Since I discovered her, I loved her. I identify with her and her hard life as it has been mine. Her conquest for independence. Her free spirit. Her perseverance. Her designing lines. Her classy feminine/ masculine creations. Thanks for this great documentary and for your channel🌷
Having read 4 books about her, I still learned more. She was a genius and the modern woman owes her thanks. She was also a cruel person who's politics are antithetical to higher ideals. Truly a thumbnail of paradox. Her art was and is sublime.
Where would the modern world of fashion be if we hadn't had Coco Chanel designing her timeless silhouettes, jewelry and perfumes ? A fascinating, intelligent & legendary woman .
I love Chanel jewelry. I noticed in one of the photos that she had layered a different necklace with her pearls. I love that idea! She was so innovative in her style! 👍😄
I adore Chanel. She was her time ahead and liberated women from corsets. She is an example for women who can be successful entrepreneurs as she was.👏👏❤️
Someone who's life history serves as an inspirational example for hard working people. To acquire a brand name that is associated with her persona and people is a legendary achievement, without any doubt! Thank you for sharing the video.
I’m a seamstress, I absolutely love her fashion design, I’ve read many book on her life. She made such an impact on women’s fashion. I gave my dog, a Carin Terrier, her name is Coco Chanel.
The most inspiring woman of all times, reflecting simplicity n royalty , giving to all women to be, to reflect presence within..she is a tressior forever , with deep thanks to Chanel 💞💞
Oh I wouldn't quite say that . How about Eleanor Roosevelt m Queen Elizabeth, both 1 and 2 , , Queen2 Victoria, many other women were influential. Chanel was soinfluentjial in fashion, but I think she'd hate all the skin tight pants women wear today, and the demise of underwear, hats, gloves , dresses , and refined sexuality. Just my opinion.
She was very beautiful and I suppose she had to do what she had to do to keep her business. I love her rags to riches story and how she made hats and then went on to be one of the most successful fashion designers in history, she done it her way and her success was well deserved. Great video.
Wow that was a super Indepth ( yet short and sweet) biography of Madam Chanel. I had no idea she was raised in an orphanage. WHAT a formidable woman.!!! And this year 2022 marks one hundred years of Chanel no.5 !!! Thank you #FashionHistorySessions!!! Love your Channel !!!
I think there could only be one designer like Chanel to this day that made such an impact on how a woman of class and elegance and style should look. I am a devotee of her senc
To complete my comment about Chanel as a devotee of her not only her sense of style but the quality of choice of fabrics impeccable tailoring and accessories footwear purses etc. true super expensive but would rather have one of hers than ten of ready to wear.
@@lilymaniquis8460 and her moto : Fake jewels so you, ladies, can wear them during the day Time as well. And you are not afraid to lose them.. because it's only fantazy. (That suits your dress).
She was an outstanding person with her own vision of style. She brought a new aesthetics in fashion making revolution in clothes design. Her ideas and vision have made a huge impact on fashion world remaining actual and popular nowadays.
Chanel is my favorite designer of her day. Ralph Lauren is my favorite modern day designer though his family run his business. Chanel was so ahead of her time & she thought outside the box. She was after comfort & style, which I love. I don't honestly care for her styles when she came back to Paris.
She's was a fighter , i love her approach , as a designer maybe cause I'm not that fully developed , my style hasn't been established i love that she really changed how women dressed providing comfortability and still making the look elegant , i love that she played with shapes , love the round neck , she was smart , i sometimes wonder what all these artists would've done today in this world that we live in , they all judt had things to prove , points to make, and stood their ground , especially her as a woman, the bravery of this women is incredible she's a true inspiration , may she rest in peace.
What a brilliant woman! So inspiring. The documentary shows how it is indeed all about spirit. Coco herself alludes to that in her interview with the American journalist. She has created a victorious spirit, a triumphant beingness for the woman. For every woman for that matter as everyone, rich or poor, can create that style thanks to Coco Chanel.
Historically established many years ago...the house of Chanel brings us what was original from the beginning..style clever marketing with the Chanel no5 and a sense of being classic couture.. Being a fiercely independent woman bought wealth to remain so until Coco Chanel's death in 1971...and the legacy carried thru with Karl Largerfeld until his death no so long ago..thankyou for this over view such a reminder to us all that hard work and a strong passion pays off.
@@mariapasos7482 It actually does. Chanel opened the Deauville shop in 1913 and this is where she first made casual clothes. (She was forbidden by law to make clothing in her Paris shop because there was already a dressmaker in the building.) In 1915 she opened her third shop in Biarritz in southwestern France. It is here that she began to make haute couture clothing. So it is significant because it shows the timeline of Chanel going from being a milliner to being an haute couture designer.
Merci. What a life. What a legacy. The House of Chanel must always honor her creations, and I trust that Virginia Viard will do that in a superb collaboration with the history of Coco, just as Lagerfeld did. Subscribed 🌸👒
great tribute and love all of her drawings and sketches, after all that's the beginning of what was to follow, for all of her sense of wordly value of hopes and dreams went into her streamlined fashion line, a woman ahead of her time, she put her soul, love and spirit into her designs
Thank you so much! It takes a lot of time to put these videos together, and I find it very difficult to find time to do so. You're comment is very encouraging!
I love Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld..both geniuses. Virginie dies not have that glamour like Karl....her collection is always boxie, big and loose. Lacking that coutour look. My advice is buy up on anything by Karl...you won't see this elegance again!!
Thanks for the deeper understanding of her association with the Nazis. I think this part of her legacy is often overlooked or ignored altogether in lieu of her brilliance as a designer. I was also completely unaware of her business arrangement regarding her perfume line!
What a classy wounderful independent talented woman and the name lives on and has lived on for years and years and years cheap perfumes come and go and are usually awful so that's why good perfumes are very expensive you paye for quality
She may have become independent but the men in her life helped her a lot, financially and with contacts. And she was lucky to have acquired her sewing skills and hat-making knowledge from childhood. She was extremely chic but like the Duchess of WIndsor, no great beauty, and this is a great lesson in life, to make the most of what you've got. Being slim does help to look chick and good in clothes, I've noticed all the chic French ladies tend to be not just slim but very slim.
She was not the most beautiful woman, not a natural beauty, but the hats and clothes she designed, along with her costume jewelry and perfume made her elegant and glamorous, with great sex appeal. Her clothes worked with a woman's body. I also love the color black. It's a great color to accessorize with. Also, her make up and hair coloring, deep brunette or black (natural when she was young and dyed when she was older) was very flattering. She will always reign Queen of the fashion world, even though she's dressing the angels now.
Simplicity in clothing, design, fabric, embellishments, and style attitude brings a depth and wealth of philosophy that, when adhered to and successfully articulated means one will stand out iconically. That makes truth beautiful and beloved. MOJ..,ITNOJ
