Good video man! I didn't know about limiting the power output from the gearbox to keep a certain "reserve" for only the propellers. Darn it, now I'm going to have to much around in FtD again instead of scratching my Elden Ring itch lol!
Haha you too? Seems lots of my friends are in the elden ring... I decided to treat it as a addictive substance I don't need to try to keep up my sanity (=like instant tutorials)
Anyways, good to limit output to make sure its full speed if ones craft depends on decent speed :)

Crank motor and separate propellers for reverse.
EDIT Or as I found out literally seconds after I replied, Q on the propeller and switch it from automatic to manual and to pusher preset. I'm an idiot.
I would like to ask, can i reverse the spin of the propeler? for going forward and backward
Yes you can have the propeller dragging you forwards instead of pushing you!

just looked into your video and it made me wonder about a few things and wanted to have your thoughs on them ^^
first i saw you using something like 12 meters of straights shafts doesn't it affect too much the perf of the engine? (i saw for the 1 meter props but i mean with steam props you're mostly thinking about larger props than your shaft no? i mean small shafts = 3m props, medium = 5 and large =7 no?)
seconds nowadays i'm a big fan of using a big hybrid steam engine (redundant in most case) and steam motor + props instead of direct feeding steam engine why would you prefer using direct props ? (not a negative question ^^ i'm building a lot of stuff from under 2500 mats up to 2M so i just want to know your thoughts on it ^^)
last question what is your opinion regarding steam powered engine between ful power oriented (crank shaft) vs hybrid + acb to control the energy production to not overload?
Yes the more shafts or other parts that increase the stored kinetic energy in the engine might affect slowness and top speed, so better have it not longer than you need, but also put it where it is protected, center of mass might also be important depending on the craft.
About propeller sizes there is for example a 3 meter one for both small and medium. however they require different size of shaft for connection respectively. Just look at where they are listed.
The power you can get from a dedicated steam propeller is simply superior when it comes to propulsion compared to regular water propellers, just look at the values and with this tutorial I'm sure you could increase some of your boats topspeed while still looking as good or better!
I guess it depends on usage case, but if oriented to full power it will not draw much material at all if it is not under heavy load, so works well to do it simple like that I'd say :)

GModism -- if you look at the Lightning Hoods vehicle "Eclipse" you see that it uses a single steam engine with BELT connections to drive three propellers. For the life of me, I cannot see how this is supposed to work. Any chance you could cover that?
Ah, yeah its simple, I think this is covered in my latest general steam tutorial however, but I recommend azipods for everything, tutorial on that too

How would I make it so I can adjust the power on the fly like you can with the main drive slider love your videos btw
Hey mate, sitting close to a ships wheel will give you control over the vehicle and you can adjust power there :)

Back again I did this and it worked thank you but now my ship is being identified as a airplane
Also the way I have my stuf setup I have one boiler and 2 gearboxes but only one works do you know what I should do
@@badjames9273 use the ships wheel, not vehicle controller
what do i have to configure that the psiton doesnt run permanent so if my ship is in stand by it doesnt use recources
for that you need a acb switch that turns of a valve or turns off the burners. perhaps I can make a tutorial about this in future if needed :)
