  • Helloooo beautiful people! In this video I am going to be showing you how to get rid of split ends without affecting the length of your hair. I was going to title this video "how to get rid of split ends without cutting hair", but technically we will still be cutting the hair, just not in a way where it would affect its length! WHICH IS AWESOME. Especially if you're trying to grow your hair, or maintain healthy long hair. I hope this video was helpful to you. If you enjoyed comment down below, and let me know :) Subscribe to see more videos!

    As a natural hair care specialist this is NOT to be done in place of getting your split ends trimmed, but as maintenance in between getting split ends cut. Yes, it will help with getting rid of some split ends. But the con with this method is there will be hairs that need clipped that do not poke out due to the winding of the hair. This proves especially true for people with curly hair and with layered hair. Definitely a great maintenance tip though. But NOT a replacement for a real healthy trim that depending on your hair growth, texture etc etc is usually every 3 months to 6 months. I myself trim 2 times a year ( my length is 28") and do maintenance 1 time a month. Keep up the tips and tricks🤗

      I heard that if you use normal scissors for cutting your hair like this even, it can cause the hair to fray and split even more. As you said you are a hair care specialist, ive been dying to know if this is true. I cut my split ends off like shown in the vid but i found that my hair did not improve.

    I’m surprised that someone actually made a video doing this! I’ve been doing it also for a few years because when I’m laying there on my couch playing with my hair I will find split ends and automatically want to cut them.
    I think this works well.

  • @vixxcelacea2778
    @vixxcelacea2778 4 роки тому +30

    I honestly just cut the ends that stick out a little bit to cover my bases. Sometimes the split end is hard to see and it's a lot faster. Also damaged hair doesn't always need to be split yet to still be quite damaged. I bleach my hair so trimming away excess that sticks out with this trick helps a lot and gets rid of not only split ends, but also just dry, damaged and brittle bits.
    I have plenty of times where the ends of my hair bend to a point and are ready to break. They aren't split, but they are broken to the point of just easily coming off with a gentle pull. Things like that are what can travel up the hair because when you have damaged ends, it gets more ratty and harder to brush, encouraging rougher brushing to get them out, which causes even more of then to break.

  • @Stassi_babes
    @Stassi_babes 3 роки тому +14

    The technique is done slightly differently but it’s called dusting. You can request it from your hair stylist if you don’t want to do it yourself. Also, those are hair strands not follicles. Hair follicles are the the individual organs that the root of your hair grows from out of your scalp. It’s what anchors your hair strands to your head. So literally the little holes in your scalp that hairs grow out of are follicles lol

  • @AshaL2377L

    Tbh I go further than that, I section out my hair entirely and inspect literally every piece of hair on my head and chop them, my hair looks fine and it’s very long too. Plus there’s most likely split ends still inside those twists especially if it’s curly like mine so, idk I’d just go all out. And don’t use regular scissors to cut your hair ever. Lol

      hey love! Buy castor oil and run it through your scalp & leave it in your hair for 25 mins! Castor oil promotes hair growth and will help speed up the process for you. I'd also recommend using coconut oil and doing hair masks a few times a week with that as well. Try to avoid using heat on your hair as much as possible. I'd also recommend using shea moistures shampoo and conditioner (they are sulfate and paraben free). Don't worry your hair will grow back sooner than you know (and much healthier). Any other questions, let me know!

      Also, there's a bend on the part where my new hair and old smoothened hair meet.. Originally, my hair's a bit curly.. So that part looks really bad whenever I go out.. So can you suggest me some ways to straighten it without using any heat appliances?

    I'm sorry but this is not accurate at all. Just because some strands are sticking out does NOT mean that they are split ends . It could be layers or just hairs that have grown back or are just shorter . You're going to ruin your hair like this .

    • @lilybetancourt9028
      @lilybetancourt9028  5 років тому +43

      PSA: I THINK I SAID THIS IN THE VIDEO BUTTTT make sure you are ONLY cutting SPLIT ENDS and not every single hair that is sticking out (or else your hair will end up looking choppy). Thank you! :)

    Hey so uhm I wanted to came back and tell you this but it definitely DOES WORK...
    So my hair has so many split ends and people kept telling me about how ugly it was so my insecurity brought me here, later this day I tried it and it took me an hour because I have it all over my hair but it was all worth it because after that, I took a shower and add some oil in it because a hairstylist said that it will work (conditioner/oil) so now my hair’s looking super hot and healthy, so THANK YOU SO MUCH!
