This is why trailers are pointless. They are misleading and don't accurately represent what the game will be like.
Trailers aren't pointless. Trailers is a major selling point especially for first installments of a series. It's just this is the second installment so people aren't getting what they are expecting. There have been plenty of reaction videos where people get hyped off the trailers alone and decides "I'm going bro have to get this" upon first viewing it. Ofc they shouldn't be the final thing to persuade you for buying the game. But it helps give consumers an idea of what they are getting. Without trailers and reviews we would be purchasing shit completely blind.
Also misleading and clickbaiting is a giant gamble. Because you don't want to add too much or too little in a trailer. It looks good but the trailer isn't what is hurting the game it's the developers and the spoilers

It kept Ellie in the dark of a decision, that should have been hers to make in the first place, while also keeping her ignorant of the attrocities Joel had committed, robbing her the chance to judge the situation and Joel's actions for herself. He was a selfish coward for lying to her; there was nothing good or noble about that.
Honestly, I assumed Joel would die but I thought he would get similar treatment to Arthur Morgan from Red Dead 2, watching the sun set with Ellie by his side or something. Reminiscing on their past hardships and telling her he was still proud of her for her bravery. Way more heartwrenching than the shock value garbage they went with, in my opinion of course.
Nope. He dies without any dignity and meaninglessly.

His death has to at least mean something more than revenge or shock value, which is what it looks like now. Joel prevented the possibility of a cure to save Ellie and lied to her about what happened and his death in this game is just "he killed some random character last game so now that person's family is getting revenge" which feels cheap. He could also save Ellie like a lot of people want, but the point is it shouldn't feel shoe horned because the last game created plenty of possiblities that fit with the story.
I personally thought his death would be redemptive in nature. Ellie could have found out that he lied to her all those years ago and about the innocent lives that were lost in his rescue of her and then he dies saving her and her partner from certain death. Or something like that.

Hennig was not forced out of the company according to Jason Schreier. She simply got a better job with EA and left in the beginning stages of uncharted 4. druckmann even said that he didn’t want to do uncharted 4, but felt he had to make it for the company. When I first saw the E3 trailer for The Last of Us Part 2 I honestly thought that Deena would die while her and Ellie were on patrol at the hands of the cultists and she would go on a revenge quest with Joel who would also die along the way. That is the game that I was hoping to play but this leak has me doubting if I'm even going to keep this game once I receive my copy.
Don't do it to yourself save your money and buy another game that you are looking forward to. Naughty dog did the fans dirty with this game so why should we support them?
