It'd be good to know, just out of curiosity, what is warranty work and what's not. In this case, it's hard to imagine the fault for this issue being laid at the customer's feet, but out of warranty manufacturer's often don't care.
Something like this would be covered if the car is within the warranty period, this one was covered. It's the same with any product be it a TV, microwave, washing machine etc. warranty has to stop somewhere whether the fault is the owners or not. At the end of the day, things go wrong and things break and you can't expect someone else to pick up the tab every time shit happens.
Nice job mate. Always good to see a pro at work. Don’t suppose you know what fuel pressure a 2014 MG3 should run at ? Clutching at straws with my one not running.👍
Fuel pressure should be 3.5 - 3.9 bar. If you've got spark and fuel thn I'd be checking the valve timing. The pre 2016 mg3 are notorious for slipping the timing chain.
We come across one recently that we thought was initially a gearbox leak, when infact it was a core plug on back of engine had somehow worked its way out and was spraying oil everywhere, engine still works all be it very rattly now lol.
I've had that on a transit recon engine. Fired it up after putting the engine in and it pissed oil out of the bellousing. Core plug at the end of the oil gallery came out.
Nice job mate, not something you’d see every day for sure 👌🏻
You use the same clutch alignment tool as me😂
Thank you for the great videos. I have a New MG3 2024 Core Nav 4 speed Auto, do they have a CVT. Thanks for Brisbane Australia.
No idea, we only have the manual version in the UK.

Is this the first case you have seen? Should of MG used a locking washer from the factory to stop this from happening?
I've seen one other one where the bolt came out but it didn't do any damage.
Steve, we won't ask how you know you can crack the fuse holder by using an impact rachet. Good job on sussing out a pretty unusual failure.
I woudn't know what you're talking about 🤣
So Steve, if it's known that those bolts can work loose, why aren't they loctited at the factory?
Although they can come out, it's not massively common. In nearly 6 years. I've only seen 2 where the bolts have come out.

@@pistonbroke In my memory it was an MG3 but was actually a Hyundai i20.... not much difference between em engine/box wise mind you lol.
