I have a question,I bought a go kart for my husband and it originally had a thin belt on it, the owner put the same size belt on with a thicker size and when we turned it on it immediately took off and almost killed us all. I found the correct belt and plan on using your video to guide me.. but im terrified, after fixing the belt and having slack do you think it will not take off with a mind of its own?

Do you know how the belt gets shredded? I replaced my belt 2 days ago and today the new belt got shredded somehow. How do i prevent it

Typically it shreds that fast if you have a bad clutch. Without seeing it I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure but I would lean towards replacing the clutch.
