One year later with a Ridge Wallet & a Rossm Wallet

- I bought both these wallets, and enjoyed them both. I think minimalist wallets are perfect for those who need to save space, conserve grams, or just don’t need bulky wallets. Which is perfect for hiking and mtb’ing in my experience.
Just a fan of both wallets.
Hopefully the rain clears up for the weekend though.

Thank you for sharing! 😍
Thank you for making a less expensive wallet!
I have two Ridge Wallets. Both less than a month old. On one of thyme the elastic money band became unthreaded and fell apart when I went to swap it out with a money clip. I was less than impressed by the customer experience that was offered. They flubbed up badly in my opinion. When one charges a premium price, they need to offer premium materials and premium customer service. I don’t think Ridge exemplified either in this case. They didn’t respond quickly and they sent the wrong replacement part even after two rounds of pictures were sent. I sent the first few per the instructions on the warranty form. Then I was contacted a few days later asking for more pictures. Then I was told I was approved for a warranty claim replacement. I received another notice showing the “order” for the replacement part and I noticed the description seemed inaccurate to me. I notified them of my concern that the wrong part was about to be shipped and redescribed the part that failed. I was reassured that the part being sent was indeed correct. Do I waited from Nov 1 until yesterday to find out that yes they indeed sent the wrong part. Everytime I contacted them I had to wait two days for a response. So I think they can have their premium priced wallet back and I will try a Rossm. Their forged carbon line looks real nice. I like the design of their AirTag wallet line as well.
Got my ROSSM two days ago and love it. It really has no flaws. I say this after having watched many videos comparing the two against each other. Perhaps ROSSM's quality has improved a lot recently. A couple of years ago, things may have been different. Obviously, I can't comment on wear and tear just yet.
If it doesn't hold up well, at least I'm only out $31.00 for the matte black with their 10% "first-time" discount.
I have dropped mine over 9000 times and it has still held up. I like the ridge, but its just to expensive imo. I can buy more then one Rossm for the price of one ridge, and thats really what sold me.
Ridge now comes with the extras because of Rossem. Lol, I got my first Ridge Wallet because they had a limited edition design I really liked and it came with all those extras. Honestly it’s necessary, especially if you are paying over 100.
One thing to keep in mind, the "lifetime warranty" with the Ridge Wallet is the following:
"Your Lifetime Warranty will include Replacement Parts in the event of failure or loss of Elastic, Screws, Inner Plates, and/or Money Clip."
"This warranty does not cover lost, stolen or disposed wallets; scratches, dents, chips and/or scrapes on the Outer Plates; damages caused by accident, abuse, neglect, shock; improper use or storage of the product; unauthorized modifications or repairs."
Exactly I had my ridge key case stolen $95 down drain
Be prepared to have to wait a few days each time you reach out to them and to take pictures and then take more pictures before they honor the warranty and then possibly be sent the wrong replacement items. Even after clarifying what parts were needed. Very frustrating experience when you paid for a premium product.
Thanks for the review! I really didn’t want to spend 100$ on a wallet and now I am convinced the Rossm is a great cheaper alternative
Happy to help.
Stop being cheap! You get what you pay for!
hi, I'm going to buy a rossm but was wondering if the 7 screw holes line up exactly on both the ridge and rossm. Also is the finger cutuout identical in size and location? The reason I ask is because I want to install an accessory that's made for the ridge but i want it to work on the rossm. TIA.
I appreciate you keeping it short. No need to blather on for 20 minutes when three will do nicely. 👍🏼
Thanks, I think 3-5 minutes is a sweet spot for most videos.
My dilema: So I sold a few things and had some money in PayPal collecting dust, discovered these types of wallets, so I bought the Ridge (Aluminum Gunmetal), only really put $25 of my own money towards it, and they are having a Father's Day sale, so it was discounted. Been using it for a week or so and I love it. But then I was curious about the ROSSM (forged carbon), so I ordered one, but not sure I want to even open the box. I guess I'm undecided whether to keep the Ridge and send the ROSSM back, or try the ROSSM and send the Ridge back. Since they are so similar I'm pretty torn on what to do... Also, ROSSM now has a Lifetime Warranty, so another reason to go with them...
I won’t lie to you, i bought the Rossm cause I wanted a cheaper alternative to the Ridge. I still own the Ridge one because it’s nice to own a back up. But I have been using the Rossm since the day I bought it, dropped it over a bunch times and its held up. I am the type that doesn’t like to shell out alot of money on luxury items. I also like the fact that I could always get more then one Rossm for the cost of a Ridge.
TLDR, its whatever makes you happy that matters. I have had no issues with Either to be frank.
@@RomansDowntime Yea, I agree, it's whatever makes you happy. I ended up just staying with the Ridge. The Forged Carbon ROSSM wasn't as smooth as the Ridge Aluminum, felt like I'd be annoyed by that. Other than that, the ROSSM is a great alternative. If I found the ROSSM first I would have stuck with it of course. Again, excellent review...
The new rossm wallet comes with different elastic and a different screws. So its even closer to the Ridge wallet
That sounds pretty cool, I do like many of their styles. So maybe i’ll see for myself soon
ROSSM now includes Lifetime Warranty!
That is dope, i had no idea!
Lifetime warranty. Ok $30. Wow what a great deal. Lose thousands of dollars because of a broken wallet, get $30 back.
That's a great f****** deal.
@@xuimod why so angry! calm down bro :D
@@xuimodsame with every wallet, its content is always more expensive. Your comment is useless
They don't cover loss of elastic (normal wear of the elastic) which I think can definitely become an issue over time.
Great review man 👍so clear and easy to understand 👍
Thanks, much appreciated! 🙏
I’ve had mine exactly a year. I got it Xmas 2021. The same carbon fiber style one with a black clip. I use it everyday and keep clipped in my front pocket of my jeans. The area where the clip hooks into the wallet is bent. And also the clip has popped off the wallet. Yesterday I was getting out of it vehicle and it separated and the clip was still on my pants. Might have to test the warranty.
So you have a San Quentin 2 AND carbon fiber ridge? A man of impeccable taste I see 👌
In a serious I hope the peeps at Ridge stand true to their warranty and can help you out asap!
Well, it’s not really made to clip on to your pocket. But, to each his own.
The "extra" band tpu pointed out the rossm came with isnt extra. You have to change the band also when you change to the money clip.
That is interesting, I wasn’t aware of that. I still use the strap it came attached with.
@@RomansDowntime I've used the ridge over four years, money clip version, band and clip holding up great still. It's great quality.
I have everything by the ridge there $$$ rossm same thing same quality ridge just paying for the name my $100 ridge 🖊️ rights just as good as a $2 pen ridge only cover lost our stolen rings had my key case stolen
Doesnt have a lifetime warranty but if you skip one night of doordash you’re even
Rossm actually now offers a lifetime warranty as of late 2023. It was the deciding factor for me purchasing them over Ridge. If they're the same quality and they'll vet a lifetime warranty, I don't see the reason for spending 3-5x the price just for a more premium experience lol
Have you ever tried putting the Rossm sides on a Ridge wallet?
You know, i never had a reason to try this. So idk.,
@@RomansDowntime Well, I got a really good deal on a Titanium (burnt), like $60 actual Ridge wallet . I like the ember look also, but I could not find a deal on them. Thinking about down the line trying it.
When you touch them do they feel the same? Wondering if you touch the front would you notice if theres a quality difference
Hmm, I guess I would say the Ridge feels smoother, while I don’t think the Rossm is abrasive by any means.
Of course not!! Ridge makes a better carbon fiber!!
does either of the wallets seem to scratch your cards at all?
Never noticed a scratch on either tbh.
Either looks nice. But how many cards do they hold?
I have read up to 12 cards, but I’ll be honest. I don’t carry 12 cards at any given time, lol.
@@RomansDowntime 12 does seem excessive, but I think I could hit ~7 if I count the other various necessities. 🤔 I might give it a go.
Thanks!
Happy to help!
My ridge came with everything that cheap p.o.s came with
If your happy, thats all that matters bro.
@@RomansDowntime but the last time I ordered from the ridge it was a cheap plastic screwdriver 🪛 Rossm on the other hand, sent a nice metal one out
