that's just for Geometry actually, you can leave Environmental Quality on a lower setting (but in order to keep Geometry on Extreme you will need it on at least Ultra)

Great video. But I actually figured out a different problem that had nothing to do with Forza or my pc, but instead my Xbox controller. My framerate would get up to about 90 average around 70 but as soon as I would use my controller the framerate was very inconsistent, dropping down to 4 at times. I also discovered that when I moved the controller farther away performance dropped significantly. To anyone with the same issue using an Xbox One S controller, either connect the controller to your pc via a usb cable (some don't work, you may need to find a specific kind) or by an adapter for about $20. Good luck!
This video is amazing. I have a 2080ti and these settings got my temp down from 75 to 64. Game looks pretty much the same and my room is a lot cooler now. I can game longer. Nice!
Great advice! Went from 72fps to 110fps at 1440p using a rtx3070 and r9 5900x. Low key the most important part of this video is the first 3 min. Windows 11 was throttling my gpu.

Unless you desperately need these optimizations to get your game playable, I don't think this visual quality hit is worth it. Doesn't even look like a modern game after all of these cuts. I'd try to strike a better balance and target 60fps with most settings to at least high.
I'd say play on console then. Even the One X (maybe even the One S!) will likely produce a much better look and experience compared to dipping too far below at least "high" settings. My main point is that targeting fps beyond 60 is sadly a luxury and imo isn't worth sacrificing all of your quality settings.

You can strike a balance of great "modern" graphics while hitting above 60 fps on a "modern" pc, especially after the update for FH5. Hitting above 60fps is not a "luxury." That said, I do admit that I bias towards image quality over framerate when I have to sacrifice one or the other. While I'm lucky enough to have a decent GPU right now (1080ti OC'ed), a lot of people likely watching this may be having trouble getting or affording one in this f'ed up market. There are definitely games where I agree with you about 120+fps being a priority! I personally just don't think this is one of them. I have it maxed out (tho no RT cause of my older GPU) and am holding between 50-70fps at 3440x1440. To me this looks amazing and I'm not suffering any latency or negative gameplay effects from not going higher for this specific game. Another thing! if your max fps possible in fh5 is 70-120ish you should turn off night shadows as it eats up 20% of your fps!! night shadows doesn't necessarily mean shadows in night, if you turn it off you still see your car's shadow when you're under a light source, basically what it does is it gives OBJECTS shadows when headlights or lamps hit them, like broken pieves etc even if im wrong, i dont think night shadows is worth wasting 20fps for, of course you can turn it on if you like it or have a higher end pc, but it costs so much fps
This is a great video! I had 40-60 fps at the beginning and after i followed ur steps, i have like triple the fps. Now when i drive fast down a straight road, my fps wouldnt dip drastically
wouldn't advice Environmental Geometry anything less than Ultra though, put it as high as you can otherwise it can have very significant impact on drawing distance (tree popping up will become so bad even on High setting)

i have a 1070, i think sometimes getting new graphics drivers actually hurt performance as they are geared to newer cards, i get a warning when i start game but it works fine
when i went into the properties for ForzaHorizon5.exe there was no compatability thing, only general ,sharing ,security ,previous versions, and customize all in that order.
I recommend capping ur FPS at 60 if you are playing on controller as it is very hard to notice any difference than 100+ FPS. I think it help your graphic card to sustain a longer time of playing.

i have to be honest, the in game settings guide was done very poorly, i mean every option comment was "maybe lower it if you have an old gpu", that's common sense and it just tells me you didn't do any work in testing the graphic settings

Sorry but this was terrible, you basically turned everything to near lowest settings, without doing any testing on quality and performance differences. You should outline the potential % gain from one mode to the next for all the different tiers, and what we can expect to be different in-game from it. All you did here was put everything to low, and make it look very poor and surprise surprise you have better FPS..
With the GamePass version I can't get access to the ForzaHorizon5.exe (to add to the Graphics settings) although I have full access to the whole WindowsApps folder....

I had an Omen 2 years ago, was playing fh4. Why do you wanna unlock fps? It’ll cause a screen tearing for you since you dont have external monitor and stuck with 60hz.

Set antriscopic filtering to 16x in NVIDIA control panel. I also rest the setting in there and it fixed it

It only makes an advantage in draw distance if it's set to extreme. No difference in other settings.

Just tip: Rtss or rivertuner open will crash the game. For some reason the game reads it as a cheat software and the game won't load.

Maybe I'm just used to it but the difference between 60fps and 90fps is quite big when playing controller. On 60fps it feels ugly

differently cap your FPS based on your monitor refresh rate because the game menu will got for 1000 FPS and your GPU will scream

Yes, game has some bugs like that. Just restart the game when you change these settings and you will be fine.
