They pay him because it's not their money.
Not my money either 😊
Nor my money it's disgusting. ❤x
2024 BBC proof that crime does pay
Err! what was his crime? He hasn't been charged with anything.
So why is Edwards being paid for doing nothing? It's shady as F*ck. Nothing new from BBC
Scrap the TV Licence fee ASAP.
It was scraped in 2018 for me I say thank you 🙏
As long as it doesn’t go on the council tax. At least we can all opt out at the moment and save our £170
No, don't scrap the licence fee, if they add it to a tax on broadband or some other media tax you'll be paying it again!
@@pow1983exactly, if it goes on income tax I’ll be fine because I’m retired and loving it 😅
Liebour will make it a tax@@MultiSueH
This is why I no longer pay for or have anything to do with the bbc. 4 years running. Never paying again.
Same here. Three years happily licence free.
Me too. Stopped my Direct Debit and haven't received a single demand letter in 5 years.
I'm 9 years living at my current property with never having paid a licence fee.
Haven't in over 5 years and never will again
I've only ever paid for one year and I'm 47 now. Never had a threatening letter, just some reminders. I did go online and declare I didn't use BBC a couple of times, but I haven't even done that for years now.
£1,200 a day for doing f**k all. Nice.
Cos its from our
Money tree
Great work if you can get it.
He's paid mote than an "inmate" at the House of Lords!
that sounds like the job for me i hate working😂
Don't forget the money they pissed up the wall for the Eastenders set.
@mickman0073 & supposedly so it would look better in HD....WTF !!!!
…and all the money siphoned out to BBC Studios Ltd
Back when that show started in the mid-1980s, they could have hired someone who wrote it correctly (East Enders).
Eastenders lol, another load a crap that still way past its use by date 😂😂
@@MYBIGKINDHEART And just like Lineker on MOTD and his huge salary, a huge amount wasted on a ‘flagship’ program that is of niche interest where only a very small proportion of the population are interested in. In fact, if it was asked in a poll, I bet an overwhelming proportion would actually express hatred of Eastenders.
if he is not working he should not be paid
So you've never received sick pay, then?
I expect it's in his contract, which can be messy things to extricate yourself from. I think maybe the BBC should learn how to negotiate better contracts. But don't hold people to standards you yourself can't meet: we've _all_ been paid for not working at some point in our careers.
@@dizwellNot been paid half a million pounds for being off work for a whole year! Funny he didn't have "mental health issues" until the allegations. Plus it's outrageous to be paid so much from the licence fee to someone for "Reading out Loud" for goodness sake!
I wonder, do you work for the BBC by chance?
@@winifredrobinson5132 No, I'm retired. And I don't pay the TV licence. And I don't receive state pension nor any other state benefit.
Of course you haven't been paid half a million quid for being off work. Neither have I. But if that's what his contract says, that's what happens.
The scale of the payment is in any case irrelevant to the point I was making. We've all been paid for not working at some point. The quantum of cash we've been paid at such times doesn't change the principle involved: if you're sick, you still get paid.
In all the jobs I ever had, if I'd been sick for a long time, the company could bring in their own doctor for an assessment. After more time off, they could move to dismiss. These are the rules that no doubt apply to Huw just as much as they ever applied to me or you... and they completely refute the suggestion that "if he doesn't work, he shouldn't be paid", which was the proposition I was replying to.
In passing, it isn't a good look going around accusing people of things, just because you don't like what they say. Resorting to the "do you work for the BBC" line displays an inability to reason or debate on your part, basically. Aim higher.
Likewise, complaining that all Huw ever did was "read a teleprompter" is an appeal to ignorance: he did far more than that (narrating the queen's funeral, for example) and even reading a teleprompter requires a set of skills that I certainly don't possess. If it was trivially easy, Mandy from Maldon would be doing it for fifty knicker a night.
When was he ever working? Too many people these days (And It has been like this for a long time) have absolutely no concept of what real work entails. Sitting down and talking Is work? NO IT ISN'T.
@garylovell6017 Of course it's "real work", whatever that phrase is meant to mean. No, it's not bricklaying or truck driving, but it's apparently worth nearly half a million to someone, so it's real enough.
I personally think that playing Mother Goose at the Christmas panto isn't exactly _useful_ work ...and how hard is it to memorise some lines and recite them, badly, anyway?! But I'm not going to dismiss it as "not real work", just because I have no idea of the actual effort and skillset involved.
A moment at Wikipedia tells me Huw Edwards has a degree in mediaeval French along with a PhD and was a professional journalist long before he took up the teleprompter. And his narration and handling of the queen's funeral demonstrated to me, at least, a reasonable degree of journalistic and literary competence.
I assume the BBC concluded that _that_ and a tendency *not* to, like, umm and, errr, you know, like, ummm are skills worth paying for.
the BBC should not be paying the private school fees of a single child.
I agree with CJC sentiments on foreign reporting - use foreign reporters where possible. But I believe in some countries this is not possible, e.g. China. In those cases the only option for genuine English schooling is via an international school. Which cost money (private).
Probably have to pay security for them as well
He should have been fired. Isn't it funny that he didn't have any mental illness while he was involved in his scandal but when he gets caught he has mental illness ?
He is a big Welsh Nonce!
Don't know if it's funny. It's certainly - and fraudulently - expensive.
Did you know you can have a mental illness without knowing?
For GODS sake it's time for all of us to stop paying the rotton BBC.
I've never paid the rv tax and never will
Done 😂😂😂😂
For OUR sake!
Stop then or have they put the frighteners on you ?
It’s like paying me to use someone else’s product when it comes to live tv.
Well, they will not be getting that money from me. Not interested. Shut the door.
Nor I. I just dislike what the so called BBC has become, 31 letters so far and £600 quid better off.
@melviniq1169 jeez, I'm only on my 8th letter, the last 4 have been telling me to expect a visit from the "enforcement officer" 😂 good job they send me the toilet paper as I'm shitting myself (not) ah well, looking forward to the next 23+
Same here
Weldone you 👍👏👏🤣🤣
If you complained to your MP, they would say nothing to see here.
MP won't reply anyway. All rats.
I have. And he did. Took him a page to say exactly that.
"Earnt"? You mean stolen.
Easy come Easy go That’s the BBC mantra.👎😡
Same as this government then!
@marylauder3374 all governments....all parliaments.
@@marylauder3374 If you think the current government invented waste and extravagance, I have a couple of bridges for sale.
Huw what? Still riding 1st class on the gravy train?.
Unbelievable and people still pay their licence fee 😢
They are paying it if they watch it or they could have fear from them they need to lose the fear first it’s not hard just block them out simple lose the fear save ya money I have
Mugs and there are plenty of those
TV licensing is a ridiculous TV tax
That's why I don't pay it
It's an optional subscription. I don't subscribe so I pay nothing

that's an effin disgrace, i'm lucky if I have £40 at the end of the month and I know I'm not the only one this boils my blood 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Never mind the licence, scrap the BBC. End of.
they need to pay for their own kids not us
They even have a special annual bring your wife and kids to work at the BBC for the rest of their lives day. Nepotism run riot.
@mygreatbigfoot1679 exactly. The BBC has always been a nest of nepotism.
@@davidbetts9332 Just look at how many TV or radio presenters follow their parents onto the airwaves. I'm surprised the children of Fiona Bruce or Huw Edwards haven't followed that well-worn path.
If any BBC salesman come to my door, no thank you door shut. Keep up the great work, spreading the word.
I bet he would recover quickly if they stopped paying him
I have said the same about Gary Lineker. Why is he paid so much when his show is not even in the top 20 top watched programs.
Is there a shortage of people who can talk about football?

The best way to argue this is to STOP PAYING THIS SCAM TAX. 👍
When you put the real figures like this, you realise why the BBC needs to be turned off. Thank you for your video.
Disgraceful
I have no words 😢
NO PAY. NO LICENSE. NO GUILT.
BBC have paid Disney £2million for the use of a stage at Pinewood Studios. Which is double what they normally charge. Guess who paid for that.
You?, as it certainly isn't me!
@rugbynut-ar it's the same as that glove puppet (I.e :- BBC director-general Tim Davie) saying they have to make another £200 million in cutbacks, then spend a huge amount of money on that crapy "Race Around The World", another phoney non-reality TV pile of shit with all usual per-rehearsed dialogue & cry on camera routines over sod all. Double standards as per bloody usual 😡
@@robtheplod nope not me 5 years licence free.

Not me either. 🤣
I must learn this secret BBC handshake, worth a fortune.
I have friends who work abroad and nobody pays their school fees.
That's close to £19000 per month after tax...disgraceful.
And retired people who don't get that a year are hauled into courts...
The bbc should be scrapped entirely. Waste of money.
What job apart from the BBC apparently, pays your kids school fees? 🙄
MOD
@@robtheplod Fair point. Just had a quick look and apparently 10 years ago MoD spent £58m on private school fees. And in 2022 according to gov website military families benefitted from £3K per child per year in child care costs. So I guess it's not just the BBC
@@jasonuren3479Still taxpayers money, BBC or MOD.
@@xxxx-ep1tj Oh absolutely I know that
@@jasonuren3479
MOD is "a little different" I think. They are posted around the world in their jobs relating to the protection and defence of this country. As a result, their children need a stable education.
H/E reads out aloud for a living on half a million pounds a year, sitting down in a comfy chair in a studio in this country with a camera pointing at him!! All paid for by the licence fee.
In return, the public receive lots of rubbish BBC programmes and more repeats than ever before. The standard of programming is appalling and has declined continually for at least the last two decades.
What has increased however, is of course the BBC Licence fee and the huge salaries paid to many of their under talented "stars", such as people reading out loud or someone who is paid three times H/E's salary as Gary Lineka for talking football!!!!!
I'm really glad that I made the decision not to fund these crooks anymore.
This company soooo needs to be defunded.
I just had my first visit from the TV licence people about an hour ago and politely said "sorry, not interested" and closed the door.
👏👏👏
Well done 👍👍👍👍.
I had my third visit in 12 months just last week. She wouldn't even tell me who she was so I closed the door. I knew who she was though, they have that look about them lol.
Cancel my nearly 2 years ago.
Flatley refuse to pay it. And that was before I knew about this.
Why he is still getting payed because the public keep paying them. When are the people are going to wake up ?
Well,I'm sure his wife and children still need money to live on.
@@janebaker966 Thought that was what the Social Security was for?
Gee I wish I could make half a million a year doing nothing.
Become an mp!
Reading out loud is a very stressful occupation. The salary is really £30,000 a year - rest is compensation for stress caused by such a dangerous job!🤪😲😀🤔🤬🤬🤬
In in the US, I always had a great deal of respect for the BBC until I saw a documentary about Jimmy Saville. Then my opinion tanked.
Cancelled my licence last week and got a refund. Thanks for the solid information you put out here Chilli !
If we don't pay the licence con, they need to swim in the real world . Corruption free range clucks.
Gravy train always has been always will be.
At this point I'd rather go to jail than pay the BBC one solitary penny.
Knock knock who’s there…….I am from television licencing ……..no thank you!….door slammed shut
Just happened to us. We did the same.
Time. To. Take. It. Down
Another excellent update. More license cancellations ahead. Time to scrap this rotten tax.
He’s not being paid with my money as I defunded three years ago…
I'm so pleased we no longer support the Biased Broadcasting c unts
Poor old Huw, he needs the money, because on that photo with his trousers down it’s obviously he cannot afford a belt?
@garyhope3731 it could've been worse....Jack Regan could've uttered those immortal words "Get yer trousers on so, you're nicked" 😆
@@stevenoneill7166 😂😂😂😂good one👍
Given the BBC is taxpayer funded via the license, shouldn't the taxpayer decide how much these dregs get paid? I am thinking of a round number between 1 and -1
Even worse that he’s suspended on full pay for displaying sexual predatory behaviour
He must know things to get such a nice deal
There must be Hurty words there someware but plods looking the other way 😮😮😮😮😮
BBC is not worth it
I am never going to pay for the BBC TV licence i never will
What I do not understand is why the BBC think that they have to compete with commercial tv and have more and more expensive programs to compete. You BBC are a Public broadcaster not a commercial tv company. Stop now!
This is so disgraceful! He’s a pervert anyway. Why should we pay all this for a pervert?
Don’t Watch Don’t Pay . Why would I pay to be lied to.
Why are people being paid so much for doing naff-all but read some news items for a few hours per day for most days of the week? This is pure scandalousness.
Your thinking of MPs, I think a bit more goes into being a news anchor. You could always apply for a role then tell us first hand.
They don't care there's no shame anymore.
From the States here. Most of our news is crap too, but at least they don't get taxpayer dollars. Good luck mates, love your channel 💯
The problem we have in this Country is the British Establishment Cabal!
They look after their own. Jail the one's who were in charge.
I wonder if that figure for Huw's salary includes employer's NI and pension contributions? Nice (non) work if you can get it.
This is why the BBC Licence Fee needs scrapping, I've done my bit by cancelling mine & not funding these abhorrent individuals.
Stopped paying when i turned 75 they had promised me a free tv licence but then reneged, i am 77 now .
Same here got to 75 no more licence.
I'm gonna discuss the TV licence with my 2 lodgers.
Why isn't he sacked? He's never going to be able to interview a person again without them knowing about the image of himself he sent to a teenager. He can no longer do his job, end of.
Jon I hope people watching this, share it so you get a wider coverage.
And keep shining a light on this lunacy.
Been license free for 10+ years, finally got my mum to cancel hers yesterday, one less to support their hypocrisy...
The problem for the BBC is that he has pulled the trick of saying the BBC can't discipline him while he is off sick.
No idea how long he can pull that one off. There are usually ways to forcibly retire people on long term sick.
Even when they retire they still get paid by the BBC, pensions take up an obscene amount of licence fee money, it's yet another BBC scandal that many people are unaware of.
Keep it going for, oh, five years I reckon. Plod did that once somewhere in the UK - on full pay...
Blame MPs as they are ones who extended the charter, it needs abolishing permanently and make them a commercial company
In the run-up to the Brexit vote, Nigel Farage came to our town to give speeches at a local school near me. We had a local BBC news crew, a National BBC news crew and the local BBC radio news team. Maybe 15-20 people in total 😢
£60 each should sort that out.
Where is he foreign correspondents wives, and why are they not looking after the children. Surely the BBC are not paying for the whole family to be on holiday.
There has to be a law that says the BBC and this government are not allowed to charge people for watching live independent commercial TV channels in the UK on Freeview and sat from around the world ?
It has to be breaking one of the human rights laws??
They shouldn’t be allowed to dictate what people can watch in a free world .
I got another threating letter from TV License UK last week, it's just addressed to 'the householder', it was the same as the one I got a month ago and 3 working days after that one I had a random suspicious call from a Sky Engineer - I asked before and no-one replied but do you think that Sky Engineers also get contracts to check up on people or maybe this one had two jobs (one being TV License inspector) ? I caught him and his van on the door bell cam but I never answered.
I would imagine the BBC would certainly consider partnering up with another organisation to spy on addresses not paying the licence fee. Sky would make sense. The Post Office perhaps. Meter readers maybe. Don't let anyone in, and if they do somehow get in lock them up in the cellar.
I watched a Richard Vobes video where he interviewed a chap who says you can get 5k from the bbc for their harrassment letters telling you to get a licence,
They pay Edwards that much to keep quiet, there's a lot more in BBC just like him
I've just had a visit from TV licensing, he introduced himself, my husband didntbsay a word and closed the door in his face.
He obviously has something on them , he is utterly corrupt but not entirely stupid
Simple, stop paying the tv licence.
I don't own a television.
I have sent them emails to confirm this. But they still keep on sending those threatening letters....😮
If Edwards' Contract says he gets full pay while suspended, there's not much anyone can do.
On a more positive note, I cancelled my TV Licence a couple of weeks ago, just received the acknowledgement from TV Licensing. So I'm waiting for my first "goon" visit - should I practice my door closing technique for the maximum "Artistic Merit" score? 😂😂
Companies are only legally obliged (along with SSP) to pay long-term sick pay for 28 weeks. I assume someone has lost the office Countryfile calendar.
And the constant pissing up the wall of the postage costs on their mahoosive amountt of 'you are under investigation' letters 🙃
Why is he ‘suspended’? Either they have grounds for dismissal or not.
Oh? yes we call the BBC British Brain Washing Corporation.
Get BBC Verify onto it

He didn't earn a penny. He was PAID an obscene amount of money.
Can't believe dirty Huw is on full pay whilst suspended!
He didn't get any of my money, guess why 😂😂😂😂😂😂
As more of the news paper buying age group die out so will the BBC TV licence paying. I cannot imagine anyone that grew up in the Internet age paying for a TV licence nowadays and why should they ?
Because there's a lot of gullible (indoctrinated) idiots about that think if they don't pay it they'll go to prison... And I'm talking younger than 25....
They have boxes to tick. You must have X amount of "foreign" employees.
It's bent as they are
And if that doesn’t persuade you to stop paying the tv tax, then nothing will!
You think all that £169 get to the BBC?

If people are stupid enough to pay for a licence they should not complain.
