Been bing watching some of your vids. I have a suggestion for St Pats day..how about some Irish punk rock? Flogging Molly - What's Left Of The Flag (Official Video)
This song changed my life, I heard it last year in October and since then I've gotten into therapy, diagnosed and regulated. This really moved me to finally get up and see the changes i have been hiding
You don't have to do your homework to listen to TOOL, but it helps. 46&2 refers to the evolution of the human body. Currently, humans have 44 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes. It's said that the next phase of human evolution will include 46 autosomes and two sex chromosomes. It was a concept first introduced by Carl Jung.
@actsActually, 46 and 2 are numerological references. "The number 46 stands for self-determination and self-sufficiency, and personal ambition" and "The number 2 represents the emotional imbalances, anxiety and fear, and depression that cause one to withdraw from taking action in their own life." When he refers to his shadow, he is meaning the psychological terminology for Shadow. - "In Jungian psychology, shadow might refer to two different concepts. In one sense, the shadow includes everything in the unconscious mind, good or bad. In another definition, the shadow might include only the part of the personality that you don't want to identify as self but is still a part of your unconscious mind.." The song is basically about how he is holding himself back with his habitual behavior, depression, and poor choices.
STAX!!! I am loving the Tool reactions, you are very intelligent, you were so spot on! I'm sure you'll see all the comments about the actual meaning of the 46 and 2 part. I didn't get the meaning most my adult life and then had to be told! Keep 'em coming, so satisfying!
One of my favourite Tool songs!! It came out during one of the hardest moments of my life, it got me thru. (This whole album, but specifically this song.) 🔥🔥🔥 I always love hearing what youve got to say about the music, you're very insightful 🤍
There’s a video of some kids from O’Keefe Music Foundation doing this song. It’s also quite impressive. You should do a reaction to that version, as well
Great reaction brother, loving your tool reactions. You gotta check out vicarious its an amazing song with very confronting lyrics. Keep at it bro ya killing it 🤘🌀🌀🤘
@@StaxReactsThere is drum cam video of Danny Carey playing Pneuma from a Tool concert out on UA-cam - Danny is wearing a #33 tee. Double the reason for you to watch that.
Yeah stax go on with your journey to the tool universe. The last time a band hit me so hard like tool was last year when i discoverd a band called villagers of ioannina city from greece. They've got a live gig called live from athens on you tube. When i saw it, it was so overwelming i had not only goosebumps, and tears in my eyes no it was like a out of body experience
as usual you are right on with the lyrical content. a lot of people point to the psychologist Carl Jung (pronounced Yung) who said we all have a shadow self inside us that represents that dark side and that to become our full self we have to accept that dark side and control it. it's something like choosing to be an angel because that's what is right, but having the abilities of a devil because it's sometimes necessary to survive or to protect your loved ones. so in this song he's turning inside to the darkness to come out stronger, and this is a theme you hear from Maynard a lot because it applies to addiction, losing family, growing older, many things in life. next recommendation probably Hooker with a Penis but this whole album is fire you can't go wrong.
A great one! My favorite from TOOL is "Jerk Off" from their first album, Opiate. "Jerk Off" is very cathartic and one of my favorites to scream along with.
I typed TOOL reaction in the search bar. Then chose search today only. Your video should have been first thing at the top. I had to scroll through a bunch of crap that had nothing to do with TOOL, to find this video. ...just letting you know.
@@StaxReacts Agreed. It had been up for 7 minutes when I scrolled down and found it. I just assumed it should be the first thing there. But this is a common occurrence. I often put tool in the search bar and have to scroll way down to find videos that were posted hours before my search.
@@StaxReacts speaking of beats. I noticed you’ve thrown in Pharcye. I saw Tribe, de La… there’s not a lot of reaction content in that genre. You have a good reaction to first time listens that are on point and on groove. Plus, you loved Intergalactic. Ima hit you up for request next time hip hop comes up. For the present show, I gotta finish this reaction. This song is killer.
Great stuff man! I bet people will still be listening to Tool a hundred years from now. If you haven't checked out any System Of A Down, they are another great rock/metal band. I recommend their song "Toxicity." Keep crushing it!
the song is all about Jungian psychology and genetics. currently the human genome is comprised of 44 trait genes and 2 sex genes. 44 + 2. a lot of the genetic code contained in the 44 trait genes is old, useless, throwback stuff from humanity's early evolution that we no longer need. Some people believe that the unused "junk" dna will one day begin to spontaneously rearrange itself into code beneficial to us, and that it will lead us to an enlightened state of being when additional genes are added from the now rearranged junk dna... 46 + 2. Maynard is just using Jungian psychology and his awareness of shadow material as a vehicle for his evolution to a more enlightened human. It's a great song.

My ring light is my biggest opp🤣🤣🤣
2:20 pretty much, the song is about ego death.

Not only the best Tool song but one of the best song ever written. The build up is insane.

Its a rather cryptic way of saying "I am my own worst enemy, but I am recognizing it, and want to change for the better"
