This is lovely… while I personally couldn’t live this life I totally admire this couple for seeing some land that others would see as trash and they have found a way to resurrect it. The gardens look lovely and it’s amazing how much they already are supplementing the couples lifestyle but her ambition to get it to a much higher percentage is great!

This is fantastic. So proud of y’all for learning on purpose to live w less. A few years ago we gave away 98% of our stuff-three houses worth-and moved into a very small 700’ square (not legit tiny) home. We do have the amenities, albeit no room for a dining table, but we are slowly learning to live without so much, and it is getting to feel so normal and healthy. We have a bit to go, but I see people constantly buying things-so much plastic and so many electronics and so much junk food-and I feel like we have come so far. We did move to a lot that is almost completely as if it is a gravel pit w an inch of top soil on it, full of fleas and rock, so we’ve had to put in raised beds and use whatever rock we dig up to create islands where we use cardboard and then add compost and top it off w mulch to try to at least start somewhere. It took us two and a half summers to get our first zinnia, to be honest, and we celebrated that little flower. It’s been so disappointing, but we are learning as much as we can w full time jobs and all that rock. Next place will hopefully, please the Lord, be more fertile and ready. For now, we are finding farms from which to purchase better food when we can and are getting better at reusing everything we can in whatever ways we can. It’s amazing how much clearer I can think now without all of that “noise” in my mind. Thank you for some really fantastic ideas that we can absolutely use now, even as renters. Coming soon-find some land of our own.

I admire this couple so much. I’ve lived in the city all my life and was never an “outside” person. I would not be confident enough in learning the skills to grow and preserve my own food and to properly take care of the animals who maintain my sustenance. This makes my heart happy ♥My adventure is similar in ways. We became debt free during covid with all those checks they sent out. We lived in Washington state and buying a house there was ridiculous! We started looking elsewhere for a livable fixer upper. We moved in 2023 to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and we love it. We bought a house on almost 1/2 an acre for $23,000 and paid cash. We have lots of plans to become more self-reliant. We also have chickens, 5 hens and 1 rooster which is almost too much eggs for just the two of us but it allows us to sell a couple dozen to earn back the cost of feed for them. Essentially they have paid for themselves. I now work very part-time as a substitute teacher which I love and my husband has retired. However he has tons of things to keep him busy! This makes my heart happy ♥My adventure is similar in ways. We became debt free during covid with all those checks they sent out. We lived in Washington state and buying a house there was ridiculous! We started looking elsewhere for a livable fixer upper. We moved in 2023 to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and we love it.
We bought a house on almost 1/2 an acre for $23,000 and paid cash. We have lots of plans to become more self-reliant. We also have chickens, 5 hens and 1 rooster which is almost too much eggs for just the two of us but it allows us to sell a couple dozen to earn back the cost of feed for them. Essentially they have paid for themselves.
I now work very part-time as a substitute teacher which I love and my husband has retired. However he has tons of things to keep him busy! Stay blessed Copeland Family!
