Hi, My name is Mike Montgomery and I'm a MAKER; a designer, builder, and full-time content creator. I like the design quite a bit but I think that you may have over looked one factor. The prop stand placement defeats the purpose of having a taper on the board, normally that taper is to stick the shirt on the board. Moving the prop stand towards the middle would make this design more functional.
I'd say he overlooked a lot of factors.
Yeah. I also don't get the whole point of a hideaway ironing board if the ironing stuff is gonna be stored OUTSIDE of the unit. It's obvious what's in there. If they just wanted a space saver, it couldn't been mounted to wall without a cabinet. Why make a cabinet at all if the storage won't be inside

Does the door to the cupboard get in the way of ironing? I feel like it would be a left-handed nightmare.
Would it not have made more sense for the door to be the ironing board? Then the inside could have been used to store the iron & other accessories.

It looks great but you need to have batting under the fabric iron cover to prevent indents showing on the clothing you iron. Also, fabric on irons inevitably get destroyed over time with burn marks, making a custom one (a not very difficult process) could be fitted with draw strings to still allow the ironing board to close. It may have been better to study how old built in ironing boards functioned before building and possibly using an old ironing board too. Fun video and very creative none the less.
This is exactly what I was looking for , it's functional , doesn't take up alot of space which is a must in alot of laundry rooms , off the floor so your not tripping over anything and only regular hinges , plywood and some scrap wood , who doesn't have that laying around . Nicely done sir , can't wait to make mine . )
Thank you!!! This is exactly what I was looking for, and I'm building one for my sewing room. I realize some people mention the leg on the end and not being able to fit the leg or sleeve of a garment, however, this is the tradeoff for a smaller, built-in. If I wanted to press full garments, I'd pull out my regular ironing board. But this is absolutely perfect for quick presses here and there. Just what I need!

Many old houses had fold up ironing boards. Very functional in my opinion. If you don’t want to staple the cover on you can just pin it to itself with safety pins or straight pins. That way you can use a couple of layers of old sheet or muslin too.
I'd have looked into setting the box into the wall, even partly, because having a box stick out of the wall like that looks like it gets in the way.

This would be a good idea to up-cycle a regular ironing board whose legs have ceased to function.

So many questions...
If you're going to stand on that side of it when you iron, why'd you put the door on the same side? It's very in the way.
You gave yourself such little room to stand, wedged between it and the washer/dryer. Why didn't you put it on the opposite wall or on the other side of the door frame?
If you're using the kreg pocket hole drill bit and kreg pocket hole plugs just to make a regular butt joint, why not just use it as intended and make actual pocket hole joints?
You used the router to make the back panel rabbet grooves, left the corners rounded, and then rounded the corners of the panel because you liked the look. But it's the back panel, you can't see any of it anyway. Why didn't you just make the rabbet grooves before you assembled the frame so the corners would be square? You wouldn't lose any visual features.
Why did you make curved edges with a circular saw instead of a jigsaw?? You used the jigsaw later anyway.
Why do you iron and hang white undershirts?
I usually like your videos because i learn something (even though I definitely don't share your infatuation with natural finish plywood), but the design of this ironing board is baffling to me.
Won't constant heat and moisture quickly warp the wood?
I have my great grandmas ironing board. It's over a hundred years old and made from solid wood. It's held up just fine. Besides, Mike's board would be a cinch to replace😁

Awesome project but the leg is too close to the end of the board so you can’t slip pants over the end to iron them.

Not with a basic iron like that.
Also, if you just fastened the ironing board part in another way, the cabinet wouldn’t be so thick, seeing it’s quite a tight place you have it in.
Maybe just easier to fasten a real ironing board to the wall.
Nicely made but the practical side in me says: buy a second hand ironing board and put it in a corner will absolutely do the job. This is DIYing for the sake of it not because it makes sense. No offense, I think its well done and fun to watch anyway!
The rabbet is a nice touch but completely unnecessary. This isn't fine cabinetry. It's an unfinished box hanging on a semi-finished wall in a laundry.

Since that new update i don´t know anymore but, am i the only one who doesn´t like this childish content ? Its like he is trying to figure out how low he can go with the usability and quality of the stuff that he is producing until his followers start to say something. Don´t get me wrong, i have watch tons of mikes videos for years! But compare those videos to what has been put out on this channel a couple of years ago, its a far cry from those videos.
