Gotta say I'm Really Loving this Homestead series of videos. ......I have to admit I was a little skeptical of you guys ......getting off the road, But....... WOW this new content is AMAZING!!. THUMBS Way Up😁.
I love the banter between you two. You really love each other. It reminds me of my own youth. We've been married 41 years now. Watching you makes me smile.
The roof turned out so great! I'm so dang impressed. We got a Little Giant Ladder at Costco and it's been awesome for us. Nice and sturdy. Also, Tom Silva from This Old House would have been very happy about you using a template. Nice!
We're finding that pretty much everything in a house has a name or function worthy of an inappropriate jokes 🤣 And omg, a sturdy ladder is something we'll never take for granted again! 100% worth the investment 🪜
Floor looks great, however; you may want to consider the underneath spray insulated as it will help keep the house cooler and less humid in the summer.
I’ve always loved how you guys just go for it and aren’t afraid to just try and learn! Some of these commentators are real a-holes about it, though. Just know the rest of us have nothing but love for ya!
Don't read to much into this because the last time I built anything, it was a birdhouse 50+ years ago, but I think you guys are doing an amazing job!! It's fun to watch, too!
I feel like there’s a “they’re eating the pets” joke in there. 😂 I don’t know anything about building a house, so I’m just gonna watch for the entertainment and y’all are certainly bringing that. The electronics graveyard was hilarious 😆
I don’t know building codes in the area where you are working. This is a tip for your future when you put up drywall. On the ceilings do not have 4 corners of sheetrock meet. Stagger your layout. In some areas, that is part of the code to pass inspection. However, regardless of codes, it's a good idea so that shifting doesn't crack your ceiling. Applause for taking it on.
You guys are so much fun that I even enjoy watching and listening to Eric's sponsored adverts. I'm so impressed with Alison - she does the work of two men!!!!
Everything requires permitting in Texas. This will not end well for them they will have to tear it down. Because there was no building inspector every step of the way.
my understanding is there's some counties without building codes/permits. I watch another channel who mentioned this year's back. I suspect they likely chose one of those counties
You need blocking between every stud and a 45 degree brace in every wall or plywood sheeting to keep every stud wall square. You should be reinforcing every wall before installing rafters. Top plates should be connected to keep walls plumb
Two vids in one week 🤯 loving the progress, kudos to you for fighting through all that frustrations and getting the roof done. The tiny house is definitely starting to take shape!!
I'm so nervous for you! Please tell us this has been permitted and inspected? It would be so sad if had to be taken down. It looks wonderful! You guys are so handy!!!
I think that's why they are sticking with the square footage that they are, because there isn't a permit required for building a tiny home... At least that's what I've been told from other tiny home builder videos that I've watched. I could be wrong, it's happened before lol
It probably hasn’t, then they’ll name a sad video just like they did every other video with the RV. They love torturing themselves for content instead of just doing things the right way.
You two are just amazing and I'm really enjoying this house build. You deserve every credit for taking on what you have and I admire you for it. Well done to you both.
You two are doing awesome. And keep the pins going. Quick tip your ladder is backwards. That's why you fell. Just flip it over and keep the top section closest to the wall.
I felt compelled to come and say you 2 guys are absolutely amazing examples for everyone. Your love for each other shines through on every video and what a fantastic thing to achieve and tell the grandkids in years to come that you built your own home ❤️❤️❤️
Best segment in a while! The "Nail & Stud" bit, the Airplane movie reference " And don't call me Shirley", The electronics graveyard, and Allison blushing like crazy. Such fun to watch. You two are a great team through thick and thin! Please be careful and good luck 🤞!
Whoa! Look at you go!!! Such hard workers. Glad to see you covering up from the sun, too. Looking forward to seeing your continued progress. Thank you!
Brings back memories of building my house on acreage in the woods. I learned my chain saw became my new friend when it came to the ridge beam 28 feet off the ground. Good luck, it will all be worth it.
You are both great examples to younger students, this is why you want to be good at math, geometry, and trig; because you never know if building a home are in your future. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
LOVE the "figure it out as you go" attitude. Im the same way. Ill research and research everything I can about something but when it comes down to it you kind of just have to /do/ it. Actually apply the knowledge you cultivated. Learn through your accomplishments and roadblocks. Best of luck.
So watching this one today I'm thinking how cool and competent the two of you are, as I often do. Then my next thought is, it's awesome, and fortunate, that you two have the confidence that you won't get hurt out in, what seems a bit like, the middle of nowhere in case one of you falls or gets hurt. It occured to me, thinking about falling off of one of the ladders, right before the part where Allison says, "tell them what happened..." Hope your ankle is fine again, Eric. Then a bit later talking about being up on the narrow wood, falling to possible death. Be careful guys. 💕 Loving the adventure, as always! Great job! Looking forward to seeing you in the next one.
It's exciting watching you guys build. Very good videos. Been watching for a few years now. Your video production and especially the editing really stand out. Nice creativity. You two are a good team together, dig the humor.
You got a lot accomplished in this video. I'm sure inside your mind was like the scene from "A Beautiful Mind" with all the numbers on the screen trying to figure out the angles. Very smart workaround 👍
If you're really worried about hurricanes, you might want to invest in actual hurricane ties/straps. They're little metal strips that go from one section of the framing to the next (i.e. floor tied to the walls that are then tied to the roof.
It’s looking so good! Watching this made me realize how much I miss the RV build which is how I originally came across this channel and have been stuck with yall every since 🤣 but I’m loving it and it’s looking sooo good and I can not wait for the next video!
Glad we could bring you RV build vibes! It really does remind us of Clementine days, but on a muuuuch larger scale. The best part about the house build is that we can finally use levels and squares to get everything straight 🙌
You guys rock :) I can't believe the progress since you restored the Clementine. I can see that you have confidence in what you are building, and I love it. Your videos make me feel like maybe I can start building a little house myself. Good job guys!
Oh wow! Good luck with the renovations! Our home is luckily only about 40 years old so most things are similar to modern builds. Working on a 100yo home sounds fascinating but a little terrifying 😅
I’ve watched a ton of building content (but have never built anything myself) and you guys are flying through this and it looks amazing. I think all the trouble and hard work with the RV builds wasn’t for nothing because you guys are skilled af now! I’m amazed and cannot wait to see how your fun style translates to this build. Also I can see that you guys might make a whole little village if you keep going at the rate. You guys have kept your chins up through some tough circumstances and I’m so happy to see a little wind in your sails now. Rooting for you both! ❤🎉
I’m enjoying this build. You’re doing a great job! I know it’s a lot of work, and filming during it has to add more time and frustration, so thanks for still taking us along.
Fun vlog. Hope you have treated the wood for termites.. you don't want it eaten away in a few years! Those sloped beams should rest on something, not just be attached on the side of the vertical beams. They have to carry the roof. Ps. Maybe add Simpson hurricane clips to your roof beams.
Gotta say I'm Really Loving this Homestead series of videos. ......I have to admit I was a little skeptical of you guys ......getting off the road, But....... WOW this new content is AMAZING!!. THUMBS Way Up😁.

And me
My exact thoughts also!
I'm excited for ALL of the shenanigans they do 😂
@@TsunamiKitten56stay turned it looks like fun
You two are doing an incredible job especially for it to just be the 2 of you
agreed!! So fun to watch
Thank you!! It's been a wild ride, but we're loving the challenge 🪚🔨
You’re making good progress. You’re building a house, buy a new ladder.
Horizontal is "level", vertical is "plumb".
I love the banter between you two. You really love each other. It reminds me of my own youth. We've been married 41 years now. Watching you makes me smile.
Glad to hear you're still going strong 41 years in!
Yay! Can’t wait to watch! You guys impress us so much by your willingness to just jump in. And, admittedly, your jokes and shenanigans amuse us, too.

Y'all please wear some eye protection, it doesn't take much to f up your eyesight.
😢
They need ear protection too.
Eric needs to wear work boots with ankle supports.
agree
And constant supervision!
@@katerobertson805your not wrong.
@@katerobertson805he needs lots of things, but I’ll agree with the few mentioned for now.

Great work EA team!

@@cspvideo this is a good advice. Easy to forget
Loving the building of your home. You are both amazing and so enjoyable to watch can't wait for the next video 🏠🏠
I have to say you guys make your ad placements entertaining.
Just wondering, will you require building permits in your county? Looks great so far. I’m enjoying watching this series
Texas has pretty liberal building laws. Cities do have more restrictions, but I think they are in the county.
Looks Great you two. I love the zip system.
Great job! Enjoying the videos. 🙂
You guys are so much fun that I even enjoy watching and listening to Eric's sponsored adverts. I'm so impressed with Alison - she does the work of two men!!!!
I am happy you have the hangers in. Your forecast of hurricane 🌀 wind is the very reason your putting them in. Hurricane hangers!
From pocket holes to nail guns, there's no stopping you two! ❤
You two are kill’in it!
Love my Jackery and solar panels!
At the rate you're going on this house it'll be ready in no time, as opposed to the RV which took forever.
😂
I am so proud of you two look at you just getting after it so fast and making changes. ❤ It!!!
Great fun watching you do all this, well done.
Hey when you nail into the bottom plate or top plate nail close to the stud so you won't hit nails while drilling holes for electrical
We can’t even put up a fence without a permit and here you are building a house!
That’s because they didn’t ask anyone and they don’t know what they’re doing.
Everything requires permitting in Texas. This will not end well for them they will have to tear it down. Because there was no building inspector every step of the way.
my understanding is there's some counties without building codes/permits. I watch another channel who mentioned this year's back. I suspect they likely chose one of those counties
It’s a tiny home I know where we live there are different rules for construction of homes under 500 square feet.
You need blocking between every stud and a 45 degree brace in every wall or plywood sheeting to keep every stud wall square. You should be reinforcing every wall before installing rafters. Top plates should be connected to keep walls plumb

28 feet with a chainsaw?! We're only around 16 feet with a circular saw and that's terrifying enough!
