't need to though, you already did. Move along.
@@zack_reacts lmao, you're clearly very fragile as your responses have shown.
Yes I replied to a comment, that's generally what happens in a conversation. Didn't think something as basic as that would evade you.
You made personal assumption of me being negative, which couldn't be less true. So to answer your petulant question, I didn't have anything to feel better about.
But if you get this touchy over anyone voicing a view that isn't 100% positive I'd suggest you're projecting your own internal negativity outwards.
In which case I hope you deal with whatever issues have left you like this instead of acting like an arse towards potential viewers.
The funniest bit is you say "you're back here on my channel" as if that's a point, then follow up by saying "you didn't answer my question" 🤣
So you were expecting what, me to answer the question without coming back to respond? Try thinking before you speak.
James I am with you on this what Zack needs to do is watch “The Pope Song” to understand what religion means to Tim or NOT mean.
Take a break from giving babies malaria,
And pop down to your local area...
This entire song is making fun of everything youre trying to point out as 'facts'
Hes an athiest, making fun of people who believe in god. Boom, i just explained tim to you.
Yep if the "Christian God" exists it is truly evil and sadistic.
To have ultimate power and just sit back and watch all the needless suffering and do absolutely nothing!
(must be a hell of a show to watch)
…..you interrupt too much and always at the wrong time
the Damascus road is litterer the road that goes to Damascus. per the bible Saul meat Jesus (post death) one the the Damascus road, converted to a believer, changed his name to Paul, and basically founded Christianity as we know it.
A Damascus road experience refer to having a religious experience that changed your mind and converted you to Christianity.
but, there is no such thing as spontaneous remission. that is GOD fixing it. even when it is an atheist that did not know they had the problem until after it went into remission.
Why, why do Americans have so much trouble talking about atheism. You got quite muddled there. 🦇
I'm not at all religious and have no problem talking about anything. It certainly isn't an 'American' thing. It's an- I'd rather not say something that may offend someone- thing, as a lot of people who watch my channel may be religious. Not sure why you're arbitrarily blanketing discretion as 'American.' Americans are all very different. Few things can be called 'American' as a generalization without sounding ignorant.
@@zack_reacts yes my apologies. I watched a few more of your reactions and I realise it is just the way you talk regardless of the topic.
@@seagull01-cp8pb Yes I do talk 'like an American' hahah no apology necessary. I appreciate you giving my channel a shot! Much love!
@zack_reacts if someone gets offended that atheists exist they have more problems
