    10 Hyde Park Place
One of the smallest houses in London.
    Just over 3 feet wide.
Alleyway behind the door led to the church so grave robbers used it as a passageway to escape.
    Now part of Tyburn Convent.
Marble Arch used to form the gateway to Buckingham Palace but didn’t look right after they enlarged the palace. John Nash designed it.
Only members of royal troop can drive through.
They moved it here in time for the great exhibition in 1850 and it formed a grand entrance which everyone passed through.
1908 and then in 1960s the roads were built isolating it from the park.
Three women are England Ireland and Scotland.
Marble Arch isn’t a police station but sometimes used as an outpost during demonstrations. Mixed up with Wellington Arch which was a police Station.
    Speakers Corner
People had met here to talk and interact for centuries but the reform bill in 1872 designated this area for public speaking.
1999 Lord Justice Sedley said freedom of speech can’t be limited to things which don’t cause offence.
As long as it doesn’t provoke violence.
Karl Marx, Lenin, George Orwell all came here.
    Tyburn Gallows
    First recorded hanging was 1196
Tyburn river passed under here and down to Pimlico from Hampstead.
Triangular gallows meant 24 people could hang at once.
20 000 people came to se Jack Shepard highwayman hanged.
1664 Pepys describes seeing a man he knew hang and 14000 people here.
Condemned would make speeches criticising the church or monarchy. This led to speakers corner.

I remember a story that was going round in the early 50's about an American couple visiting Speaker's Corner and sitting in their car listening to a harangue against the Monarchy. They saw a policeman approaching and expected the man to be arrested for the things he was shouting but he leaned in the window of the car and said, "Would you mind turning off your engine sir, the people can't hear what the man is saying."

Happy to know we weren't the only ones pondering the odd placement of Marble Arch. You can't really tell from pictures that it's entirely isolated and looks like they just couldn't decide what to do with it so left it on a sidewalk.
Love your vids, Joolz; keep up the good work!

Marble Arch is also the start of the important A5 road to Holyhead, North Wales. The A5 was used for the postal service from Dublin, Ireland by stage coach to London and via versa.

Another Joolz Guides gem. I need a thesaurus to find some more superlatives in order to continue to laud Joolz and his" 20 fascinating facts per minute" vids. Thank you Mr. Joolz, I feel I need to just "give in" & get on Twitter only to properly follow you, (as you sometimes sorta/kinda hint at). I guess it wouldn't hurt me that much to start up an acct. I've yet to get back on my FB account to be amongst my brethren that have so smartly drunken the Joolz "Kool Aid". I'm hoping for 3 tours ideally in late spring. I'd push someone in front of a moving cyclist just to get one of your mini kites. AND I like you even more for using a good old, high brow word like "SCUZZY". Bravo Jools.

It is said that the two daughters retrieved Cromwell’s body, no head, that was thrown into a ditch, and took it to St Nicholas Church, Church Street Chiswick W4. The crypt of Cromwell’s two daughters was opened by the vicar in the late 1800`s and a third coffin was found? Due to the notoriety of Cromwell , it was all bricked up and so it stand’s to this day. I was baptised there and grew up with the story. William Hogarth is buried along with his wife in the grounds. His house, which is still standing and open free to the Public is just up the road on the A4.
