Cactusblah This is unrelated, but I've read a lot of comments that expressed distaste towards the ending of Umineko and EP8 in general. In my opinion, I found that EP8 was needed in order to teach us, rather remind us of a few of the lessons that Umineko taught us. It was also necessary for Ange's story to be concluded by having her receive closure of her family's fate, learning again to forgive and discard the Ushiromiya name in order to start over and pass on the lessons she learnt over to the next generation. Through Ange, we are reminded that there are more important things than uncovering the truth behind everything and are told that there are things in life that matter more than the truth. The ultimate point of the story, in my opinion wasn't a silly guessing game, as to the identity of the culprit and figuring out how the crimes were committed. Will even kept saying to never forget the heart. The point was to teach us important life lessons that seem obvious in retrospection. However, given the nature of humans to repeat past mistakes, it was necessary to remind us as many times as needed. This is why the idiotic goats who drivel on and on ad infinitum about how the Rosatrice theory was the truth of those two days piss me off. The truth wasn't important at all. People like that are the intellectual rapists that Will warns us about. One more thing that I wanted to mention was how I realised how the ultimate antagonist of the story was really the Ushiromiya name and its legacy. The root of all the tragedies lie with that cursed name. Everything from Kinzo's dull life, ignoring his wife and kids to keep a lover, forcing Bice and their children to live in hardships, the toxic household of Ushiromiya that twisted all the siblings and poisoned their relationship with each another, how Eva would unconsciously force her regrets onto George and harass Natsuhi and Rosa, the endless chain of hatred and bitterness etc. can be traced to the Ushiromiya legacy. Then again, if Kinzo never met Bice on that day, I can't imagine what kind of circumstances she would have to go through. It would have probably been way worse..
7 was about Battler/Tohya/Will coming to terms with the incident for himself and Beato well after it happened. Game 8 made explicitly clear the survival miracles that happened within the plot and did much more justice to the despair and suicide themes from games 2,4, & 7 which were hinted at but never directly addressed. Game 8 was a bit too long, but getting closure on Ange was important because she was sympathetically the most similar character to Beato and had a live choice to make based on what she learned about the incident. Also since she was the last of the Ushiromiya family, tracing the final impact of this Beatrice story on the family was important since it transcended Battler.
I always thought of EP8 as an extended epilogue. EP7 brings answers and closure to most of the main mysteries, with only Ange's part of the story and the bridge that connects her story with Sayo's left to see.
Having finished Umineko a long time ago, I always find myself coming back to reread early episode 7 to hear this theme. I love the atmosphere it provides a lot
Episode 7 does such a good job at being the “weird” episode of the bunch. It’s completely different in that we’re following two new characters “looking back” at the story of Rokkenjima and Beatrice, and the game reflects that by having an atmosphere and soundtrack unlike any other in the game.
The beginning reminds me of Minecraft even though this is older. Damn, this chapter was so beautiful, relaxing and made me feel at home. To me it seemed more idealistic and perfect (in it's own way) than the Golden Land itself and the common descriptions of paradises across the world. Quite nostalgic. Of course, all of this until the Tea Party happened lmao
I really do love this one. It captures this extremely specific feeling of "waking up after a nightmare (maybe not as terrible as a nightmare, moreso a dream that made you feel a plethora of emotions from both ends of the spectrum) and forgetting everything that happened, but those feelings still linger as you get up out of bed" which kinda describe everything that happens up until Episode 7. It's like you're there, it's all done now, the dream's over, everything you thought was real was not after all, and all that's left is to try and figure out wtf happened if you can even still remember. I think this track also played when Yasu was waking up after giving Beatrice her feelings for Battler in her dreams, and she woke up with her face looking like a total mess clearly cried herself to sleep the night before. Love love love it
This song's name is my birthday and as we all know it's the first day in the 2 days being looped in Umineko, I think Umineko and me were destined to meet cause this is one of those series I just liked from the first time I saw it, pretty cool series tbh.
Ayrwan Pelletier Je ne sais pas, mais je trouve ça sympa que ma musique préférée de l'EP ait un titre en français ^^ I don't know, but I think it's cool that my favorite music of EP 7 has a french title ^^
Crazy how October 4,5 and 6 were imo some of the most mundane days in the year but Umineko made them special days that I will literally never forget.

IT'S TIME.
Episode 7 had a nostalgic feeling to it, like the story was over and Will was revisiting it. Then episode 8 happened. The story was not over just yet.

Episode 8 is easily my favorite. It's such a wonderful conclusion to the series.

To celebrate another October 4th
Plays a lot in the chapel waiting room scenes of EP7, which lends to the calming atmosphere of a large portion of the first quarter of EP7.
It plays in the "Magic Ending"... congratulations Ange !
