I'm not supporting the BBC ever!!!!
If they turn the license fee it into a media tax, you might not have a lot of choice unfortunately.
Stop the amount they're charging and not paying it. @@pixlhound
There be a way round that soon
@@pixlhoundthere be a way around as well
@@pixlhound yes there will. I won't be paying for a gun licence either.
The BBC is not independent, nor are the majority of its presenters.
And I am committed to not supporting the government and the bbc for years to come.
I always vote: "Vote of no confidence"
@@MikeEves I have always believed that Parliament does not represent the typical British person, so I have always been more likely to vote for any party that is committed to bringing in proportional representation. You only have to break down statistics of how people voted as a total, and compare that to the parliamentary allocation of seats to see just how corrupt the voting system in this country is!
Parasites will never willingly let go. That applies to both the government and the BBC.
The government is committed to keeping the BBC licence for good, it will never go away it's like a leech!
mines gone awy
You are right.
Unfortunately for them, the current rate of attrition to licence numbers is un-sustainable. That will force a decision for 2027. They will have to switch it to taxation. So, get the numbers down by then to permanently squeeze the BBC's budgets.
So is the 'government' !
Probably owned by foreigners trying to claw our money
Unfortunately I don't think so. I think it will be added to, say our broadband or energy bills so it will be nigh on impossible to avoid.
Its a major properganda arm for them. They will never abolished the tax.
You can abolish it. I abolished the license decades ago.
@@takeapictureitlllastlonger5768 in 98 I think I did it. Saved a few grand.
@@kderules At today's prices, you've saved just over 4 grand.
The bbc/license fee and politicians are so out if touch. They need reform
It's NEVER going to happen!
Of couse the government is in suppot of the BBC they don't want to lose their yearly cut of the license fee
And the bbc is an official government mouthpiece.
I am nearing 72 , never have and never will support THE bbc.
Well done 👏 ✔️
So how did you watch TV in 1970?
@@segas7344 i was too involved in sports did not have time for tv also i was into live music and loving the ladies.
@@segas7344 easy.
@@segas7344 in 1970 a person of 72 would only be 16 so the question is irrelevant.
Not paid it in over 15yrs, their letters go in the bin unopened
Me2 will u be in on the 15 lol no
Fire lighters 😂😂😂😂
Oh no all those visit dates where nobody shows missed by you...😂
People like her are the main problem with most things in this country 😮
Why should we pay the BBC, while we watch itv c4 c5 sky, the law should change, it's wrong on all levels ,
Vote for MPs that support your views on the BBC & BBC PLC.
You don't have to
Why do you even watch ITV, C4, C5 etc?
You don't have to if you use catch up services, just don't use iplayer.
@@cheeseontoast9251 what would happen if you did use iplayer....that's a bit like saying I'll charge you snd come after you if you went on my website. It's all bluff and bluster.
I have saved £805.50 by not having the TV licence happy days. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
WHAT UTTER BULLCRAP FROM HER.
Most definitely, all politicians are full of it!!
The government may well be committed but "we the people" are not.
Well said! 👏
500,000 on 20mph petition in wales and ignored.
1million plus on grooming gang enquiry, ignored as 'not in the public interest'!
@@mikehipperson It's only 'in the public interest' when it affects the ruling classes directly.
I would NEVER EVER say that Kuenssberg is REMOTELY unbiased
I don't pay it and never will.
Well done the government. You can pay my share because I won’t be doing so.
..yeh but it just comes out of our taxes.
I swear to fuck if they make it a tax that gets stolen from my pay when I DONT EVEN USE it
There's literally no chance of that happening. I personally think they will struggle to make it an addition to broadband bills even. Because in a free market as we supposedly are, the broadband providers might just point out that if people need to cancel their broadband services to escape paying the TVL, they might indeed just do that. Thus costing them customers.
If that happens, there needs to be protests that dwarf the Poll tax riots.
I had a "enforcement officer" knock on my door on 3rd Jan '24,I took your advice and politely told the guy on my doorstop "no thank you, I dont need one" and closed the door on him! I havent heard a word from them since.
I wouldn't even have opened the door. You just don't know who's out there.
I haven't heard from them in years, i still get the "SCARY" letters though! ROFLMFAO....
The license fee perfectly sums up the British ruling class. "We're woke, we're broke, and you peasants will fund our incompetence or else!"
This unfairness of the licence fee should be taken to court, it's a big rip off,
Free for me
Couple of things... won't go to court as its government backed.. simply cancel you direct debit, job done...
All the more reason for dropping them… everything the political class touch turns into a complete s.hitshow.
I hope to God that the TV Licence fee stays!!!
Why? Because it's a "tax" that I DO NOT HAVE TO PAY!
I genuinely do not watch live TV or watch BBC Catch Up (iPlayer) and I have been Licence free for 20+ years.
Stop campaigning to get it stopped because if it's added to one of my bills as a Media Tax or other Levy, I'll be very annoyed.
LEAVE IT AS IT IS!!!!
I have to agree! (Sorry Jon, and thanks for all your hard work and enthusiasm). I’d be furious if I had to pay a media tax - but I really enjoy not paying a tv licence - for crap I don’t watch!
@@arsenvokrug4198 No government will have the courage, integrity or imaginative, radical, outside-the-box thinking required to make the BBC go commercial.
The clue's in the wording 'BBC's future funding is fair and sustainable.' So why must be pay for the BBC if we're not watching it? That is not _fair._
Ultimately - if you don't let them in, or confess, when they knock on the door how can they catch you, even if you *are* watching the BBC.....
Even when these petitions get a million votes, they still say no - totally pointless.
How about get rid of governments controlled by politicians - in this day and age we could let the people vote online for any decision for anything what get's debated in parliament, and let the public totally control what happens - this is the future of how to run countries..
The problem is Jon, that they have 'friends' in government who will ensure we WILL have a media tax, meaning we WILL be forced to pay whether we like it or not! 🤬
By the government , you mean the taxpayer. I have cancelled my licence thank you very much.
Vote for MPs that support your views on the BBC & BBC PLC.
Independent then 💯👍
Vote? 😂😂 When did that ever change anything????
I cancelled mine about three to four years ago. Did it all legal. Job done! Saving myself a few quid as well.
How do you do it 'all legal'. Just stop paying.
@@MikeEves I 'phoned them up. Later got sent the non-licence disclaimer thingy. Done. They contact you every two years (I think it is.) just asking if you require a licence or not. You can call them up again, (which I think is all automated now,) and job done.
@@TheRedDevil-1968 I just cancelled my direct debit. When they send me their threatening letters, I ignore them. As I never watch TV (there's nothing worth watching), I'm breaking no law at all.
NEW PETITION: BAN MPs that support the BBC. STOP VOTING FOR MPs that do not fully support funding by subscriptions, ads or donations only like U.S. PBS. for the BBC.
BP, BT, BG, BA & even “Royal” Mail went PLC, why hasn’t the BBC?
Because it's the state propaganda tool... While selling publicly paid for business (without the publics permission, which I'm sure is fraud/theft) for a profit for THEIR pockets
£169.50!? Seems only last year it was 159.50! 😮
Well last week actually.
@@frankbrodie5168 Ha! Fair point. I should have said only seems like last year it went up to 159, but that was 2021 I believe.
@@frankbrodie5168 Last week was last tax/financial year.
The day they try and take the license fee out of my payslip, I’ll retire from work!!!
They'll include it in the tax on pensions.
cancelled my TV Tax on 28th March through their website, had no response so i cancelled my direct debit, Job done, no payment taken on the 2nd April, if they come knocking i will say Hello who are you, no thank you and shut the door 😀quick question, these assets they keep buying, where did the money come from and who owns said assets if its public money, i'e bbc studios who paid for that ?
Poor Summer Child! All the gas pipes we paid for: gifted off to the British Gas shareholders. All the water pipes we paid for: gifted to the shareholders of the various water companies. All the telephone lines the GPO laid and paid for with our tax money? Gifted in bulk to the shareholders of BT.
So, who do you _think_ will own all the existing assets when the BBC is finally sold off? Well, it won't be you or I if past practice is anything to go by!
If you pay by monthly direct debit you will need to contact them to get your advance credit back
Why would the government get rid of their most successful propaganda service paid for by the public?
The (potentially) next Labour Government will be mutually supportive with the BBC . The Tory Government have missed an open goal.
Well not quite yet they haven't. That open goal is still there if Rishi wants to make the TVL an election issue. Let's face it, the man would pimp out his own granny for votes considering his behaviour so far as unelected PM. So you never know as they say.
The Licence fee will never be scrapped even after 2027 , the only way to force the BBC to do something is to stop paying the nearly £170 fee , 400000stopped paying last year , lets make it 1 million this year
Can't we sue the BBC as being unfit for purpose, and also for lack of honesty?
Why should anyone be forced to pay for a TV license to keep the BBC going? They have become unreliable and biased when it comes to the news and honest reporting, and many have stopped watching.
Nobody is forced.. they, like you, just think they are... simply cancel your direct debit... simple
@robtheplod Freeview and monthly cable subscriptions all have live channels.
The last one to leave the Country turn the lights out if Labour get in with the BBC steering the ship .!
The licence is here to stay. They don't give 4 billion pounds up without a fight.
I predict, with this recent price hike on the "TV Tax," there will be even more people cancelling their licence's now.
Only if allowed to continue - tell them now to find their own funding and give them 6 months to do it or they will receive a "Winding-up Order" for not following any of the rules and conditions.
havent pd bbc for 7 yrs lol
"It's shit"...hahahahahahahaaaaaaaa
I will admit I laughed properly at that. Not subtle. But totally on point.
The BBC have had their knickers in a twist when we found out in the 1970s just how they squandered our licence fee.
Thanks good, as long as I am not forced to pay for it I happy.
These parliament petitions are useless. They just spend like a minute talking about it and move on.
we need to join forces and sue them for harassment and criminal malpractice
How can the BBC be independent when eight of the board members are chosen by the government and two are chosen by the Royal family?
The LibLabCon parties have always been in favour of retaining the BBC TV Licence fee. The BBC gives these political parties unlimited access to the airwaves to spread their propaganda. This is the most important requirement for the establishment political parties, being a regressive tax that hurts the poor doesn't even register. In the US, political parties and candidates pay $millions to get the same access to the airwaves that the BBC gives to the UK establishment parties for free, in return for the gravy train to continue.
They must laugh at people who pay for a licence.
Doesn't the BBC we're talking about operate under a Royal Charter?
Is the government now saying they're issuing a new Royal Charter?
I don't understand why the BBC needs more money from TV licenses if they were getting enough to acquire Britbox International. It'd be sustainable with the existing license money if they didn't buy up other companies. We're effectively paying for them to do it.
The BBC will never be an independent, impartial broadcaster; as long as the TV licence is in force. It is ridiculous!!! 🤬🤯
Surprising how meany people belive that, if you own a TV you must buy a TV TAX LICENSE !
Surprising how many farmers that rely on young European farm workers voted Brexit and then moan about produce rotting in the fields.
Common sense and critical thinking is not that common, but strongly held opinions based on zero facts are.
Then do not have a TV. Not complicated.
"Still the most trusted news provider" my backside!
In Cyprus we pay as a percentage of our electricity bill, despite the fact that we as expats do not watch Cyprus tv.
the connection of the Government with the BBC makes both parties look very bad - will not vote for and party that funds the BBC
My labour MP is too , I wrote to him about the license fee he made it very clear the license fee will not be going anywhere .
I'd bet a fair amount of money that he claims his licence fee on his expenses, even though it's nothing to do with Parliamentary activities.
Let’s Vote them all out.
Think of this as good news, it stops them changing the way its paid for like adding a fee to your council tax. It would be much more difficult to avoid paying if added to council tax!
Vote as far right as you can for decades to come to solve this all.
Just as well. Cos im sure as shit not giving them ANOTHER PENNY. !
Get rid of the TV licence i will never pay for it keep up the good work
Their pension commitments guarantee that things will just carry on.
Like local council pensions:
They awarded themselves more money than they could afford to pay.
What better reason for everyone getting together to put enormous pressure on NO CHARTER RENEWAL.
I have no choice then but to finally cancel my TV licence
If this government supports the BBC get rid of the government
As always the Government doing what the vast majority do not wish!.
Love a bit of unintentional comedy. “The most trusted news organisation” 😂 😂.
Doesn't CNN also make that ludicrous claim?
@@englishciderlover7347 They do CNN is the American equivalent of the BBC.
@@shanehall98 Aren't the other main networks over there also on the same page as the BBC?
@@englishciderlover7347 yes they are all as bad as each other.
The bbc is an agency of the State. Why would the State want to prejudice a MAJOR asset.
What a waste of government money
Govt has only weeks to survive, then the wilderness. Wouldn`t you want the Beeb watching your back while your out in the desert?
Ooh, yes, retire to Scotland! Asymmetric national devolution, the Barnett Formula, the West Lothian Question... lovely! Don't let the door bang you on the backside on your way out.
And don't expect to be automatically welcomed in my Scotland. You can't hear a vox pop programme on Scottish radio without it being 1/3 English accented incomers replying.
ChilliJohn, I've been saying this for 40 years, the last time I bought a licence was 1983, and that was only because of the kids, just so they wouldn't be embarrassed by their peers when at school the next day.
I am committed to no longer paying for the garbage being broadcast so ditching live tv was the best move I ever did. Just wish I had done it sooner as there are much better things on Amazon Prime Netflix & On Demand.
WHO are they to demand that I have to pay them to watch any tv channel . This is a licence to watch a tv, not just the bbc channels.
Will not be renewing license in June. Also not prepared to break the law, so all TV related paraphernalia will be deposited in council skips at the end of May! Simple.
You don't need to get rid of your TV, just don't watch any live briadcasts.
You can still watch streaming services, UA-cam, catch up, dvd's, gaming etc.
@@RicStorm616thanks for info !
What a joke. ill never pay for it again..
80,000 people a month cancelling their direct debit... be one of them
Petition is still worth signing, it only takes a minute. Let's get it to 100,000!
Keep it coming mate! Good on you.
THE REFORM PARTY WILL PUT A STOP TO THIS
Jon, please mention to your subscribers that voting for the main stream parties at the next election will be also a vote for the retention of the licence fee. A vote for Reform, or UKIP will be a vote for the abolition of the licence fee.
Yep Boris had abolishing the TV licence in his mandate. What lies.... I believe Reform will abolish it.😊
great to see thanks
The way they are going they will want 300 a year i bet they will just keep puting it up all the time no one should pay for it never get rid of it it needs to go
Poll tax fight then!
It's got nothing to do with the government the public pay the licence fee so it's the publics decision
I'm afraid those that say they're not supporting the BBC, they will be. We all will be.
I would rather the BBC continue to have their silly license fee than the government adds a new "electronic media levy" to our tax bill.
The reason being, it is easy to opt out of the current license fee, but it may not be easy to opt out of a new blanket tax.
from a personal point of view, I have no issue what so ever in the BBC keeping the licence fee. anyone stupid enough to pay it, is welcome to. The second the licence fee is abolished they will replace it with some kind on "media tax" on broadband to recapture all of us, so the longer fools pay it, the better off the rest of us are.
Even subscription apps have ads.. even if you pay monthly.. its like their trying to get every penny from our pockets .....
Supporting the beeb through the TV licence is not good at all!!
I'm waiting for my April 6th visit at the weekend. Can't wait 😁
She should do standup.
Down to us to just not watch it and give them nothing
Keep up the good work 👍
