Just run in strafe them (circle them) whilst hitting. If u prefer combos aim for their legs (servers register lower body hits better then upper body) when they go to hit u block hit and that should reduce damage and knockback. That will start ur combo then just move side to side whilst hitting their legs sending them back and reducing amount of hits they can get.

One of the best PvP guides I've seen so far, no doubt that this will really help out new PvPers. There's a couple of other stuff that could have been added like when to block and when not to, the usage of sneaking in face-to-face combat, don't fight while walking backwards, using movement to stay outside of the enemys line of sight etc, though I understand one cannot put everything in one video. Hey! The Left+Right clicking (also known as clawing) is good in close quarters, but not good when chasing. The reason is because when you claw, your sprint breaks, and you buy the opponent some time. Just a nice tip there.

@Dennis Ly This is for The Hunger Games more. Scrolling is really good in HG but in Factions PvP its not really. When you get into enchanted Diamond stuff, Scrolling isnt the option. Strafing is.
what i do is i have my sword in my 1 slot and compass in my 9 slot then all my soup in my other slots and when im abouts to engage into a fight i switch out my compass for soup so i have that 1 xtra just to help out :D also another great tip when climbing a ladder u can hit ppl while climbing it and if they r above u they stand no chance u could probs knock them off or just keep hitting them and they cant hit u but if they do hit u it counts as a crit so be careful if this tip helps u like this!
2 extra pro tips: Go around enemy when you are on ground like spin around enemy and keep hitting he won't see where you go then and crafting armor do leggings and helmet at same time and do chestplate and boots at same time
nice vid accouly i think flint and steel is better than lava buckets cause on servers the lava glitches and disappers and flint and steel is ez to use and they cant just block the fire and make it so u cant use ur flin and steel
also in mc-hg.com its good to use the rider kit because ppl can barely hit u(It takes alot of training to kill someone while on a horse but its ok because its harder for them to hit u :D

You are correct by the part that if someone is running up a hill the person who is chasing can easily hit them, but you're wrong because the person who is above ground may take more hits, but they could still hit the other person and they could go flying back and take fall damage. Or, you can suprise them by jumping down to their level and start fighting them and maybe hit them off to take more fall damage and most likely start running, or they will die.
On the server I play they sell OP armor for 500 money each piece and swords for 200, 500 or 700, each have different abilities and you can get the said money by voting (500$ per day) or getting a job like hunting, assassin, miner, blacksmith etc..
If you're on a steep hill, high ground is better because you can knock them away and get that fall damage. This (of course) is only for people that can aim xD
so I'm not sure if this Vido will help me get better at PvP this is kind of like how you survive but at the end is the only part of the Vido helped me a LOT at PvP
You should set up a server like this only iron armour and food so we can test our pvp skills like ./kit starter full iron , iron sword and stack of food no op apples just full on pvp it would be awsome great video guys
And also. People have different hot bar setups. I use hotkeys cuz they are faster. I always have slots 1-9 sword, bow, enderpearls, potions, potions, potions, golden apples, and arrows so I see how many I have( if I have infinity enchant I don't have arrows and I replace the last one with more potions) enderpearls and alchemy is how real pvpers play this game.

I am confused as to why you decided to jump over the person, that is no counter, a better way to counter the downhill is to strafe, which doesn't give fall damage. Also, if you jump over them, they can hit you in mid-air doing the standard sword damage, but also the person will hit you up, giving additional fall damage, which in an intense, close fight, you can't afford to loose that health unnecessarily. Just something for you to think about. :)
this is not fucking killer instinct, there is no such thing as a critical combo, you have to jump once to get one critical hit so that isnt really a possibility as you have to continuously be in the air to get crits

If you right an left click, yes it does reduce damage but it makes you more vulerable as you cant move to run if things go bad. I would left and right click if you are in a small space like a mineshaft where you can't move around

Also, if the person is running and you get a hit on them, make sure you don't hit them with a block hit because that will slow you down. But if something does go wrong while you are right and left clicking, you could always stop and run like you would if you're just regular left clicking.
Well,in my opinion,block-hitting can actually save your life even in wide-open ground. Say you and your opponent are trading requal hits and are down to 2 or 3 hearts,block hitting can help to tilt the odds in your favour. I use it like this: Charge in at the opponent,jump just before contact,click as fast as you can while block hitting in the air as you land a crit on him.You will most likely be left half a heart and your opponent will be dead. It also works if the both of you are strafing each other but can only land a hit once every 5 seconds. Just charge straight in and jump-block-hit as he strafes you.You will get more damage than just strafing and take less damage at the same time. This scenario is hard to explain,so I apologise if it is unclear.

plus being in the air with enough momentum will give your opponent the possibility to do critical combos !

the mcpvp hunger games servers are based on the survival games map where you cannot break blocks
