I don’t read them anymore Jon. I’ve had 2 visits in 3 years. First during lockdown just after I moved to a new property. Female who told me she couldn’t identify herself until I identified myself due to data security . Laughed in her face. Second a 60 ish man. Just said, thanks to you, no thanks, please leave, shut door. Nothing since. I live in a rural village so guess they don’t bother anymore once that went on their system. First woman was well pushy and wanted to come into my home! During lockdown! I told her she was not coming into my place. She agreed she wasn’t actually allowed to! Bloody cheek! People knocking on MY door and refusing to introduce themselves!
We stopped watching TV probably 8 years ago, while we lived in Wiltshire. The guy from Capita came to the door and proudly announced that we no longer had a TV licence. Did you know that some people from Capita are scared of a 120 lb snarling dog, she is 165 lb now. We moved 4 years ago to a house halfway up a mountain in West Wales. We haven't heard a peep out of them for 5 - 6 years.
This would be completely illegal to do by any other company - yet the BBC are allowed to send complete lies through the post. I would love these letters to be examined by a court and the BBC forced to change such illegal wording
Black Belt Barrister has a great recent video where he explores whether the letters amount to harassment. There’s a case he references which suggests it probably does. Well worth a watch
There's 20 properties in my post code. All in a straight line. You could canvas them all in under an hour. Guarantee a visiting goon wouldn't survive for more than 10 minutes, 5 at weekends, and his remains wouldn't be found. Ho-ho-ho! Merry Xmas to one and all (goons excluded).
There needs to be a solid campaign NOW to get as many people as possible to start 2024 (January 1st) by cancelling their TV licences. Ok you can't do it on Jan 1st as everything's closed but asap after this date, or even before. Do it as a Xmas present to yourself!!! It could cause the immediate collapse of the licence. Spread the word NOW!!!!!

I received on of these letters today, I find them threatening and offensive since I do not require the "service", surely they must border on letters which cause stress and anxiety which is illegal
This is what winds me up, how dare they send a letter threatening you for something you do not even use or care about, how on earth it is legal baffles me and is absolutely harrassment in every sense. Our doorbell doesn't work so doubt I would even notice if any of the moron goons appear
I had my first visit a couple of weeks ago. After the "I'm from TV licencing" and my "no thanks", I had a bonus feature... As I closed the door, he said "I'll just leave you my card".... So I re-opened the door and said "why? I don't require that either", and door closed on him again. Great video's, keep up the good work!
Same here. The only time I had a visit was after I did the "no licence needed" on the website a few years back. I wasn't in at the time and they stuffed a bunch of stuff through the letterbox. Now I just get a letter, what seems like every month, threatening an investigation. I think they believe that if you are the kind of person that would let them know you don't need a licence then you're more likely to cooperate with them when they call over and stitch you up, so they target these "cases" specifically. A scummy tactic imo because theyre probably right about that. No contact at all is the only way to go with these people.
Hi Chilli, had the red letter last week - straight in the shredder, about the fourth red one now, having had roughly one a month for the last 18 months. There’s a pattern ! Another excellent video.
Thank you, great content! We recently stopped paying ours and it’s reassuring watching this incase we get any follow ups! Haven’t watched the bbc since and don’t miss it one bit, there’s so much good stuff on UA-cam! 👌
I reckon people like yourself, Silver voices and all the other anti license people should start a campaign to persuade everyone to cancel their licenses, you could use the rise in April to do it as that would be a good way to persuade people to cancel
Too many old folk still believe everything BBC says and love coronation street why do you think they stopped the free licence? It's coz they're the only people who will pay them.
the problem then is there will be a threshold and government will step in and levy an amount in general taxation...so then every single taxpayer will be paying one way or another for it, even those that do not need a licence in any way or form
For THREE YEARS hey have been threating to come an visit me. I've even called them and asked them to either come and check or STOP HARASSING ME. Neither has happened.
Your videos are really helpful ! I cancelled 2 months ago and am wary of any knocks on the door, but now, armed with your advice, I know what to do! Thanks Jon 👍
If you're really worried then it might be worth investing in a door camera (not a bad idea for general home security anyway), but ultimately, as Jon points out, these goons are just door to door salesmen who often dress like coppers to intimidate you like a common playground bully and have NO powers whatsoever.
@philkasafir. Exactly. All these people have to do is just declare it. I haven't had a license for 2 years and have declared it. I have had no letters, no calls nothing. This man is just telling people to break the law. He is pathetic.
I get the letter every 2 years and that's it now, I think they've finally clocked on that if nothing has changed in 14 years it probably won't now 😂 last time they came round I opened the door and the TV said "no signal" he just said "no problem sir you don't need one' and walked off! Never came back 😂
@kacper9441 it's all just wrong. No one should be assumed a criminal by default because they choose not to opt in to a service, they're just exercising their rights as consumers. I had a guy full on insulting me yesterday accusing me of watching TV and dodging the fee, says I'm a part of the problem and why his grandad has to pay for a license. Whilst I don't disagree, why should I burden the guilt because I've made an informed choice not to buy something I don't need? Its madness, this guy was nasty as hell and it just baffled me. Personally If my grandparents or parents were still around I'd be giving them access to everything BUT the services they need for live TV and they would see how much better it actually is, unfortunately they're no longer with us but there's nothing stopping other people teaching their elderly relatives "the way" 😎
I’m tempted to put one of these letters in a time capsule so the people of the future can laugh at how draconian our laws were during the New Carolean Age
@@markjeffery7319 Yes but my situation is ive not paid the license for nearly 10 years now and only had 1 visit and a threatogramme a month which is a shame really as i just love to waste their time and money👍
Hi ChilliJonCarne, First of all just want to say, love your channel & everything that you do. 27th November 2023 was Three years since I started receiving threatograms from the T.V.L.A. In that time I have been under 9 different investigations been told countless times that I am going to receive a visit. But so far I have had 0.0 visits. I live in South Shields Tyne & Wear & the closest T.V.L.A office to me is in Newcastle Upon Tyne 8 miles away or a 20 minute Metro train ride away. The last letter I received from them was April 2023 saying that I had 10 days to, you guessed it get correctly licensed. When ever I receive there letters I just bin them.
Jon this is the letter i got today! Its the first one of these i had in 11 months though!! I had so many others. Like you, i don't watch or record live or use i player. Like you , im still the legal occupier, even though im on the electoral role now. Thanks to you, im fully prepared now. I can't believe we got the same letter, same time
"You can expect a visit soon" They must spend a fortune on lawyers to draft these letters with as much of a threatening tone as they can get away with. Gotta love the red stamp "Visit approved" haha. But on a serious note, can't they be reported for harassment and/or threats, or at the very least, told to stop sending letters AND deny their right of access to the property? I wonder if there's any pre written letters out there that people can send off to cover that? Just another thought, the visits themselves are essentially door to door salesmen/women, so what if you have the NO Sales people trading standards sign up? According to trading standards it's an offence to knock when the sign is up, especially if they come back again Perhaps that could be investigated by trading standards.
You Sir are doing one hell of a job. It is really annoying that they are allowed to use such disgraceful and harassing tactics. Personally, I stopped paying tv licence and completely boycotted BBC. Shame is that in the same time the other broadcasters are loosing the audience.
I've wondered if this constant letter campaign is a secret subsidy keeping the Royal Mail alive. Would be fascinating to know how much the BBC spends on these mailshots every few weeks.
Had loads of letters threatening to visit, I'll meet him/ her on the door step.. it's the old and vunerable i feel sorry for... DO NOT TALK TO THEM, close the door.
can you imagine if a different organisation behaved like this?? "we don't have a record of parrot insurance at this address. Do you know you could be committing an offence if you own a parrot, or occasionally look after one. Please pay for this insurance to prevent an officer coming to your address....." It's ludicrous, I'm hoping we get a visit, we did notify online that we didn't need a licence, but I don't see why I have to renew that notification every 2 years, my circs haven't changed. Please visit me, I know my legal rights!!!
They send letters ANYTIME. I declared a no license needed 12 months ago, and I've had 7 letters in that time, including the red 'scary' one. Not sure about the 1st one, but all of the others are addressed to The Legal Occupier. No visits yet, but just waiting for the "I'm from tv licensing' quote so that I can say 'Oh, a salesperson, no ta'. Then shut the door in their face!
I sympathise with your frustration Jon. I too for the last decade or so have recieved countless generic junk mail circulars from the BBC paedophille colaborators giving me so called 'final warnings' before an investigation is opened. (the investigation saville never had). Im shaking in fear because they can come at ANY time of the day or night. I just cant sleep anymore and its having an clear effect on my private life and perfomance at work has noticably declined because of all this worry from the nations unimpartial broacaster.
These clowns are just that, they've been threatening my wife and I for 2 years and we just keep them for the fun. I genuinely hope they come one day so that I can record it and tell them where to go.
I am always amazed at how frightened some people are about the tv license. They look at me aghast when I say I will never watch such drivel I hear talked about or pay for it. I could not name one programme from the BBC. Don't think I've watched it this century!
I moved to new property, had my "the legal occupier" letter within 2 weeks. Took a picture, sent to my mate for laughs (he hasn't been paying tv licence for last 15+ years) then as responsible and civilized human being I placed it in recycling bin.
I had one person turn up, I opened the door, he said TV licensing, I closed the door, I said nothing. I heard from the door, "Well that was rude." :) Even if they tried to investigate it would be impossible as they need a reason to request a warrant. My window curtains are always drawn and I live on the 2nd floor in a flat. So they have no chance of anything. Even so, I still don't watch live TV/iPlayer/etc. I even disconnected the cables from the distrubition block. EDIT: Still never received a letter though.
I got that same letter jon, it's in the recycling bin, i haven't read one for several years now. I don't have a telly, no interest whatsoever, but I'm happy they're wasting money sending them, and I'm happy ignoring them. No response is best response
I didn't do the declaration this year and got my first letter yesterday. I'm confused though , the BBC emailed to check why I hadn't responded to the declaration reminder so they have a way of contacting me and my details but the letter was addressed to occupier. It's almost like TV licensing have no actual relationship with the BBC and if it wasn't licenses they are selling it would be pegs and tea towels
20 years ago a tv licence goon put his foot in the door, looked him straight in the eye and said "i bet i can close this door even with your foot in it, " heavy hardwood beats plastic every time
I kept getting the TV License letters every month, different one on rotation from their large stash of templates every month, I live on the top floor of an apartment building with no access to the inside unless you have a key for the front door, lol. One day I was out smoking and heard someone flying a fucking drone around, now I have no proof, but in my head it was some BBC TV license fucker trying to check through the top floor window if I was watching Strictly Cum Dancing lmao. My gf had the same issue, even when she told them by email that she doesn't watch any live tv or BBC, they kept sending the letters anyway. You can basically just ignore these letters and treat them as physical spam. Just keep your TV away from any windows or doors and use a ring doorbell to tell any goon visitors to fuck off without having to open the door, lol.
Quick calculation: 30 Million households in the UK. TV licencing own figures reckon that 94% are "correctly licensed". The remaining 6% (1.8M) should only take them 360 days to visit at 5,000 per day. If you're unlicensed then they should be able to get to visit you every year - if their figures are true. I suspect that John's far from alone in going 6 years without a visit (I must be knocking on 10 years). All goes to show that it's cheaper for them to send out letters than people and let fear do their job for them!
You and BlackBeltBarrister have really helped me get away from the British Broadcasting Cartel. I haven't been watching TV ever, I just thought to pay them to avoid the hassle and threats. No more!
lol Had one today saying "Local Enforcement Active" How threatening is this sounding from investigation? like they have right to enter and check to see if one is required!! Their getting desperate now!
I've had visits when I have completed the 'no license needed' form. I completed it when I moved home, and then less than a year later, started receiving the letters again. They are now addressed to 'The Occupier', so I am going to take your advice and say 'no thankyou', should they come to my door.
Great Videos Jon. As an ex UK police officer I was occasionally called upon to assist TV licensing, i would immediately find anything else to do, so i would be unavailable, and all of the other units would also suddenly be 'busy' with, well anything that wasn't helping the BBC bully old ladies. Most UK police don't know the law regarding warrants relating to non criminal matters, I certainly didnt, i had better things to do, so take the time to educate yourself, and most importantly, in the first place, just close the door and dont engage with TV licensing, and the chances of them being able to enforce anything are nil. All the people who end up in court in invariably put themselves there because they tried to be clever and argue with the TV licensing, but end up incriminating themselves. Simply say no thanks, politely aske then to leave your property, and close the door! Keep posting mate!

I’ve been at the same address in London for almost 30 years, on the electoral role the entire time and I haven’t had a visit for over 20 years, no letters for over a decade. They’re slacking.
Very good advice. I live on the ground floor with cctv, a further piece of good advice is to not engage with these people. Had exactly the same letter today...word for word. Thei informed me last June that I was "under investigation and to expect a visit" 6mths later nobody that I am aware of has knocked on my door.
Your info regarding how to deal with TV licencing is epic...many thanks
@@michaelanwyll. I met a plumber who told me he went to a house once where the customer locked him in a upstairs room and held him prisoner 😂
@@michaelanwyll ha ha ha ha that did make me laugh !!!!!!!!!!!
We haven't heard a peep out of them for 5 - 6 years.
ppl are also scared of 60lb dog.
@@stuontwo677 lol so true, we have a Shih Tzu / Jack Russell cross and he can be aggressive. We have 7 dogs and they are all protective of the family.
My last letter was red and it ended up straight into bin 😊
Stopped paying for our tv license 3 years ago, received letters every 3 weeks since, it's saved me a lot of money on toilet roll.......
😂😂
i lived in tough areas they wouldnt set foot in same as traffic wardens
They never visited my pig farm , allegedly
There needs to be a solid campaign NOW to get as many people as possible to start 2024 (January 1st) by cancelling their TV licences. Ok you can't do it on Jan 1st as everything's closed but asap after this date, or even before. Do it as a Xmas present to yourself!!! It could cause the immediate collapse of the licence. Spread the word NOW!!!!!
the government wont give up their money they will just tax the internet

How on earth are you going to get a significant number of people to give up watching live TV etc?
Even Baldrick had better planning skills than you....
Best not to notify them just cancel your DD , job done 👍
I received on of these letters today, I find them threatening and offensive since I do not require the "service", surely they must border on letters which cause stress and anxiety which is illegal
This is what winds me up, how dare they send a letter threatening you for something you do not even use or care about, how on earth it is legal baffles me and is absolutely harrassment in every sense. Our doorbell doesn't work so doubt I would even notice if any of the moron goons appear
They can do this because the mainstream parties most people vote for allow it, vote Reform UK if you want sensible laws for Patriotic Citizens.
It's good fun to hold letter box till they walk off ,
Jon you could wallpaper your lavatory with all this junk mail!
I'm not buying one after 20 years just to cancel it.
Too many old folk still believe everything BBC says and love coronation street why do you think they stopped the free licence? It's coz they're the only people who will pay them.
@@sarahdutton1291 coronation street is ITV.
the problem then is there will be a threshold and government will step in and levy an amount in general taxation...so then every single taxpayer will be paying one way or another for it, even those that do not need a licence in any way or form
@Inspectorgadget111 😂
That Scott Robson is busy, he's also the "enforcement officer" in Guildford!
I keep getting these letters. I can't wait until they come knocking on my door.
As long as you're doing it legally and above board you've nothing to worry about
@philkasafir. Exactly. All these people have to do is just declare it. I haven't had a license for 2 years and have declared it. I have had no letters, no calls nothing. This man is just telling people to break the law. He is pathetic.
@@philkasafir. That;s true, but the pedo-funders at Crapita will still harass the F out of you
Ho ho ho you're in trouble now😂
We get them regularly once a month. They get more comical every time.!!!
I get the letter every 2 years and that's it now, I think they've finally clocked on that if nothing has changed in 14 years it probably won't now 😂 last time they came round I opened the door and the TV said "no signal" he just said "no problem sir you don't need one' and walked off! Never came back 😂
I also get once a month and all go straight to the bin😂😂
@kacper9441 it's all just wrong. No one should be assumed a criminal by default because they choose not to opt in to a service, they're just exercising their rights as consumers. I had a guy full on insulting me yesterday accusing me of watching TV and dodging the fee, says I'm a part of the problem and why his grandad has to pay for a license. Whilst I don't disagree, why should I burden the guilt because I've made an informed choice not to buy something I don't need? Its madness, this guy was nasty as hell and it just baffled me.
Personally If my grandparents or parents were still around I'd be giving them access to everything BUT the services they need for live TV and they would see how much better it actually is, unfortunately they're no longer with us but there's nothing stopping other people teaching their elderly relatives "the way" 😎
They've been investigating me longer than Interpol investigated Carlos the Jackal.
I’ve been under investigation for years, still not had a visit.
Feel like i’m missing out.
I’m tempted to put one of these letters in a time capsule so the people of the future can laugh at how draconian our laws were during the New Carolean Age
They wouldn't be impressed, same letters will be getting delivered 100yrs from now 😂😂
Gonna have to translate them to arabic first
@@petergallagher8929 That's the Royal Snail for you.
If they stopped sending out millions of letters, they would save millions wouldn't they .
Nice job-creation scheme though
Not to mention paying the goons.
I sent a note to them saying licence not required 5 years ago and have never had a visit.
yes but now you are saving them money…. why? i just keep letting them send the monthly threatogrammes which costs them money 👍
@@along4990my comment was directed at John's point that if you declared no licence required you'd definitely get a visit.
I can't believe we got the same letter, same time
Me too!
Go on the edited register , the council are obliged to keep your details private
Had 2 visits in 3 decades, nothing happened, it's just BS from SALESMAN 😂
I had one the other dat that said " This is your final warning". Bring it on.
I had another 50 letters after my final warning. Ha ha BBC 🤡
I’m pleased when Royal Mail puts the cost of postage up … it cost the BBC more to send each enforcement letter 😬😬👍
"You can expect a visit soon"
They must spend a fortune on lawyers to draft these letters with as much of a threatening tone as they can get away with.
According to trading standards it's an offence to knock when the sign is up, especially if they come back again
Perhaps that could be investigated by trading standards.
Someone on ‘defund the BBC’ Facebook showed this exact letter, so I sent them a link to your UA-cam video to put their mind at rest. Thanks Jon
I got that exact letter today. They have apparently been investigating me for about 2 years now
Another great letter breakdown video Chilli, thanks. 👍🏻
You Sir are doing one hell of a job. It is really annoying that they are allowed to use such disgraceful and harassing tactics. Personally, I stopped paying tv licence and completely boycotted BBC. Shame is that in the same time the other broadcasters are loosing the audience.
I recieved one of those letters today. I immediately shredded it, thus turning it into hamster bedding.
I've wondered if this constant letter campaign is a secret subsidy keeping the Royal Mail alive. Would be fascinating to know how much the BBC spends on these mailshots every few weeks.
Don't spread those rumours I've got shares in the Royal Mail 🤣😂😁
I’ve been getting those letters for about 8 yrs and no ones been out
i have had so many letters from then it enabled me to start my bonfire on nov 5th i would like to thank the tv licence people for there assistants
There's so many people now called the legal accupier in the UK
Had loads of letters threatening to visit, I'll meet him/ her on the door step.. it's the old and vunerable i feel sorry for... DO NOT TALK TO THEM, close the door.
You are absolutely correct, not everyone wants to watch BBC crap.
Subscribers are the only aspect of a 'subscription service' the BBC fear most. 🤔😂
can you imagine if a different organisation behaved like this??
If you accidentally open the front door say a few lines of Polish over and over and louder and louder whilst looking puzzled .
英語が分からない (eigo ga wakaranai) .. works every time
I sympathise with your frustration Jon.
I got one today. It went from my letter box to the bin without even being opened lol
These clowns are just that, they've been threatening my wife and I for 2 years and we just keep them for the fun.
I genuinely hope they come one day so that I can record it and tell them where to go.
I opened the first letter, now after 5yrs everyone goes straight into the bin unopened
Took a picture, sent to my mate for laughs
(he hasn't been paying tv licence for last 15+ years) then as responsible and civilized human being I placed it in recycling bin.
Imagine Asda sending you threatening letters because they have no proof that you went in their store and took some carrots without paying.
Very entertaining Jon. Scare tactics are probably costing THE GOONS thousands of pounds!!! 😅😅
Never payed for a tv licence in 34 years and never had a visit.
Quick calculation:
30 Million households in the UK.
A visit every 10 seconds and got told to fk-off 5 times in 1 minute.
It's like the Jehovas Witnesses Advent Calendar
I've had visits when I have completed the 'no license needed' form. I completed it when I moved home, and then less than a year later, started receiving the letters again. They are now addressed to 'The Occupier', so I am going to take your advice and say 'no thankyou', should they come to my door.
Ah, but they now know your real name Mr Theo Ccupier
I completed the form too and my letters still get addressed to the legal occupier.
I’d pay the tv licence just to save the bloody trees
I got scones in and everything and they didn't show up!
Mine was signed by Scott Robson too, and im guessing you're in England? Im in Wales. My letters go to help line my cats litter tray
Gets about a bit this scott robson.
Great idea especially as cat litter prices are horrendously expensive!
I got the same letter today saying they will be investigating me and will be able to enter my house without me being there apparently.good luck my dog is a pressa its huge and hungry 😂
I got 5+ since I cancelled in 2020, letters stop letters once I completed the online form as I was told you still get pestered if you don't, it stopped the letters. you must film that greeting with your 🐕I bet money on they won't 🤣. Stay happy always 😊
I’ve been at the same address in London for almost 30 years, on the electoral role the entire time and I haven’t had a visit for over 20 years, no letters for over a decade. They’re slacking.
My grandma used to get rid of cold callers asking for a specific name by saying in a deep, drôle voice, "He/she died of drink last Tuesday..." 😂
Very good advice. I live on the ground floor with cctv, a further piece of good advice is to not engage with these people. Simply don't even answer the door, if you have a peep hole in the door, use it and if it's not an expected visitor it's either a nuisance or an even bigger nuisance a TV Licensing goon! Don't open your door!
I have a vast collection of these letters.
8 years unopened 😂
They've been investigating this household for years. Last year letter said they were coming round on Christmas day 🎄😂
I Just got a letter from them sayin " Please Act before 20 December " there is currently no TV Licence at this Address .
So it looks like the boys will be round in the New Year ...
My Declaration Ran out in Nov this year ... I didn't renew it and I am still playing a Straight game as you put it ..
So lets see where this goes !!
Nah they wont be round. They will just send you free toilet paper every month or so with the same boring threats.
Nothing will happen
Scot Robson" is apparently the Enforcement Manager of the Maidstone office as well as Cambridge.
the one time they actually come round i was in a rush as my kids ws taking ages to get ready n heading out so i just sed no and went out lol, they haven't sent anyone since lol
They sent dozens these to a friend of mine, he didn't even own a TV or any way of watching TV.
