I have long thought that the biggest cause of miscommunication about this stuff is that liberals changed the words "being polite" to "politically correct."
If this entire conversation was reframed as: "It's polite to use someone's preferred gender. It's polite to make sure black people feel included."
Totally changes the entire game. But that wouldn't let them feel morally superior to anyone on the internet so they're not interested in politeness. They need you to be wrong and a terrible person to validate themselves. If you're just "impolite" they can't stake their identity against you.

I’ve had several occasions of women thinking I’m trying to flirt or something with them because I’m from the Midwest and it’s in my DNA to say “how you doing today” to anyone I make eye contact with, hold doors open for anyone within a 25 foot radius, and make small talk with anyone I’m next to while waiting in an elevator, in a line, etc
It's a Midwest thing. I remember my senior class trip we went to New York City. Being from the Des Moines area in Iowa it was major culture shock for me. Saying hi with a legit smile on my face to every stranger I walked by. Them staring back at me like I'm some sort of serial killer for being joyous lol. I will say a few people asked me where I was from and then it made since to them...

I met a homeless guy once who turned out to be the artist, and a game designer for the original Star Wars Battlefront. I believe his name is Matthew Palmer. We talked for a long time and he was a really solid guy who truly fell upon hard times. He worked on so many successful video games and no one knows who he is. He wrote down his website for me, but the domain doesn't exist anymore so I'm assuming the worst. Hope you're good if you're still with us bud!

Relaying the current state of the world to someone who's been on the inside is both comedic and utterly depressing. Had family who had gotten out just as Trump was being elected and that in of itself was a solid 10 minute laugh. Having to explain the changes in culture especially in relation to women and the hatred of anything masculine was something he simply couldn't understand, mainly because he went to jail just as Obama was getting into office. After going into how it's been intertwined with politics and education, he said "Ahhh that makes sense. Guess I'm never going into a city again."
