    Hey Tati! There's a cheaper version of the EradiKate (literally the same thing) and it's Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion. I haven't tried the Kate Somerville one because it's so expensive, but this one runs about $16 and lasts forever. It's my holy grail overnight zit medication! They're pretty much gone the next day! Also, the Mario B and the Eradikate are the exact same size - 1 oz.

      Can I replace that with the repairing lotion from Proactiv?

      @marissaciko6833 9 років тому

      Elizabeth Martinez I haven't tried anything from Proactiv, but the drying lotion is safe for all skin types (or so it says). I went through a really rough breakout patch and I credit the drying lotion to help it clear up (along with some Ole Henriksen things). Totally up to you if you want to replace it!

      According to Paula’s Choice the Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment and the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (they basically have the same ingredients) are a COCKTAIL OF POTENT IRRITANTS! Rating POOR
      YES, sulfur is a topical disinfectant and can reduce a pimple BUT:
      - you can’t heal skin by drying and irritating it
      - the ingredients in them will only make skin red and risk causing capillaries to surface
      - isopropyl alcohol + camphor (ingredients) => a potent, skin-damaging irritant
      - will cause super dry flaky scaly skin and red / dark pigmentation scars that are hard to get rid of
      - if your skin is sensitive, you will get dark patches and is NOT WORTH it!
      Just a friendly warning for those interested … ^_^

    Mario Badescu drying lotion is much better in my opinion. His line changed my life . I have almost every product. The ingredients are simple and healthy for your skin, affordable because of the simple packing and they don't pay to advertise, and so affective on my skin. I tried everything from origins to clarins and dr djart and soooo many also drug store and they were either filled with harsh chemicals that made my skin feel and look worse or they were natural yet not effective for me. Mario is the best ! Wish I would have found him sooner !

    I get bad cystic acne because of hormone imbalances that lasts weeks to months typically. But, I've finally found something that works to help me within a week to even a few days. I use smile's prid drawing salve and hydrocortisone, mix them and out a big glob on the cyst, and cover it in a gentle medical tape overnight. Dermatologists actually recommend using hydrocortisone this way because it is almost as effective as a cortisone shot, and the prid salve helps the sebum come to the surface so I can get it out with he help of a pin and let my face start to heal. I have tried every over the counter treatment and this is the only thing that has ever made a difference.

    Tati, bare minerals blemish relief is a sulphur powder that you can dust onto your spots. You can use it on its own or under makeup and also over makeup, great if you want the hit the sucker(s). The powder is slightly yellow tone, so is pretty much invisible on everyone but the fairest of skin tones. If you are finding the sulphur paste is working for you, try the sulphur powder (I'm in the UK, but no doubt the USA bare minerals has something similar) x

    If you have dry skin as I do, try applying tea tree oil to the spot for a couple days to dry it out/kill bacteria, then once it has shrunken in size and dried out, put coconut oil on top to re-hydrate and which also has anti-bacterial properties. When I do this, the spot is gone within a few days and there is no redness, no scarring and the skin beneath looks like it never had a spot to begin with! I don't know if this would work with cystic acne under the skin as I (luckily) haven't dealt with that yet, but for the odd pimple I do get, this works every time!

      That sounds like good advise for those not with cystic acne; I used to have it and teatree oil did not do good things. i think its because I have sensitive skin and the oil is pretty potent. Vitamin E, however, was great to put over a healed spot that is threatening to scar or discolor. My cystic acne almost always would scar or discolor for a few months, even if I did not pick at it.

    Acnomel is also a sulfur product sold at Walmart here in Canada. Tati, you're the one that told me about Stridex pads. They're Fantastic to use on your face. They keep the black heads away for me. My skin is so much better, and just about completely clear thanks to daily use of stridex pads. I cut one round into quarters and use the small quarter on my t zone and all around my chin. Also, Philosophy makes a great retinol cream called Help Me. Both my BF and I use it and we both noticed a difference in our skin pretty much right away. Hope you found my tips helpful.

    Tati and all other commenters,
    I had acne for such a long time and hated it it. It bothered and hurt and definetly made me insecure. I tried ALL brands and all different types of products and NOTHING worked. I found sulfur soap and it changed my skin forever. If you have severe or everyday normal acne( more than the occasional breakout) use the sulfur soap and after it suds let it sit on the skin 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat everyday or to your liking and/or tolerance. Your acne will for sure subside!

    Tati, agree 100% on the EradiKate product. I LOVE it and it is a repurchase product. I'm sure this goes without saying though for those that will consider buying this product. ..if your sense of smell is sensitive be cautious! This product has a very strong smell. It reminds me of the strength of acetone. Not that it smells like acetone just how potent the fragrance/odor is. All that being said, it could smell like skunk and I probably would still use it, it works amazing and the price is not bad..bc the product will last.

    Natural alternative: put tea tree oil on a q tip and apply to zit.. helps it dry up very fast! Also try putting natural honey on it.. or do a honey mask. Honey is great for reducing inflammation and has antibacterial properties that help clear skin.. I do a honey mask 3 times a week and I've seen massive improvements in my skin :)

    The EradiKate is just like the Etude House AC Clinic Pink Powder, which I've tried before and though it works, I don't think it works as well as OXY Maximum Action Spot Treatment, which you can get at any drugstore or even Walmart or Target for much less. It may bother people with dry skin, but I've been using it since I was a teenager and it works wonders.

  • @ellementira

    Along the lines of another sulfur spot treatment I've been using for ages now that really works is using a sulfur clay mask as a spot treatment. The brand Acne Free makes one that they sell at the drugstore for really cheap (I think I got mine at CVS), and you get the benefits of the anti-bacterial sulfur as well as the benefits of the oil-absorbing clay. Of course you'll have a big gray/white spot on your face so it's not really something for wearing out in public but it's super cheap and works way better than any other spot treatment I've tried. :)

    I enjoyed this video and kind of liked that you weren't wearing makeup. It felt more casual and real. Which nail polish are you wearing in the video? It's very cool looking.

    Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion is the exact same thing for much cheaper Tati, I swear by it for whiteheads. Exact same bottle, natural ingredients and works like a dream!

    A drugstore acne foundation is the Almay blemish heal foundation. I use it and it has really good coverage!!! But if you are really pale the lightest shade may be a tad dark.

    Mario Bedescu has a product similar to the Kate Somerville. I don't know how much is the Kate one, but the Bedescu one is 17 usd and lasts ages! If you don't like that strong medicinal smell then you will not like it... And it also smells and stings like a mother***, but they work! Take it from a girl who had severe severe severe acne and this type of solutions made a HUGE diference in my skin

    Love the Eradikate :) have had it for a while now and it never fails to save the day

    An even more cost effective option to the Eradicate skincare item you showed is the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion! Same concept, but less expensive, and still a sulfur treatment that you don't shake. In the neighborhood of $10-20 at Ulta :)

    When I was a teenager I was a file clerk at a plastic surgeon's office and they did the blue light on me every week. I had zero acne while I worked there. Those were the days...

    Some sensitive skin people like me cannot use clean and clear. If you can spend a little more, Mary Kay acne gel treatment works amazingly. A Drugstore product I also recomend is neutrogena 8 hour spot treatment and Neutrogena Stress control creme wash.

    I use that clean and clear ( silver and purple) it's really awesome, a little goes a long way but it's also something I would take off before applying makeup or just doing it at nigh time

    I think the best way to treat acne is with both salicylic acid (I use the Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid) and benzol perozide (I prefer 2.5% because it's less drying - any brand will do). Also, I tried the TRIA blue light for many years while living in L.A. and it did absolutely nothing for my breakouts. I also tried the Mario Badescu drying lotion that is a dupe for the Kate Somerville one Tati mentions and that did nothing for me either. The salicylic acid and benzol peroxide are what currently work for me. I highly recommend.

    I love using the Clean and Clear acne spot treatment it works great! I reapply a few time during the day. If I need to use makeup I'll wear the Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer it comes in 2 or 3 different shades. It's medicated.

    I guess I kindof always think of pimples like colds. If you treat it, it last ten days, if you don't treat it, it last ten days. However, two things that have always brought the inflammation down for me is the Body Shops Blue Corn Mask and the tea tree oil spray that you recommended a while ago.

  • @nattyjuneart

    Tea tree oil always helps bring down the swelling of a pimple or make small ones vanish overnight. I use the Body Shop brand.

    Hi Tati, I have used the Kate Somerville sulphur liquid around 3 years ago and it gave me major wrinkles permanently on the area I used it. It literally dries off your skin around the acne. One needs to use it sparingly.
