Good lesson. I have to say, please turn off the delay when teaching scales/intervals. It’s very confusing to have echoes bouncing around when you are trying to listen to an interval pattern.
Clays you sir are the most underrated guitar instructor on you tube…..you concepts are as always, rock solid. I am currently enjoying your rhythm guitar course. Love it…
Ya best I’ve had in 35 years and I grew up in Hollywood. Probably there is people in Hollywood do not want you to get good. They hide stuff and make concepts as difficult as possible on purpose.
His Tonal Transcendence program introduces the 4s tuning. and all this and more sequences and patterns are presented.. That course is GOLD ! using this, I can now play all 12 minor pentatonic patterns on all string pairs (65, 54, 43, 32, 21) starting from both, the 2nd fret, and the 3rd fret and 4th fret on all 6 strings. if you have a 7th string, you can do more in the same frets. Once you get those patterns, easy easy exactly like the one in the video, you already know how to do that Am in an octave up? and octave below. 4s tuning, is AWESOME.. awesome awesome..
Fantastic lesson! Your timing on this video is perfect for me, I was frustrated today by my inability to smoothly move horizontally and then you popped into my feed. Thank you!
this will open the door to slide guitar in standard tuning also works well with scales other than the pentatonic brilliant concept you deserve more views
Thanks Claus , I’m going to do this on the two middle strings and then I’ll go to bottom two and top two. This seems like a really good way to play horizontally. 😎🎸👍
When I learned to play leads it was pre-internet. The only resource I had was records. I fairly quickly learned pentatonic sounds (it was years later I learned they were called pentatonics - I just thought of them as "the good notes"). But I somehow got it into my head that the "goal" was to always play notes 2 frets apart. So the way I taught myself to play a pentatonic scale across 6 strings was to keep moving up the neck every 2 strings. Much later I learned "the boxes" and realized I was covering 3 or even 4 box positions on a single "scale". Even though I know the boxes now, it still feels unnatural to me, and I tend to visualize and plan my movements "horizontally".
I was just thinking to do this lately and then forgot about forcing myself to do it and BAM! This video comes up. Great idea great lesson. Different shapes create different solos and voila, we break out of our rut!
Excellent tutorial! While I can navigate the entire neck with the pentatonic, I tend to visualize the entire pentatonic at each fret position, but your method streamlines the process. I have strong shapes and weak shapes and if I get lost, I go to a strong shape that I recognize. But with your simplified method all the position shapes are easily memorized and now, with very little practice, I don't get lost anymore! Hope this makes sense ! Thanks!
Claus, I can't keep my eyes off that Charvel! Anyway, I like to practice sliding up or down on the middle 2 strings either doing pentatonic/mixolydian ascending or descending, or from the 5th position, sliding up to the 22-24th fret on one or 2 strings then, depending on the note I slide up to, descend down using those 2 middle strings with a little augmented then diminished scale runs! Whew! It's easy 😂😂😂
Weird, non lesson specific note. The thumbnail appears with a red border, and initially I mistook the red at the bottom as being that red line that means I already watched this. Might want to get rid of that. Just a suggestion. Great lesson as always.
Stupid thing about this is when I first started to learn was doing similar stuff totally clueless as to what I was doing someone gave me this word pentatonic got into that and left the neanderthal stuff behind. Unwittingly one day fused the two together and bamm! it opened up the pathways on the board, still on my journey
Check out a guitar instruction book called Blues You Can use - Book 1. There is some excellent information in this book. The author teaches the pentatonic boxes and graduates to using two string pairs to practice the scales.
You know not everyone can learn by themselves or just let things flow easily. Each person is different and some don’t have anyone to show them actually how to play, or learn all the scales and different ways to play or learn. There is no need put down ANY way to learn as long as it is effective to learning. Some ways work for you and not others. You might have started young and others start in their later years, so if you learn guitar easily, might not be the same for others. And trix are too sugary. Have fun playing. And if you don’t play it, it is just a piece of wood!
The clowns crying about breaking out the pentatonic shapes r the same clowns that expect to pick up a guitar and in a week wondering why they don’t sound like Clapton or Hendrix right away 🤷♂️🙄✌️😎🎸🎶

Duly noted

Great, great, great video lesson. Loved this one, very informative.
That's a BEATIFUL guitar! Excellent video too Claus as always!
I really appreciate these sort of easy and impactful lessons.
Glad it was helpful!
Yo this is the best pentatonic lesson that I've ever watched. So noice and simple! Thanks :)
Great concept. I think I’ll rock this for a month as my warm up. Thank you sir.
this will open the door to slide guitar in standard tuning
also works well with scales other than the pentatonic
brilliant concept you deserve more views
Keep it up, Claus 👍
That was such a great tip on exposing out of the boxes I’m stuck in. Thank you
I actually learned something I can use and practice in this particular video...thanks Claus, and hope you and yours are doing well!
That is the coolest Charv I’ve ever seen!
Excellent, Absolutely excellent!😊
Many thanks!
Great lesson I always try to take in too many notes at a time.Or I end up using arpeggios to move diagonal. Thanks for the awesome lesson😎
Great content. I wish someone had mentioned a simple way to play horizontally when I was first starting out..
I wish someone would have taught me this when I was starting out in the late 70s.
Tell me about it...
Thanks Claus , I’m going to do this on the two middle strings and then I’ll go to bottom two and top two. This seems like a really good way to play horizontally. 😎🎸👍
This video so informative, I had to watch it twice!
Thank you Sir 🙏

That is a wonderful amp you got in the back over there!

Very good guitar teacher😁
Thank you! 😃
Great lesson!
Nice, now I suck at improvising horizontally.
Excellent way to get familiar with the neck. I should have known that and practiced that way when first learning. :D thx
Me too...
Man I was browsing by and seen the thumbnail of that guitar and had to take a look at that guitar. I love that blue! That Charvel is beautiful!
Anything to say at all? Yeah... we love you man! Happy Christmas.
Same to you!

This is similar to some of the learning concepts in your Crushing The Pentatonic Challenge course which is phenomenal. Great video.
Awesome. Just what I needed 😎
Glad to hear it!
Great advice. Thanks for the lesson. I think this is going to help me a lot.
Great lesson. But I’ve really got to congratulate you on your latest Charvel.

very interesting
I felt the "one string" solo sounded best
That fender strat is gorgeous , which exact model it is?
It's a Charvel DK24. This particular color is not available anymore.
@@guitarmastery even better
What guitar are you playing Claus? It looks like something I’m interested in
It's a Charvel DK24. Enormous value for money...
