  • DIY Shed Exterior Makeover | How to Paint a Shed | Building Shed Doors | She Shed Makeover Tour
    Hey babies! Thank you so much for being here! I'm sharing my DIY shed exterior makeover in this video. Our backyard storage shed was looking pretty rough and it was time to give it a bit of a facelift, which included building new doors. The first thing I needed to tackle was painting the exterior - so I start with cleaning and prepping for paint, which includes power washing, scrubbing, and sanding the shed exterior. I chose to just do a neutral gray color for the exterior paint - linked below. I am a beginner as far as wood working goes, so building these new shed doors was a good newbie project. I followed the old rotten doors as a template for the new ones. I always run into some road blocks with my DIY projects, and this one was no different. I also changed the light fixture and added some hydrangeas for extra curb appeal. I don't know when I'm going to get around to doing something with the interior, but for now it's nice to not have to look at the previous eyesore!

    Exactly the type of video I was looking for, the issues you had and the design of the shed that you have is exactly like the issues I have with my shed and what I have going on in my backyard. Thanks so much for creating this, your shed looks fabulous and soon, so will mine :D

    Looks great! The difference is night and day. My shed is looking like yours before you painted it. When this heat advisory passes and it’s not 110 out I’m hoping to get out and organize and paint.

    Girl you are a rockstar! I could never do a 1/4 of what you accomplished! We ordered a very similar looking shed that should be here any day now. I will be showing it on my channel. I love the light fixture and the plants and mulch you chose. I may do the same plants too.

    Looks awesome! I need to do the same to mine. The doors on mine are rotted out at the bottom. So I think that's a good idea to copy what I have. I also need to jack the back up and place cider blocks to level it. I also like the idea of painting the inside white.. I may make mine half storage half garden shed

    Awesome job! Totally going to do the white trim on the doors im going to add to my shed rehab this winter so thank you for that! I was curious what you did for the inside of the doors, the latch you put on the outside is often used for a short fence that you can reach over to unlock, i was just thinking that it would suck if you went into the shed and say the wind blew the doors shut, you'd be trapped in there, usually theres a hole with a lever for inside use of the latch

    • @MissAnnieB
      @MissAnnieB  Рік тому

      Thank you so much! Glad my vid could give you some ideas :) And you are absolutely correct about the door latch lol. Someone could presumably get stuck in there 😂 But the doors are so heavy, and even a little tight / sticky when you close them, that I'm not too worried about it. I've actually been meaning to do a little more with it to make it more secure / easier to handle.

    Would it be a good idea to place it on cinder blocks to get it off the dirt and prevent rot. Gutters would definitely keep the water off the foundation as well.

    • @MissAnnieB
      @MissAnnieB  4 місяці тому

      Yeah that’s definitely not a bad idea - mine is propped up on cinderblocks which I think has kept the bottom from rotting out 👌🏼

    Nice job! After you applied your grey paint, does it help keep your walls inside pretty dry? I'm building my own shed and was just gonna use OSB on the exterior.

    • @MissAnnieB
      @MissAnnieB  Рік тому

      I don’t think the paint necessarily helped waterproof the inside, just protect the outside wood panels. When I eventually do something to the inside, I do think I do some caulking to keep out bugs and any water :)

    Nice job! I have the same issue with the rot at the bottom of the doors. You did a lot more work than I was planning on doing so now I'm going to follow your ideas. Our sheds looks similar. One thing I noticed is it looks like your doors are falling out a little in the middle. I would get a bolt on the inside to hold the doors closed tight especially since your soffit is not over the door side. A bolt on one side will keep both doors closed real tight. Hard to explain but this guy shows what I'm talking about ua-cam.com/video/n-4-X0eaNiI/v-deo.html. Again nice job.

    Did you use any particular solution or anything in your pressure washer because of the wood material you were spraying onto?

    • @MissAnnieB
      @MissAnnieB  2 роки тому

      I did not - I just used the water pressure itself. It wore it down a little bit, but I really wanted to get as much paint and grime off of it as possible. I wouldn't use full pressure to wash it again now that I've repainted it because it would be too much.

    Miss annie what size is your shed? I'm building a 10x12 and the front wall is the hardest to do cause of lining the doors up with the grooves.

    • @MissAnnieB
      @MissAnnieB  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure exactly but 10x12 seems about right. YES, getting the doors to line up perfectly and close smoothly was definitely tricky. I still need to tweak my doors a little bit to make sure they stay shut tight. Good luck with your shed!!
