The way I checked our bad battery was by giving the Jeep a jump first. Started it back up and disconnected the negative side, the Jeep stayed on so that let me know it wasn’t the alternator. Got a new battery and no issues since 👍🏼 glad your Jeep is up and running again!
@@Garagecouple I agree but thought it was worth mentioning. I'm a Regional Maintenance Manager/Properties Manager and have been dealing with LED upgrade headaches. Simple LED dimming bulbs need a different upgraded dimmer switch because they don't work with incandescent dimmers. I had a 06 Sport TJ and wiring is definitely outdated to today's JL's. Enjoy the videos, I'm more of a Parking Lot Mechanic 😄
I bought a battery jumper on Amazon that is basically similar to an cell phone charger. My Jeep battery drains itself for some reason once every few months. This battery jumper has saved me so many times!
This happened to me at work. So after changing the battery, I went on Amazon and got me a Beatit jump start box. It's about the size of my cell phone and can start anything from a 7.2L gas or a 5.5L Diesel engine and one charge can do 20 jump starts. I just recharge every six months if I don't use it.
Check your alternator out, I just had the same issue I was going through batteries and it turned out mine wasn’t recharging my battery as it needed. Love the videos keep up the great work.
It's always nice when a simple fix works (although it sucks having to do it in the first place!). I definitely agree with you - a multimeter is required for a Jeep, haha! There are so many uses - testing sensors (with probe leads), testing alternator, testing battery, testing starter, testing parasitic drain, etc. For battery brands, I am a fan of Canadian Tire Motomaster AGM batteries - they are cheap, and hold up great for the cold we get here - not that you guys need them (92F is too hot, haha!).
WHEN YOU SHUT OFF jEEP MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF AC,FAN AND RADIO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE NOT IN THE ACC POSITION WHEN YOU REMOVE KEY, I HAVE THAT PROBLEM WHERE YOU CAN REMOVE KEY WHEN CAR IS NOT IN OFF POSITION. YOU MAY HAVE A PINCH WIRE SOME WHERE ALSO . IF YOU CAN CHECK WATER LEVEL IN BATTERY.
@@Garagecouple That is an old myth - it doesn't do anything in truth. Back when I worked in a parts place for a few months, the owner used to keep his overstock batteries on the concrete and I'd check the charge on them before selling - no major drainage compared to those on the shelf. I used to believe this as well, but I've actually had an old battery sitting on concrete for almost a year - and it still holds charge.
I heard it so many times in my life, maybe it is a myth. Probably from old lead acid batteries. But, It doesn’t hurt anything. I also don’t step on cracks.
I’m looking at putting 37s on my Jeep Tj 02, are there any suggestions as to what I should do as well to getting those? ( I don’t have a lift yet but when I do get one, how much should I go with?)
I know how you feel about a battery dying without warning. Fortunately, you can reach yours my wife's battery is so far tucked in under the cowling that it's not funny. Changed it out and she's ready to go.
Not checking the battery with a multi meter is so misleading for people that are troubleshooting their own issues. What if the issue is a battery terminal? Could have been the alternator. This is why the internet sucks. We have people that are novists acting like experts.
I used a concept of pretest probability to change the most likely cause given my limited time and resources. If it is another issue, there will be a follow up. Cheers

Very cool@
I just bought an ounce of solution finish. Comes next week and can’t wait to try it.
We will compare it to our winner cherakote
Probably all the light mods are pulling power. I plan on getting the OEM upgraded battery in my stock 2020 JL when I install my light bar and a winch.
I mean thats certainly a possibility but its unlikely. Its been super hot out. Over 100 at times. I think that's more likely

Amazing how you are so full of energy after a long work shift . Your videos are great keep up the great work 👍🏻
Thanks for the kind words!

Wow nice! Yeah we could have boost started it since its a standard transmission. Good call!

Sweeeet stuff!
Dr. Jeep fixed it!
Hehe
Its a lot easier to get a batter in and out if you flip the hood all the way back 👍
It doesnt open all the way due to the hood accessories
Check your alternator out, I just had the same issue I was going through batteries and it turned out mine wasn’t recharging my battery as it needed. Love the videos keep up the great work.
Thanks for the tip!
Nice save.... glad it was only the battery with all the new expenses you have with the new house. Cheers!!!
Thanks for the kind words!
You probably left a light on because I always do that 😅 lol
Hehe I've left a light on in the green tj for 5 days and it started right up
@@Garagecouple omg I need a new battery then xD
Our favorite couple is back hope all is good and running smoothly again let me get to watching it
Thank you! God bless

Yes sir!
It sounds like you've gotten the Missouri Mule that has become quite stubborn. Good luck in getting it all straightened out.
Hahahahaha! Cheers God bless
Don’t put batteries on bare concrete. It discharges them fast. Put on that 5 gal bucket till you can get to it.
Thanks for the feedback! Interesting, wonder why??

Hey, isnt that the Los Angeles's VA?!!
Lol! What makes you think that??

Nice! It all depends on your setup, brakes, gearing, control arms, driveshaft, etc. I would go with a 4 inch kit and high clearance fenders
You could have made that battery installation easier on yourself had you put your prop rod down and leaned your hood against the windshield.
Unfortunately not. The light bar on the hood hits the cowl and prevents me from doing that!
Garage Couple Oh, I gotcha. 🙂
I know how you feel about a battery dying without warning. Fortunately, you can reach yours my wife's battery is so far tucked in under the cowling that it's not funny. Changed it out and she's ready to go.
Haha wow! Thanks for making us feel better. God bless
How do you know it's not the alternator and this battery won't be dead tomorrow or in a few days?
Thats a great point! We will find out in a few days lol. We suspect the battery since its old and now its hot out!
@@Garagecouple or you could have gone down to Autozone and known right away, they diagnose for free in 10 minutes and tell you what's up.
Nothing happens in 10 minutes at autozone. The thought of leaving the house after a 14 hour day and 80 hour work week sounds beyond awful yoo
Glad it worked out dude. I missed Aleen in this video . 😩😩😩
Stay tuned for the next one!
Where did you get the Jeep Facemask?
Its from escape the ordinary clothing

Hate to say it. Jeep isn't well made. Ask Scotty Kilmer.
Ooops
