Again, good stuff to know, that rear roller platen height adjustment is golden ! I've got an Oliver 3 to start on this week that need a little of everything
Many thanks for making this video and the detailed instructions on how to tackle the problem. It really helped me in solving it. Keep it up in making more videos like this. Warm regards.
@@phoenixtypewriter2136 I oiled the rollers and adjusted the height of the screw on the back of the platen already on an earlier occasion. So; I filed the stop on the b/s, as you instructed in your video and this did the trick (almost). In the end I did bent the hook of the b/s ever so slightly because it sometimes advanced properly and sometimes did not... I know you did not recommended it to do, but for me it worked out in the end. Again many many thanks for making the video. Much appriciated!!! Keep it up, can't wait for the next one to appear.
@@JVeldt BTW that is "The Vintage Type" video, it's not mine, I was just curious about your results. I watch other peoples video's to learn things too . . . . The Oliver's are quite unique typewriters
For me, mine almost feels like an indexing problem, as though the carriage has a little over-travel instead of being centered. Thus, the backspacer isn't engaging in the right spot. For example, if you put the carriage all the way to the left, you can almost push it over one full notch but not quite. That seems too much.Thoughts on this?

Did you find a direct fixable problem with your b/s issue ?

@@phoenixtypewriter2136 Yes all the credits for "the vintage type" on making the video. Appologies if misunderstood ;-)
No apologies necessary, just glad to hear it worked for you. Thanks for the kind words.

I did all of these adjustments, and filed it down a lot. Spent countless times filing, trying again. Still refuses to work.
Ok, send a video of it working or trying to function. My e mail is info@thevintagetype.com
